Unless they mean the costumes that are showing up under the new Rampages, apparently we're getting the Magical Girl costume pack that showed up on PTS...tonight.

Although since they mention a new Aura too, and that definitely isn't in the Rampages...yeah, I'm going with the Magical Girl costume.

Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends

    Yeah, exactly what we need.

Magic Fantasy Champions Online, yay. Because that's the overwhelming thing in comic books. All them magic wizard fairy archer things.

    How blunt. <.<

It genuinely is getting tiresome. Pardon my frustration. There should be a bit of theme balance in costumes.

Maybe now We'll get more attention to Rampage ques then others not giving a damn, Tired of sitting in RC sending periodic Zone Message 'WTP Gravitar!, Please Que'... before playing something else, Hope it will last longer then Air Command Crisis Alert... dropped dead after 2 weeks.

Honest question have you not run Aftershock or Resistance? If not I'd be honored to team.

Regardless, for this customer they could be lima bean and magenta for all I care. I just want to fight something that can hurt me.

I have run Aftershock a few times, and truth be told? Once was enough for me to dislike it. Resistance isn't bad- I get frustrated not unlocking Drogen Lar's axe after so many tries.

I could agree with the gender-specific complaint (though, there are a number of costume options that are male-only as well).

However, the complaint about fantasy costumes? I'd say costume unlocks have been balanced over the long run. I don't at all see that this has become Fantasy Champions Online because we've had a couple of fantasy sets released to the Z-store recently.

BTW, I believe the Rampages will be having some modern costume parts within their reward drops. Firefighter gear, construction gear, etc.

Dark Demon Armor, Dark Fantasy Armor, Shining Knight, Fantasy Costume Set, Witch & Wizard set, Bone Armor, Arabian Knights, Egyptian, Archer Set, Dryad Set, Victorian Set, and now this Magic Girl set.

That's more than 'a couple', and far from 'balanced' when 'Superhero' type stuff is ignored and that's more than enough to say that whoever is coming up with these costume ideas might need to re-evaluate the theme of this game. About 65% of this game's content revolves around magic/mystical/fantasy themes. it should be more like 25%.

I'm holding a costume contest as we speak to send a message on this.

Please stop with gender-specific costume pieces and entire costume sets. Now we have two entire costumes that have nothing to do with Western Superhero comics that are gender-specific. Please stop doing this.

Personally I like to see the variety in themes for costume sets both serious and otherwise. However This Magical Girl set feels... rushed in comparison to the Archer set. Should have reversed the two and have the Archer in the Z Store and the Magic in the lockbox.

I agree completely that there should be a balance in available sets. Even if that includes some male only sets to balance the current female only ones. Ideally there should be more sets that are available to both males and females, even if the actual parts appear different for each (look at the golden age set, while similar in design they are balanced for a more feminine look and masculine look respectively)

And yes, I may be a fan of anime styles, and even out of the box heroes, but we do need more "classic" hero sets (ie: another tights set and more cape placement/emblem options and parts) and also more soldier/fighter styled sets and accompanying weapons.

Yeah...majority of the creation suite is still tailored around "classic" superheroes and and fantasy elements take up a fair chunk of comic books. This sounds more like complaining about stuff you don't have to use and forgetting that the superhero genre is pretty friggin' broad. And the Victorian set....really.....Fantasy?

Umm, is everything not mid-20th c. and later fantasy? I wouldn't include Shining Knight, Egyptian or Victorian here (might as well include the Oriental set then). I'd call them historical but attuned to the superhero mindset. Bone Armor could just as easily be some kind of sci-fi thing. I'm waiting for the Mesopotamian and Mycenaean sets.

Victorian I would say is not fantasy.

Other non-fantasy sets in the Z-store:
Robot Samuri, Nighthawk, Power Armor, Patterned Armor, Steelhawk, Iron Age, Roin'esh, Pulp, Tech Tights, Golden Age, Jetpacks, Retro Sci-Fi, Classic Hero Tights, Harajuku Girl (though I'm sure some will quip that it's close to the magic girl concepts and so should count), Heroic Formal, Elemental A-Symmetry, Luchador, City Street Defender...

I'm gonna stop there. My point is that there are PLENTY of options for fantasy, sci-fi, modern, historical, magical, technological, alien, undead, or whatever our minds come up with.

I don't mind a bit of fantasy addition, even non-Western fantasy. It just seems to me that if you want to play an anime character, there are already plenty of anime-styled games out there. Do we really need to put more of that in our Western-superhero game?

Also, if you're going to insist on including Magical Girls, let's at least make the costumes available to both genders. I'd love to see Lar deSouza's Sailor Bacon running around...

    'Plenty'.

Sorry, an overwhelming majority of this game's content leans toward magical/fantasy wear.

Sorry, I'm counting more than the C-Store, so let me add:

Aftershock. Malvan Armor. VIBORA BAY, EVERY COSTUME is some kind of magical/fantasy/fetish wear.

Run through the game and see how much, beyond the C-Store is something 'magic' or 'demon' or 'fantasy'. An overwhelming number, to the point where I have to say two things:

1- Knock it off, make stuff that fits the setting next.

2- Make an actual 'Fantasy Hero Champions' MMORPG and put this stuff there as well, because I'd actually play the hell out of it in that setting.

Most tech-themed pieces are found in Drifter Legacy boxes. Most of the weapons actually vanished from the game for On Alert!.

I don't mind 'some' fantasy. But I also would like to see this game stop catering to 'Not Superhero/Comic Book' stuff. Does it have to be 'tech'? No. But for God's sake, the people at Cryptic would do well to actually pick up a modern comic book or two and take some inspiration.

Fantasy elements occupy a smaller portion of Superhero comics than you realize.

Actually, I'm complaining because the trend is becoming annoying. I'm complaining about something I don't need to use, sure. I didn't need to use the vehicles. I didn't need a significant chunk of the things they made. However, they can get my money or not- I'm sure they don't 'need' my input in the suggestions thread, either. I'm complaining because I don't like this creative direction.

If that's 'wrong', then I'm not sure I like what right looks like- because it appears to be gender-specific Anime stuff that I avoid on purpose.

I will absolutely agree that stripping costume drops and perks when On Alert hit was very, very, very stupid of Cryptic. And I don't like how they brought back some of those parts (via drifter salvage).

I don't even like tights that much. I really don't. But I'd rather see tights than tunics.

And you can't convince me we needed more Japanese butt-bows and lacy dresses.

I just didn't (and still don't really) want to bother searching, but I certainly meant more than just a few non-fantasy stuff. When I look through parts to create new costumes for my toons, it looks like a fairly even mix to me.

That's just it, let me re-emphasize:

I don't want an 'even mix' of Italian, Mexican, Indian, French, and Soulfood when I go to the Chinese Buffet.

I want to see a lot of Chinese Food, with a few options for the other things in there just to change it up.

It's not like this was 'one of many' options. This was a C-Store costume option. These come around MAYBE once every two or three months- and so far, I think we've been lucky. The fact that it was wasted on pitching some Sailor Moon garbage that followed similar out-of-place themes is annoying. Do I think this costume looks bad? No, I can see a lot of pieces a lot of people would like to use in various different costumes. But now it'll be another two months before we see something else in the C-store.

Couple this with the fact that players have been begging for more tights, begging for more weapons, and begging for things like the Ninja set? It's kind of a shoddy thing, and I hope it's just a placeholder and something else is on the cooker.

This costume, while it's not impressive, isn't nearly the caliber detail as the Archer costume. The Archer set should have been in the C-Store, and this Sailor Moon Girl thing could have been a lockbox unlock for those who really feel the need to chase this thing.

Once again, let me re-state it:

I don't want this costume to go away. I am glad people like it. However, all I am saying is that we need to break this pattern up and pitch other things. And I don't mean by saying 'well you can use this piece' from a costume, I mean costumes tailored to different themes.

Please split this theme pattern up, and please stop making gender-specific costumes.

It would be AMAZING if we did a Magic/Traditional/Historical/Tech/Mutant/Cultural rotation. You'd hear not a single complaint.
