New Power Suggestion: Dead Eye

This is basically a clone of Concentration, only with a different trigger. Dead Eye would be a form power that grants stacks of concentration when an attack crits.

Currently, the only form powers that grant stacks of concentration give it when you either apply a poison for Aspect of the Infernal or, when you charge or maintain a power or, when you hit from at least 25 ft. away for Concentration.

Repeatedly attacking from +25 ft. can be problematic once a fight has started. The other requirements can result in numerous powers being overlooked when making a build due to them not having any synergy with Concentration or Aspect of the Infernal. A form power that grants stacks of concentration for crits can potentially make a large number of click based ranged powers more viable for builds and help create build diversity. In terms of development, it's one that should be relatively easy to make too since CO already has all the code needed for such a power already implemented in the game.

Form of the Tempest stacks on crit.

Yes, but that gives focus, not concentration. He is asking for a concentration version.

Yes, focus stacks, which scale by Dexterity, which gives crit chance. Seems like a match made in heaven to me.

I think there's a very good reason they made the requirements for stacking that Concentration has, and making a ranged form that completely bypasses all of them would not only run counter to those reasons, it would also render Concentration obsolete.

There's a reason the Specialist uses FotT.

Yes, but focus increases melee damage by alot and ranged by only half that.

You could always use Aspect of the Machine...fml.

I honestly rather them not make new powers until they can fix all the old ones first, thus proving their capability. But that requires an expert game designer who understands and plays this game.

Yes, and there's a reason for that.

Concentration is already basically as simple as "use ranged powers". The minor stipulations don't warrant a new form that is even more that. If someone really really needs their stacking for their ranged character to be even easier, then they pay for that with a teeny tiny eeny weeny short short shriveled little reduction in their damage output.

I'm all for new forms that do things in new interesting ways. Making a form to bypass the minor game play requirements of a current form seems pointless and counterproductive.

    True enough.
