These come from chalupaoffury's Archetype thread, and I thought it would make a cool thread of its own...no reason to clutter up his thread with this stuff.
most of my characters are either young adults or teenagers.
My main is 22.
My power armor tank, one of my oldest characters along with my main, is around 28.
My electric dps is 19.
I have a 16 year old telepath as well, Prodigy.
and then we have Chain, who's friggin over 1000 years old lmao.
Most of my characters are in their mid-late twenties / early 30s.. Manhunter's 30-ish, Drifter would be (were she not, y'know, a ghost), The Saint is actually nearly a hundred but looks to be no more than 20-ish (biokinetic cellular regeneration); my only teen character is Sister Sabbath, and that's due to her being a blatant NicoMinoru homage.
The characters I play often are none of them human, and they're all short. 5' is my tallest. Frogs, bugs, snakes, rats...if you collected my characters on one page, they could make a great cover for Wind in the Willows.
Comments
Most of them are quite tall. As an RPer, my dream would be for my characters to be able to interact in real time instead of having to write up encounters, as most of my toons to an extent are interconnected.

Then I make characters like 'Dino eating a cookie on nom nom '....
For the most part I do tend to make very serious looking characters with an attitude to match, they're usually either young adults or middle aged.. My oldest character ( that isn't a god) is 54, and has genetically modified DNA for slower aging and increased strength, his appearance is stuck around early thirties..
For characters like my 'Dino eating a cookie', he has the mind of a 3 year old, occasionally noms people's leg out of habit and turns into a gigantic angry plushie if you take his cookie away. (His cookie is a plushie as well) Just for fun.
I very rarely make animal themed characters.. ( mainly because I don't like a lot of the head models)
Elemental characters are also my favourite types if characters to make.
Im a bit of an all-rounder really.... as long as I can make a costume for it, I'll make it work.:biggrin:

Champions Online.. where we sell lockboxes by the dozen.
I also have a character for a story I made up years and years ago, that character being a shapeshifted dragon that controls the elements. ( He was supposed to be the main villain of the story, but I can't really do any villainy in Champions. )
Another is one of Santa's reindeer, Cupid, which I play alongside some friends who use other reindeer. :P Rudolph, Blitzen, and Donner.
Last character that I actually care at all about is a very angry non-super-powered vigilante, who uses sneakiness and guns to take out criminals he feels weren't adequately punished for their wrongdoings.
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!
For example I have had a rejected Qulaar mutant hatchlling, basically a 6 winged miniature Qulaar.
A power armor user who doesn't actually use the power armor powerset, but the force powerset.
A sword wieilding giant mecha robot.
A little kid who found out he had powers when his parents were attacked by the Qulaar.
etc...
I have made humans in the past before but I had the ability they would turn into some kind of animal, like a dragon or lizard.
Since I am Silver all of them uses ATs so that adds to the challenge of making up a concept that would fit for that AT. I always did prefer a challenge All of which are RP ready by the time I make them.

I take avantage of the FreeForm system to match their Theme!
Some of them have Basic Builds and some others complicated Builds (Crescendo is #1 more Fun Build I have)
Although, I do have a toy toon with no back story, because I've been lazy.
If I had to assign an age, it would be in the 30s for most simply because that's around my age. Real imaginative, I know. For a long time, there really weren't any characters my age in games, so I make my own. It's that whole wanting to see characters like me be the star of the game / movie / TV show. I'm still waiting.
Something else I don't do is make god, demons, or any other ridiculously powerful toons. It's just boring to me from a writer's perspective. Although, I do tend to make parody characters or ones with a silly back story. I like to tell a funny story. If someone laughs at my toon's bio, that's awesome.
Not a fan of clone or homage toons. Why would I want to play as someone else's toon instead of my own? I am guilty of making way too many homage costumes though. It might be fun to theory craft a build, but to actually play as that toon? Nope.

That way, I can kinda play some favorites from the comics, but with a twist. And still be a bit creative.
Some examples:
The Gun-isher (The Punisher) color-blind, pink chainmail wearing, Munitions toon
The Ignorable Woman (The Invisible Woman) Many -perception powers
Bugman (Spiderman) Darkness, from a radioactive cockroach, cuz he "gives you the creeps"
Lead Foot (Iron Fist) MA w/ foot attacks
Duchess Viagrah Cialis Dulevitra (Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) Muni,PA,Gadgets
Note: I stopped collecting/reading in the early 90s, so I only know about characters like Deadpool,etc from hearsay.

"Okay, you're DEAD, what do you do NEXT?"
Then there are the ones that are induced by random thoughts or forum discussions. Those are generally amusing homages - Spider-Bat, Captain Americlown, and most recently the Duck Knight (a Batman homage with a duck head and a bird chest symbol).
And then there was one serious one inspired by the forums - Kilbern, inspired by a discussion of whether player characters could even be gods. He was once Kilbern Skyfather, chief of the gods during the Turakian Age; his power had been bound to the sword Auralia, which was used to defeat Takofanes the Undying and was buried with Tako to ensure he would never rise again. Kilbern's worship died out over time; without followers, the old god grew weaker. He wound up in a far corner of the Elysian Fields, in the gods' equivalent of a retirement home. Then came the day the Circle of the Scarlet Moon completed the Blood Moon ritual, overcame the bindings, and released Takofanes once more. The disturbance of Auralia sent ripples between the worlds that caught the Skyfather's attention; he gathered the few remaining dregs of divine might he still possessed, fought his way between the worlds, and wound up, weak as any mortal superhuman, on the streets of Millennium City. He's working now to rebuild his power (turns out fame works almost as well as worship for that) so he can put down Takofanes once and for all. Nobody believes he's an actual god, of course; very few even know the name "Kilbern", and those few scholars who do assume he's just a superhero who took a name from the ancient myths.
As for age, most of my characters have the ageless adulthood common to comics. Kilbern is the second-oldest of them, being several thousand years old; the Lawgiver, an amalgamation of two even older robots, makes Kilbern look like a kid. I suppose the youngest would be Happifun Security System X-4, which first came online in 2009, during the Qularr Invasion.

Ratasassin- manimal. Half rat, half human...half awesome. I consider him about 30 years old.
Nisroc- Celestial in human form, very old looking(kinda Clint Eastwoodish)
Black Arachnid- human. Age...40s
Minecrash- human. 50s (there seems to be an age pattern I was unaware of)
Little Action-Man- human. Shapeshifter but can only form the shape of movie star, 1/8 of the size.
Augustus "the hammer" steel- human. late 40s as well.
Sigma Red- human. Late 40s.
Okay...I have a thing for old men it seems.
Purple Heart-human. Age.....&@&%! 80s
Golden Age Golden Girl- human. Age.....okay I'm not gonna continue. I didn't realize this pattern.
They aren't supposed to be anything groundbreaking, just to fit the genre.
I never play underage characters, nor I really like high fantasy themes.
Ages are:
human, 28 yrs,
synthetic, built as an equiavelnt of roughly 35+ yrs
synthetic, built as an equivalent of roughly 25+ yrs
ex-human, 27 yrs
human, 24 yrs
ex-human, 27 yrs
human, 35 yrs
humanlike alien, 30 yrs
human, 21 yrs
human, 56 yrs, but looks under 40
human, 93 yrs, but looks between 20 and 30
alien, rougly above 900 solar cycles old, translates to 10 000 yrs
None looks younger than early twenties.

Sister Silicon, way back in the CoH days, explained the Elec/Elec Blaster choice as a full-conversion cyborg with an advantageous glitch in her power delivery subsystem. She was originally fresh out of college, so she's now in her 30s.
Hitomi Hanzo was always supposed to be* a mix of single-blade and munitions, so I came up with an ex-Yakuza in witness protection becoming a private eye. Think of an excessively-armed Colleen Wing. She's around 40 years old. (* I somehow got her to 40 without ever feeling I had her build right.)
The Heavy Weapon release led me to Nuada Silverarm as a dime-store Thor knockoff. He started out as a 30-year-old ex-Air Force officer wounded in a VIPER raid.
MINA is probably the first time I've gone character-first in CoH or CO. She'd be Prime's sidekick if we had a sidekick system that allowed us to customize our own. Started with JARVIS, added a little Andromeda (but not the Kevin Sorbo parts, oh no), leveled her up for a while, then sent her to Ravenswood Academy because she's book-smart, but had the social skills of a reclusive 8th grader.
Khamsin... I don't know where I'm going there, other than the starting point of "Why doesn't Millennium City have any Arab heroes, considering the large Arab community in Dearborn?".
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
At first, my characters were urban-themed. Lately, however, I've become more interested in the "tights and spandex" deal, ever since I bought the Classic Hero Tights(?) and the like. ^^
My inability to create a good female costume (or at the very least, be satisfied with it) has prevented me from making any female characters. :c
no really i play every type
My current alts are marrying ideas and builds I want to try out. For example, I was curious about both Heavy Weapons and the Medieval costume set. Thus was born Princess Erin, the giant honkin' staff wielding ren faire superheroine.
(Totally worth it. Brimstone is the epic looking power of all epic looking powers.)
Meaning, not your typical comic book hero look alike.
I tend to make them in the form of my heritage or friends of mine.
I'm part Korean and Black American. Therefore a lot of characters tend to have darker skin tone and some form of Asian and or American likeness. (Form of dress or Color)
I have 44 toons. 4 of those are Big Cats. Tiger. Panther. Lion. Saber tooth.
Age: my toons are all grown ups. They tend to be anywhere from 25-45 yrs of age.
I play both Women and Men characters equally. To be honest, i rather look at a females behind than a dudes when playing for awhile.
My favorite type to play: Melee. Favorite toons: Love-hammer. Epic. Griffon.
I rarely write stories or backgrounds for my characters, but for those that I do, they're always pretty mundane. I don't have any planet-crushing invincible god people or anything like that. The dumber or funnier the characters are to me, the more fun I have with them.
My homage characters mostly come in the tokusatsu variety with characters inspired by the likes of Kaman Rider and Ultraman. My youngest human character is around 14 and the oldest is pushing 40 with most somewhere in between.
And later, after I decide to flesh them out, they all get incorporated into a big silly canon that they're all intertwined in, at which point usually the most similar characters (or most diametrically opposed ones) become partners or nemesis' or whatever.
I guess my unconscious brain is thinking: hey, you get to play a human everyday of your life. Why not play something else when you can? As for what the super-short thing is about...no idea. Probably something profound about my psychology.
....and look good doing it.
Sometimes I make an exception and create a character that is meant to be the opposite. I usually end up deleting them.
'Caine, miss you bud. Fly high.
Besides that, pretty flexible. Supernatural, might, energy projectors, martial arts, munitions, celestial, telekinesis, and upcoming darkness and power armor.
In STO, I have a diverse array of characters many of them inspired by non-star trek things. One is a Terminator for example....

Rather fight for the rights of every man.
-Nekulnnir, is my first character in CO from the open beta, a "young" half-Dwarf from Nidavellir, over 100 years old (Behemoth);
-Magnus Dvergar is an elf from other dimension, thousands of years old (Grimoire);
-Oni Ryu is an ex-Yakuza ninja, originally intended to be a man turned into machine against his will, but I added some human forms later (Unleashed);
-Israfel is an albino Archangel, one of the 2 only taller characters I have, probably he'd be my oldest character (Radiant);
-Njord Djinn is an african man I created as an homage to X-Men's Storm (Squall);
-Gillius Eitri is an ax-wielding Dwarf from Nidavellir, never thought of his age though (Devastator);
-Nate Garrett is a human young-adult with psychich powers which was kept as victim of experiments (Mind);
-Sagitta Orion is some kind of vigilante or agent (Marksman);
-Nifelheim is a frost-giant from... ehrm... Nifelheim (Glacier);
-Gigas Absque is probably an alien with greenish white hair (Impulse);
-Erythros Indra, an albino human with electric powers (Tempest);
-Ifrit Angra, a brazillian guy who received his powers from an indigenous god of fire (Inferno);
-Finally, Vlad Bathory and Bahadur are in fact the same character with different names, the first being a Void AT and the latter a recreation I made as a Freeform. He is a middle-eastern man who turned into some kind of soul-vampire as a result of curses from both the zarathustrian gods of good and evil when he was about his 40s. (He's the guy in my avatar)
I lol'd at Bugman, really nice idea! Ignorable Woman also is a great name for a parody.

on the characters i did more work on they tend to be damaged characters with big traumas in their pasts that inform their current desire to stand up and fix a messed up world. though i tend to make them more the iron willed heroic types rather tahn grim, more Trigun than batman. also, most are weird looking by comics standards,a bit more in line with manga. im also big on the nightcrawler style characters who's appearances are off-putting but their character is heroic and good. part of this is that i like the theme, and part of it is because with all the accessory slots, i have a hard time keeping my characters looking like anything human, option overload, ya know?
Only if you plan to party all the time
Rather just party
My whole purpose is to create homages to any and all kinds of archetypal heroes (and villains/nemeses as far as that goes) from the comics. Variety is what I'm all about. :biggrin:
like Drake being a Intergalactic Battle-mage, loosely correlates to Forum Malvanum, and Supreme Dragon, Ex-Viper General, loosely based from being Head of the Dragon Branch, he made the Branch. x3
I take this quote from a review that I agree with.
"customisation is so linear; everyone is after the optimal dps:survivability ratio with 0 reliance on other players = autonomous gameplay... Players don't need each other anymore... which in my opinion is a bad thing."
My teen-aged Harajuku Girl Japanese robot, Go Girl. Apologies, I've had a bit of a Babymetal obsession of late. :biggrin:

Lord Death of Murder Mountain would have words with you!
I also have a few robots and mutants and such. I do have one big shiny beacon of heroness but I have problems making them look anything more than 2d dullards. I do have quite a few aliens as well the CO lore is so open and adaptable it is really great for making up characters of all kinds.
For some reason I find myself drawn to Dark heroes and villains I just find them more interesting. I Blame a lot of 80s and 90s cartoons and such and also Spiderman and Batman. Where the bad guys always seemed more interesting or to have more fun. Also comics like judge dredd and lots of sci fi stuff helped this.
I now end my confession. :redface:
