Not really a goodbye post. At least not for the usual reasons.

It's not because I didn't enjoy the game while playing it. It's not the prices. I no longer have to worry about most of that anymore (already bought most of what I might want anyway). It's not the limited content or the lack of a Foundry or the linear missions. I still had fun just playing.

It's that I just flat can no longer log in reliably anymore. Period. And I'm not the only one by far.

This thread is related to the issue I've been having.

I don't think there's any fix for it, nor do I think it's likely there will be one in the foreseeable future.

It's not quite accurate to say I can't get on the game at all. I tested reloading the game from scratch and discovered I CAN log in - IF I DELETE THE GAME AND RELOAD FROM SCRATCH EVERY TIME.

Needless to say I'm not going to do that.

So I just cancelled my subscription. If I CAN'T play the game, I'm hardly going to give Cryptic and PWE money for it.

I'll keep the occasional eye on the board. But until they get this issue fixed, I guess it's goodbye for now, and peace out.

And no, you can't have my stuff. This is not me being pissed off at the game and leaving. This is me serving notice that I'm just not going to pay money for a service I'm not getting. And even if it were my intention to "give stuff away before going", I couldn't do it anyway, since I can't log in to do so.

I recently have experienced the black screen of death myself the last four days or so. Didn't have this problem last week. :biggrin:

I think the client isn't going into the character log in screen, because I think anti virus software is blocking it.

But I changed the settings to the anti virus I have and didn't help. My guess is that this is an issue they have to resolve on their end.

Makes sense. Just keep in mind that you're unlikely to see any sort of "huraah it's fixed!" notification on the boards, so every now and then try logging in as a silver to see if anything has changed.

Yeah I'm not able to play much at the present time myself. I no longer get upset with online video games I simply quit playing until issues are resolved. Whether I play or not is up too how well the game is functioning at the present time.

I used to get mad and uninstall but that's pointless because later on down the road I always re install lol.

I'd say don't resub if you're subbed, play something else and check in from time to time to see if the game hasn't shut down and if issues have been resolved.

Lot of people in STO have the same problem with logins right now.
NO idea if NW have, haven't checked them.

The slow , as in really slow , load and login, I get off and on. No idea what causes it.

Either internet hiccups or a cache issue, provided there is no problems or issues with your PC. If a couple of hubs result in bad connection that can result in packet loss and if you are streaming instead of having the game fully installed that can delay the load times.

LOL. I thought I got banned for calling Navi a w%$*£r last week turned out its was just this. To the OP I just put CO on a different hard drive and that fixed it. I think ...not sure what the issues was... but I think I fixed it . I can log in ..prob just coincidence and I did get a week ban not check mah emails in donkeys >_>
