Power Set: alien metabolism

So, idea for a new power set borrowing a name from the old crafting system. It'll center around shapeshifting and radiation. The shapshifting powers should fit in with Ooze Tunneling and Ron'ish (SP?) powers, colored instead of black.

Energy Builder/Fighting Attack
--- Gamma Vision: In appearance it would be a lot like Eye Beam except the beam is broken up into glowing pulses to distinguish it from that power. The initial pulse can cause Rad Sickness
Advantage 2 pt, Stargazer: Every pulse can cause Rad Sickness

Tier 0 Powers:
---Radiation Blast: Standard Blast 100ft range type attack that can cause Rad Sickness.
Advantage 2 pt, Reactor Leak: Causes Rad Sickness in a 15' AoE from primary target.

---Far Strike You wind up with the Haymaker animation and from the 'punch' an 'ooze' fist stretches out to 50' striking your target and knocking them back. It might look like a ranged melee attack but for game effects it's just another blast.
Advantage 1pt: Slap Stick. On a full charge the knock back becomes a knock toward.

Tier 1 Powers

---Tendril attack: PBAoE. Tendrals sprout from your sholders and whip the area around you for crushing damage. At Rank 2 two also sprout from your chest. Rank 3, two more sprout from your back.
Advantage 2pt: Gamma Flail. Targets suffering from Rad Sickness take extra damage from each stack they have.

Snatch Knock toward, Root: This looks like and shares the animation with the ron'ish knock toward attack. It causes crushing damage and roots your target for a short time.

Radio Active Hazard A ranged maintain in the vein of Ebon Rift. The longer you maintain it the longer it lasts after you stop. A glob of radio active waste forms at the target location and causes particle damage and Rad Sickness.

Alien Defense Shield Power. From the standard blocking stance ooze quickly covers your entire forearm and shapes itself into an oval. It should look like your arm turned into a shield rather than like you're holding one.

Defensive Adaptation Passive Defense. (I'm not too sure if this one is a great idea or not or if can even be implemented easily. I thought up this power before the aura update and had a cool idea for the visuals but they might not be useful as a stand alone aura now.) As you take damage you gain stacks of Adaptation for that damage type (particle, crushing, energy, etc) increasing your resistance to that damage type. It would be stronger than Defiance, but you'd have to build stacks to every type of damage instead of just a generic defense.

For example: You're fighting Kevin Poe and he's hit you with a bunch of Munition powers and now you're mostly impervious to crushing damage. But then he hits you with Shadow Embrace and your resistance to that kind of damage is still minimal.

Tier 2 Powers

---Critical Mass 100' Blast attack that causes big particle damage and causes stacks of Rad Sickness to explode (and clearing them from the target) doing more damage and creating a small 10' AoE depending on the stacks consumed.

---Under Cut Ranged AoE knock up. You thrust tendrils into the ground and they emerge as an area of spikes the the target location. Knocking up to 5 targets into the air

---Crushing Grasp Ranged Damage, Hold. Two big ooze hands stretch out from your arms and grasp the target doing crushing damage for the duration of the maintain.

---Doppelganger You target a humanoid and activate the power and you shape shift to look just like him. The power replaces your character model with the one you targeted. In effect you're stealthed with the same chance of being spotted. The power breaks if you attack or are attacked and your travel powers are deactivated while it's in effect. In PvP I'm thinking all it does is change the color of your name so it appears you're on the other team unless their stealth detection is high enough to 'see' through it.

Since it's not a passive like Night Warrior it won't give you any kind of damage boost except on your first attack. Maybe even make that damage boost a 2 pt advantage called Sucker Punch.

Tier 3 Powers

---Treachery You throw a glob of ooze at a target and their model is replaced with yours causing hostal NPCs to attack him for a short time, like maybe 3 or 4 seconds. Put this one on a cool down and give the target a taunt that effects his allies.

---Amoeba PBAoE maintain. You melt as if using the Ooze Tunnling power but then spread out and tendrils emerge from the puddle and start whipping around causing damage in an area and damage range of Epidemic. You can slide around moving at your normal speed. If flying you'll look like a flattened glob with tendrils whipping out from underneath as well.
Advantage 2 pt: Sticky, Targets in the area are slowed for the duration.
Advantage 2 pt: Semi Solid. You gain a big booste to dodge whil maintaining the power.

---Martian Slam You raise your hands over your head and a pair of huge, over exaggerated forearms grow out of your arms. Then you slam them down doing big damage to your primary target and knocking them down (if the technology allows it would be even cooler if it could drive them into the ground) and paralyzing them for a short time. Nearby targets take half that damage from the shockwave.

Rad Sickness is a debuff/DOT similar to plasma burn that stacks up to 5. It causes some damage over time but the main benefit is that the sickness slows your target down causing them to lose Dodge rating.

I don't know for sure where to put the set, maybe energy projection or perhaps Super Natural if you think aliens belong there. Ideally I'd like a new super framework (I forget the actual terminology) called Cosmic where other new Frameworks can be placed such as Power Cosmic (for Silver Surfer, Captain Atom, Captain Marvel, etc type powers) and Hard Light (for energy constructs like Quasar or Green Lantern).

What do you think?

I think they've already said, and more than once, that due to the way the game's rendering engine is set up to accomodate the immense degree of customization, that shapeshifting/slime/elastic powers would be impossible without breaking the way character models function.

I'm not really suggesting that your character's arm or hand stretches out. Just a solid colored projection. It doesn't try to match your costume or anything. Essentially it's just a fist shaped blast with out glowing effects and a tether, if you will, that looks a bit like a forearm rather than a trail of light such as Force Blast has. It's as much a part of your character's model as the Telekinetic Lance construct is.

The Martian Slam shouldn't really be any harder than making a heavy weapon type construct that covers the forearms rather than just being held in the hand.

Ooze Tunneling's opening animation already covers your character with a kind of slime then sinks you into the ground. Follow that with creating a patch of writhing ooze and you have Amoeba.

Undercut would use about the same techniques as Crippling Coils for the attacker's part and any of the powers that cause a construct to appear at the target like Ice Burst or Upheaval.

The only one I think would be a problem would probably be Doppelganger since I don't know if the game is capable of on the spot model switching like that. I mean the game if rife with devices that can disguise you allowing you to pass undetected through enemies, hell one of the first mission you get in Westside can do that. But grabbing any model out of the game like that might be too much to hope for. Maybe a workaround could be making a generic model for each faction that you can shift into. For example, no matter what Viper agent you select you'll always become one of their generic solders. That wouldn't be nearly as much fun but I'd take it.

If I can use all that to create a Lovecraftian character, I'll sign this.
