Silly idea that worked

Ever had one of those character ideas that are really just too silly to work - but when you put it together it does work?

My most recent one is Wrathchild, like the Iron Maiden song on the Killers album from 1981.

Thing is, I was rather young when I heard that song for the first time (and yes, that was around 1981-1982 or so), and back then my English wasn't as good as it is now, so what I heard them sing was

"Rat Child"...

And now, thirty years or so later, that pops back in my mind as I'm sitting in front of the CO costume creator. A rat character named Ratchild! Or Wrathchild, as that just looks better in writing.

I'm pretty pleased with the way the character turned out, so I actually planned it out and started playing it - the Bestial Supernatural powerset was a no-brainer choice.

So, without further ado, I present to you Wrathchild, the very picture of a modern urban rat manimal* superhero:

*I was half tempted to spoof Manowar there; "Manimal, born to live forever more, the right to conquer every shore, Man-i-maaaaaal", but that might have been taking the heavy metal references just a step too far :)

I like the look. It definitely says, "Attitude!"

Just in case you ever consider revisiting your character's background, there's a ratlike alien race in the Champions Milky Way called the Tarmin. This is the info about them from the PnP book, Champions Beyond:

"The Tarmin are slightly smaller than Humans and look very much like tailless, bipedal rats. They come from the planet Tarmo, which has 1.2 G gravity; as a result they're slightly stronger, on average, than Humans. They prefer to live near water, and their cities are Venice-like mazes of canals.

Although to Human eyes they're likely to appear sly and malevolent, in truth the Tarmin are usually honorable to a fault and avenge all insults -- especially any derogatory references involving rats."

Yeah, that was what I was aiming at; a modern city rat with a bit of attitude - the Bruce does wonders for that, as does the Irradiate pants and Wrapped bracers :)

Wow, thanks! That looks like a perfect fit for Wrathchild - time to get the old bio creative juices flowing!

A Tarmin in Millenium City... I like it!

The costume is awesome. However I feel that the wrapped bracers do not fit the "city" rat part. They are very tribal IMHO.

Have you tried two different bracers mixing Luchador, City Street Defender and similar costume sets?

Well, I did go through most of them before settling on these; I think they give off as much a "home-made" vibe as a "tribal" one - but I'll give your suggestion a spin in the Tailor as soon as I get off work.

After all, costumes are like paintings; they're never "done" ;)

That's the Urban Diamond Bracelet disguised as a heavy metal studded wristband on the right wrist, and the Urban Bracelet in gold and silver on the left.

Much better, thanks for the tip! :)

Ooh I really like it! The asymmetry really adds to the attitude, and these bracers do look "urban".

 I am happy that the suggestion worked.
