The Cosmic Key Event! - 2014

Hi guys,

This is an open invitation to all to attend the second "Cosmic Key Event!"

DATE: 21st of June 2014
TIME: 2PM Server Time
PLACE: Powerhouse Theatre

The Cosmic Key Event will be comprised of three main parts, namely:

- Costume Contest (10 categories)

- Player Versus Player Tournament ( AT vs AT and FF vs FF )

- Final Event: CO Trivia Event!

Last year I did something similar here >>Cosmic Key Event 2013<<, but this time I've upped the prizes a little.

Character Concept Costume Contest

The following categories have been chosen: (There will be both Male and Female winners for each category and both villains and hero characters can be brought along)

- NO CAPES - This category is Evening Wear / Classic Civilian looks

- Military/Agent of the Government Theme Superhero/Villain (in the villains case this could be an organisation like VIPER instead of government)

- Powered Armour (Can include robots)

- Dark/Hell dimension

- Divine/Light

- Magical Creature Concept (Mythological in nature or magic based species, includes Furries!!)

- Future Hero/Villain (Futuristic costumes!)

- Homage Category (From CO/DC/Marvel etc)

- Classic Hero/Villain/Vigilante

- Best representation of an Element or Nature

- BEST (This category is for the TWO best costumes and is not restricted to theme and receives a special prize)

Please note: This Costume Contest, like last time, will require you to have a costume which best represents your character's concept. Your character's bio will be taken into account on this front.

Rules are as follows:

- Auras are allowed.

- No hate/rage PMs directed at judges or other contestants please, it ruins the mood.

- Switching: Will be allowed. However, please note that the idea is to gain as many winners as possible, not just one or two winners. Bio checking will be used as a precaution as these costume categories should reflect your toons concept.

PvP Tournament - Team VS Team

Held: Powerhouse Arena space

AT vs AT

FF vs FF

Few things, for both AT and FF teams, try to have a fight without exchanging less than pleasant words outside of the battle...this is meant to be a fun event.

I will say for the PvP, both teams should be balanced in terms of having someone to fill a role, this is in an ideal world however. Just to attempt to make this fair.

One AT team and One FF team can be classed as winners.

Rules

Please leave all Neuroelectric Pulse Generators, Dino babies, Necrullitic Elixirs, Eruptions, Telekinetic Force Field Inducers and the like, AT HOME. In other words no device usage please! Please leave all devices which heal, buff, summon, attack, debuff, control, shield, teleport etc out of the fight.

Basically anything which would enhance your character's fighting ability outside of the 14 power points which all players have access to in game.

Prize Allocation - Costume Contest

110 Keys – 10 keys per category (5 keys to male winner, 5 keys to female winner)

Your choice of two items from the D Store & three pieces of Legion Gear <-- Winners of Best Category (in addition to Keys)

Naginatas <-- Winners of Future Hero Category (In addition to Keys)

Your choice of one item from Drifter Store <-- Winners of NO CAPES Category (in addition to Keys)

Nimbus of Force <--Winners of Divine/Light Category (In addition to Keys)

Strike Hawkwings <-- Winners of Powered Armor Category (In addition to Keys)

Note: There will be runner up prizes as well, these will consist of power replacers, costume pieces, mods (6-8), auras and other things. It is entirely possible for everyone to leave the event with something.

Prize Allocation - Team PvP Tournament

50 Keys – 25 keys per team (5 keys per person in each team, for both AT and FF)

Legion Gear (x 5, one piece per person in the winning AT team)

1kG - (200G per team member on the winning FF team)

Note: Based on player preference, players can decide between receiving Legion Gear OR G, this will be on an individual basis, so either one Legion Piece OR 200G and so on.

Prize Allocation - CO Trivia Event

50 Keys – 10 keys per winner

There will be five winners, in addition to their keys, each one will receive a prize bundle. Prize Bundles are based on how quickly they are able to complete the Trivia Event, however each one contains the same number of prizes.

1. Skyfox + Legion Gear x 3 + Psionic Shield
2. Naginata Alpha + 2 Vehicle Mods (rank 6) + Ice Sheathe Aura
3. Fire Ant + Legacy Device Kit + Two Costume Unlocks from a selection
4. Legion Gear Piece + Psionic Shield + Ice Sheathe Aura
5. Psionic Shield + Ice Sheathe Aura + Teleiosaurus Pheromones


Note

Depleted Uranium Core, A Costume Change Token, Super Shrinker Device, 1000G and Power Replacers will be randomly gifted to players throughout the event.

For the final event, how about a CO-Trivia + find the judge event, aka the Amazing race style?
You have a series of questions and checkpoints, with judges.

Judges are scattered across maps (MC,MI,Canada..etc) who contestants need to get to with answers, in order to progress to the next question/challenge...etc. Rewards can be determined by who completed all the challenges 1st, or the most amount of challenges within a given time...etc.

In regards to questions/challenges - well thats up to you, but happy to give some more ideas

CO Trivia Event

Judges will be scattered across the various zones in CO.

Each judge will have a series of questions regarding CO Lore, which is readily accessible in game and will require you to provide a correct answer before progressing to the next question.

All the judges will be accessible via vehicles and travel powers.

There are prizes for the top five fastest players to answer the questions and return back to Millennium City's PSI Building (where Mentella will be).

Questions as previously stated will be based on LORE readily accessible in game via missions.

There will also be bonus questions for those who want to get in with a chance of winning an extra prize by answering questions based on CO Lore not accessible in game.

The PvP prizes for winning AT vs winning FF team seem unbalanced and silly assumptions.

Legion gear is worth more than 200g. Well, most of it is. If an AT gets a piece, they'd have to barter it away since they can't throw it on the AH. It also assumes that ATs don't get legion gear and that FFs do. That FFs have more globals and ATs are poor.

I think it would be harder to judge or see what's going on in general in PoHo arena fights. Unless you plan to TP to Team break the arena.

By devices, do you just mean legacy devices or any device that can fit into the device tray? What about those healy patches from the rec vendors? The cash shop things? Pre-order devices? You only listed legacy devices which makes me think that non-legacy devices are acceptable.

My reasoning on handing Legion to ATs rather than FFs is that FFs may be more driven to look towards Justice Gear than gaining more Legion Gear.

For this particular prize I'm not sure it matters a great deal who gets what, I've allocated the prizes in a certain way for now. If it comes to light that the FF's who win would rather have Legion Gear then I can deal with that so that each team receives a reward.

In fact, I could present the winners to choose between Legion Gear or G.

Or the fights could be hosted outside the actual separate arenas using Team Duelling spheres. Or in an RP instance like Carl's Gym.

The only device which would probably be "okay" would be Vesperine Cloak.

I was comparing the prizes not saying that ATs and FFs were fighting each other. That's why I said the prizes for winning as an AT VS the prizes for winning as an FF. And you made another assumption that AT won't get Justice gear. And the assumption that ATs are silver and FFs are gold. My guess is that anyone who PvPs, AT or FF, is going to have the best gear they can get their grubby little hands on already.

If you want to see what people are doing, it's super easy to run a combat log and check. I don't know if that would work if you were outside the arena bubble though. Where you want to host is your business, I'm just raising the question of ease of judging. And the arena kind of sucks for spectators.

Wouldn't it just be easier to say "Your device tray should be totally empty for this tournament."?

My assumption was based on the desire for Legion Gear amongst "Silver AT" players. If players decide to accept the Legion Gear and then sell it on, that is entirely up to them.

If FF's decided to use the money for something, again it's up to them.

Prize allocation will no doubt have to be altered IF not enough people turn up for the event OR do not participate in this part of the event.

I'm hoping for the same number if not more people turning up to this event as they did last year and back then people were willing to fight funnily enough.

The idea behind the PvP portion, in my own mind was to get players to team up and fight, in a good natured/fun way. Not for groups of PvPers to team up and own or attempt to own each other.

Regardless of what happens I hope people just flat out have fun at the event. Prizes for this part of the event (If Legion is not desired) can be changed to G.

I've been overwhelmed by donations so far so it's very likely a lot of people will leave with multiple items outside of the main prizes. ^_^

I've literally been inundated with prizes, outside of those allocated, there are many which still need to be dealt with! xD

So much so I am seriously considering saving them for another event during the summer IF there is enough left!

As for judging goes, that's covered.

For the PvP event, I'm not banking on an overwhelming amount of people joining in with that and I've planned for the PvP event and the CO Trivia Event.

So from what I am aware of right now, everything is in place. My only concern is that if there enough space in the PH Theatre for this, there was a lot of interest last year and I think we barely made it.
