Suggestions for munitions/darkness

I have a character who's theme is a mobster who gained dark powers from an ancient artifact. I am having trouble coming up with a cohesive build that would fit my theme that uses powers from the munitions and darkness trees. I'm not sure if there are any synergies between the two trees as I haven't delved into the shadow tree very much.

Here is my current build:

Yeah, Rift and/or ER w/ ParaPara adv can both be good for more generalized builds (latter mroe for its debuffs in groups). I'd also consider Summon Shadows w/ adv- decent dps/pet cd that also heals ya a bit while they're up. Ebon Void w/ VD is a good block enhancer too.

Pure Muni will be more practical for dps, but mixing in some Darkness powers isn't bad for some extra flair.

Since I recently got a legion breastplate of agility, I am probably looking at using it with quarry or night warrior, along with my focus on munitions. Which of these would work better with darkness powers?

Since ur using Ego PSS w/o Int here, I'd prob go w/ NW, due to its -resist and higher boost to non-physical dmg (w/o high Audacity from Quarry). That's if ur okay w/ having Sneak.

Quarry is good too, though (ofc). Ya could consider a EGO/Int/Con setup w/ an Int gearing focus if ya wanted to keep the Ego PSS tree and take Quarry.

Atm, ya only have Ebon Rift for AoE, and that may be an issue due to its cd and smaller radius. If ur going to use BCR (and not mind its dmg penalty) then I'd prob get Lead Tempest w/ the dodge adv as ur main/filler AoE attack, and either use it to replace Rift, or keep Rift and use it for its knock adv for some CC and burst AoE on clumped mobs. Ya can always replace ERuin since it doesn't boost the dmg of TGM for ST dps (though will prove handy vs. Ao'Queph and in PvP).

Other option is just dropping BCR and its dmg penalty and putting Lead Tempest in its place, if ya want to keep all the other Darkness powers (ya should have enough defensive tools as is w/ Conviction, MD, Unbreakable, Eboin Void, and Ascension to not really need BCR).

Ok, I've changed the build up some. I'm keeping ebon rift as a longer range aoe for targets lead tempest can't reach. Holdout shot is for supplemental healing.

Looks pretty good. I'd prob field it in the PH or on the PTS and see how ya like it. Ya dun have many Darkness powers atm, so if ya want a similar combo of dps + healing + MSA trigger to Holdout, ya can always use Summon Shadow's w/ adv instead (and/or possibly change the end builder to Shadow Bolts, not that it should matter much).

How similar is the healing between summon shadows and holdout shot? I also noticed the cooldown on holdout shot is about half of the cooldown of summon shadows.

The healing works similarly in being mostly BG healing. Shadows do have a longer cd, though by lvl 40 its not so much, ya can't have >3 shadows up at once anyways, and they likely can do more net dmg if they stay alive. Either power works fine- may just come down to theme or which power ya like using more.

I was actually wondering if holdout shot's adv or summon shadows's adv heals for more. Also, what does BG mean?

The summon's heal is based on the dmg they do, so its gonna be more variable. Hard to say off-hand, but if I had to estimate based on rough numbers..

R2 Summon Shadows at base do about 5-6k total dmg per use ideally (ie. no deaths, highest uptime on all 3). 20% of that is a ~1.0-1.2k total heal. Over about 20 seconds (their duration) that's about 50-60 hps at base.

Stim Pack at base is ~666 (lel) total healed per use. I don't think the HoT can stack, so it comes to about 100 hps at base.

Keep in mind that they will scale w/ vastly diff things. Stim Pack scales w/ regular bonus heal, and the HoT can crit (when Holdout Shot itself crits). The healing from the Shadow's scales directly w/ their dmg (so it'll be higher in a build using, say, AoED or AoPM, or on a debuffed target, and their crit dps scales w/ ur crit% and severity to an extent). Other things to consider- ya may not be using Holdout Shot enough to run its HoT 100% of the time, nor always have the pets all up and active.

Neither can replace a regular heal w/ those numbers, regardless (imo). I'd consider them accessory healing and dps combos either way.

    and 'BG' = background
