Old player new account here. I've been gone for awhile since launch and there seems to have been a lot of changes, so I hope no one minds if I ask a few "newbie" type questions.
I managed to get a character to lvl 21 this weekend, and I remember when getting a nemesis was kind of automatic. Its changed obviously, so I am curious on how one goes about that now. I have no idea how to get nemesis points. I would have tried last night, but I kept getting "server not responding" so the game was unplayable. (I'm hoping its better today)
I guess the same goes for hideouts. I'll research it a bit but I don't even know where to start on that right now.
Whats the best way to go about progression at the start? I went to the desert, but doesn't that mean I'll outlevel the Canadian stuff?
Sorry for the general questions, but since I couldn't log in and look around for a good chunk of the past few days I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for any helpful tips.

As far as Canada and the Desert go, I like to switch between them depending on mission level, that way you don't completely outlevel one zone while doing the other.

That's a good idea that I'll have to keep in mind for future characters. I've noticed some mission changes. IIRC originally in the Mission "Battle of thee Foxbat stars" you had to disarm some bombs before confronting Foxbat. I wonder why that has changed as you no longer have to do it. I wonder what other missions have changed since launch?

A long while ago they wanted to streamline the early game, and in doing that (two or three times) they changed some missions to make them easier.

I have noticed that...some missions I thought were a little hard seem easiy now. Or maybe I'm just playing a good build or being more careful. It doesn't seem linear now, the game, though. I get missions in other zones that I know will outlevel me for the zone I'm in at the moment. I guess its a way of making people make alts.
The difficulty of the game was drastically reduced when they made some power changes and added the Specializations, without changing the difficulty of the enemies. We got extra power, they stayed the same.

I was going to say that it makes the game a little too easy, but its not that bad. Especially after getting a nemesis, I've found. I know that nemesis minions will appear and attack but I wasn't aware that they did so within an instanced mission. But in my last session a bunch of nemesis mooks showed up and dogpiled me in a fight with a hard enemy. Needless to say I was quickly between since I wasn't ready to fight that many foes.

Hideouts are available all the time from your map menu or with minimap button, as long as you own any.
