So welcome back to the next few years of maintenance mode and no changes of content past the latest money-milk lockbox.
They're bringing in people who have experience in doing content. I wouldn't go all gloomy-doomy just yet. Also, look up the definition of maintenance more. What we're getting right now is not that.

Considering it took CryptNorth being given the reigns for any substantial changes, QoL improvements, or new content past lockboxes and vehicles to spend Zen on, the reigns being passed back to the same people that were content to leave things without any substantial changes at all past the Dodge Nerf for *years* is not reassuring.
"Right now" is the state of the game as made by the people at Cryptic North, now poached to other games, and things passed back to Cryptic, who were happy to let things lie stagnant with literally years.

I read it too.
They are bringing ONE person and removing at least two(Lordgar and radioscience).
It does not say who will be working on the game or how many?
Only that it will no longer be worked on at Seattle.
Is CN moving or have they been relegated to other projects?
It's amazing to watch the wave of panic in action, the way it feeds itself and grows bigger and bigger. It's like a person saying the sky is falling, and every time they hear themselves say it they think they just heard more evidence that it actually is.

Recent Cryptic job openings suggest that CN will be involved in console projects, like unto Neverwinter for the XBone - which makes sense, as Microsoft HQ is just across the lake in Redmond. Last I checked, they were also looking for people with FPS experience, which may indicate the mysterious Fourth Secret Project is a shooter (or may not, don't quote me).
This reminds me of Kremlinology in the old days - the study of who was in or out in the Soviet regime based on who stood where on the balcony during May Day parades, and who said what in official interviews. I think our version is more fun, of course.

Doesn't "passed back to the same people" presume that there were people? As I recall it, before Cryptic North, there was a giant Neverwinter-sized crater where our development team used to be.
I've been as cynical as anybody about CO's development, but I can't help but see this as a good thing. No more absentee landlords, no more trainees, just people who have experience and history with the game's mechanics and its development tools.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
Thanks Jonsills for the extra info, so why are they hiring extra people when they just fired a bunch? wrong skills?
Id like to thank the team at Cryptic North for their excellent work on Champions while it was in our Seattle office, especially Tom Atkinson-Edwards, Russell Williams, and Raymond Wood. Theyve added some memorable moments to the game, including the Fatal Err0r and Steel Crusade story arcs. Theyll still be helping us out in part with planning of new content.
This bit, CN is not working on CO but providing input for planning , so who exactly is working on the game and how many?

Under instruction from PWE, they laid off 1-2 people from STO (depending on whether you count Community Managers, who are actually PWE employees - Capt. Smirk went bye-bye, along with Matt Miller), and an unknown number from NW (in order to bring their staffing numbers in line with STO's, reportedly). Nobody was lost from the CO staff at the time; since CO was essentially Cryptic North, I'm assuming CN didn't lose anyone either.

Part time or full time?
That part we have to guess at, but the project is being relocated again, back to the home office in Los Gatos rather than Seattle. CN's probably still got some stuff they had laid out for the future, I would guess, and would then be helping the CO staff in Los Gatos plan it out.
And no, I don't know why Matt didn't just get transferred to CO either. Based on his work on the Klingon tutorial, we could have really used him here...
