Ok What's up with all the people who just google builds and make toons with no concept whatsoever, pick the most OP powers that make no sense put together...They all use the same type of fully black costume designed with the rarest stuff to show it off surrounded by 10 dark auras to make it look "cool" or whatever.I don't think they even know much about the game they are playing either.I've seen a lvl 40 guy dressed half as Nighthawk, half as an angel thing or whatever using bestial rage, heals, savage skills, force fields, and that Strafing Run skill -_-....I don't understand why can't people be original.I took him in Nemcon and he had no idea what that is or what a nemesis is...Seriously do these people just buy a subscription, copy a build and run around Ren Cen doing using the same OP s**t over and over again?

I would ask why it bothers you so much but I'm sure it wouldn't be any different from anyone else who has said the same things before you, so I'll skip that part.
Champions Online's power system for Gold Players and LTSers is FREEFORM. This means that almost any combination of powers can be accessed and used for any purpose and may be expressed without having to adhere to what their costume implies their skills should be.
As a theme builder, I personally stick to powers which reflect a certain theme.
To play Champions Online this way is my own choice, it is not the "correct" way to play CO because everyone plays differently.
If something works in order to destroy the opposition, without fail, then people are going to use that.
There are plenty of players who have different builds, which are effective and powerful which do not follow the same formula as the person you've just described. It seems you have not run into these ones yet.
So to summarise, what people do with their subscription is up to them. Sure you can talk to them, find out why they've made such a choice but at the end of the day...what works for them...works and shouldn't really be a problem for you.
I think having all the OP powers is silly...but they might have a perfectly good reason why they have those powers, not my place to say otherwise. Same goes with opinions on looks...I might think certain looks are horrible but same thing could be said about mine. I might take their advice and change looks but other than that..screw'm!
Some folks, when they play a game, want to just faceroll and walk right over everything.
Some folks want to have to bite and scratch for each reward, and feel cheated if things are too easy.
Some don't really care that much about how hard it is, they just have a certain character in their heads that they want to play with on the screen.
All of the above are correct playstyles.
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
....I don't understand why can't people be original.
Some people care less about making a cool looking/interesting character and just want to be as strong as possible so they can clear content as fast as possible with the least effort. This isn't uncommon behavior in gamers - it's even more common in other games where being effective actually matters.
Some people also have a really limited, two-dimensional view of what constitutes a "cool looking character". For some people, all their imagination can muster up is "a big black guy".
.Seriously do these people just buy a subscription, copy a build and run around Ren Cen doing using the same OP s**t over and over again?
Yes, some people do that. It's best if you just stop worrying about how others are playing the game, and just focus on making sure that you're having fun playing your way. If you just find it funny that people waste the potential of a game with so much customization and an environment that allows it to shine.... don't worry, there are plenty of us laughing right alongside you.
Some people play the game for the math. You might call them min/maxers, number-crunchers, optimizers, what-have-you. For them it isn't about costumes, concept, or really even the setting. It's about getting every last ounce of performance out an available system, to show that they are smarter about being able to beat available content. It's an intellectual challenge, to out-smart the game's developers, and gives them a sense of satisfaction at "beating" (in as much as you can beat any MMO) the game. How their character looks, what that character's name is, are more incidental and arbitrary, because that isn't as important to these players as what is going on under the hood so to speak. Which is perfectly fine.
Some people play to develop new outfits and concepts, because between Freeforms and the massive amount of character creation flexibility, just about anything you can imagine you can make in the game. They get a sense of satisfaction at seeing what they see in their mind's eye "come to life" as it were on the screen. Which is perfectly fine.
Some people play bits of column A, bits on column B. Some RP exclusively. Some PvP exclusively. All are perfectly fine.
The only ones that aren't perfectly fine are those that violate the TOS, actively attempt to troll or harass others, or actively impair other's enjoyment of the game.

Sure, but in this game that's like someone building a giant machine that has 1,000,000 horse power so they can beat one of these things faster:
I get the whole "min/max" thing. I've done it in other games. I just don't see how anyone can get an ounce of satisfaction out if it in CO. Here it would seem to be more satisfying to make a build that completely roasts all min/maxing knowledge and still steamrolls content.

Not everyone plays this game the same way.

Does this really need a legitimate answer? There isn't one. All you will get are opinions.
But for the sake of your question, I can only provide one answer that actually makes sense.

My super cool CC build and how to use it.
Though if you'd like to see more differences in builds, plead with the devs to equalize the powers.

Just to emphasize the most important part of this thread.
Pretty much this.
When I decide on a theme I then set about building a character that is the most potent representation of that theme that I can manage.
