Idea I was pondering to add new options for 'endgame' content: something I like to call 'escalations'. Basic idea is:
  • An escalation is a variant on an existing mission.
  • The first time you run an escalation, it runs at level 40 -- i.e. all mobs set to level 40, etc -- or at level+1 if it's already level 40+.
  • When you turn in an escalation, it sets some sort of variable to indicate the level at which you ran the escalation, and offers you the mission again -- at level+1. This continues indefinitely (it might have to cap at level 60).
  • You can get crossover mission escalations to run at a lower level than the max you've run it at, either by getting a crossover from someone else with the mission, or from some sort of supplier.
  • Escalation missions at above level 40 have a chance to increase the rarity of item drops (green->blue, blue->purple) and the level of mods; say, 10% per level above 40. At level 50, they can increase by 2 steps.
  • There should probably also be perks for advanced escalations.
