Aaaaaaw. It's nice to see people of that age who are still so innocent :3

At least they don't have a job that requires them to be worldly.

Right. Some guy named "America's Wang" had this to say, "You know society's healthy when we look to the most culturally illiterate for insight."

My ex fiancee worked at the hotel that played host to Anthrocon in Pittsburgh. She legitimately played witness to the urban legend EVERY FURRY SAYS NEVER HAPPENS: At least 4 of the rooms tried to order litter boxes. She also said they flat out had to dispose of a ton the bedsheets as if they were biohazards, and a lot of the maids quit after the con. I saw pictures, and I don't know if it was a bed wetting issue or the fact that some of them were rather large and sweaty. Neither would surprise me. But, it would probably have been considered a war crime to request anyone else to ever sleep on that stuff.

I personally had the misfortune of having some of these guys (and they were, nearly across the board, guys) show up at one of the restaurants I was working at at the time. We had to bar them from the business entirely. Our regular customers complained like crazy, and for good reason. They were loud, messy, disruptive, never tipped, and I can't even get into the smell. Fursuits are mostly hand made, so they can't be washed very easily and need to be dry cleaned. Mix this with the fact that they're wearing them in a hot convention center for upwards of 8 hours a day, then coming out in public sans-shower and often STILL wearing the suits?

This was a matter of time. The leadership behind this community needs to do what the anime cons do, and release guidelines. "Don't be a tool, and maybe shower after you've been in the hot convention center all day" kinda stuff.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if one of the locals finally had enough and snapped. Before we quit having them in our restaurant, for example, traffic was down nearly by half of what it normally was when people noticed them there. And when we kicked them out, they were sure to point out how much money they brought to the region. I pretty much took special pleasure in mentioning that they would take up lots of space, 3 of them split fries and a water, and they never tipped.

Yes that justifies murder. We should kill all smelly people who have bad manners.

.... anyone got a spare zombie virus laying around? We're gonna need to go big on this one.

Never said that. There's a difference between understanding why someone would snap and advocating or condoning it.

Can't be any worse than anthropomorphic trees.

Speaking of, the comments on that video plays really heavy on the guilt by association angle. It ought to be titled, "Thousands Promote Terrorism And Post Death Threats Without Consequence".

Most definitely. I've got furry friends, I get along with em real well. But god, a convention that big about a thing that fringe? I'd think a "they tend to think we're strange anyway, don't fuel them" request would be in order. This is why BDSM conventions tend to have a lot of people in suits having dinner afterward. Sometimes you just have to leave the dungeon where it is, and come face the public respectably. Does a lot for the perception of the community.

As a furfag, I'd agree. As w/ any other pursuit, one should leave the seedy side out of the public sphere as much as possible. These kinda things going on in a major hotel in a major city- barely (or not at all) away from prying eyes? Yeah, big problem there. Even if they no longer consider themselves 'human', those convention-goers are still in a world benefiting from man-made technology and infrastructure- some basic respect of the supporting system and the non-affiliate locale is in order (that includes, ofc, basic hygienic practices :x ).

That said, what happened to those at the Con was awful. Would be less likely to happen in the future w/ better regulations, though (and after this incident, I wouldn't be surprised if there were- people tend to learn quickly from mistakes or negative events).
