BSN and SB - Bloody Hell! (a Mind-Rupturing idea)

Ok, so if you've used either the Single Blade or Bestial Supernatural powersets, you know they both use, and take advantage of, Bleeds. BSN uses bleeds in more secondary effects, whether exploiting them powers like Venomous Breath to cause Stuns, or having Massacre deal extra damage to Bleeding targets.

Single Blade, however, uses Bleeds in a slightly different way. SB stacks bleeds up, and then uses the power 'Reaper's Embrace', which Ruptures the Bleeds. In other words, the power removes the bleeds from the target, dealing a lump sum of damage per stack of bleed removed (not to mention the damage from the attack itself, which can range up to 2k easily, non-crit). Using Reaper's Embrace can really mean a lot as a coup de gr?ce for dueling, or just great for Single-Target DPS.

Now, what I find a little odd is that although Single Blade and Bestial Supernatural both have Bleeds as a mainstay, the only Rupturing Power in the game is in the Single Blade powerset. Here is my suggestion.

At some point, add a Rupturing power to BSN. Or, at the very least, have a power with an Adv with a Rupture. BSN uses Bleeds, too, so why shouldn't it get a Rupturing Power, too?

Also, give Single Blades, or the Martial Arts Framework as a whole, some powers that exploit Bleeds more. You know, like 'Poisoned Dagger' or 'Exploding Palm' (dunno, like a power that does damage to your Internal Organs or something, and could turn Bleeds into 'Internal Bleeds' which last longer and aren't Rupturable. I mean, I'm just ad libbing here).

Also, while on the topic of Single Blades, why not add an Energy Builder for a Two-Handed Sword animation? For all those people who want to really grip their weapon! I mean, right now, you have them slashing with but one hand, which really doesn't fit some character's concepts.

Well, there you have it. Bleed 'em dry, Millennium City!
It makes sense, if you don't think about it.

I'd prefer it if Bestial Supernatural did not receive some form of rupture. Rupturing is the point of SB, and giving that to Bestial would only make it outshine SB more and make SB less unique. We already have Telekinesis' Ego Leech with Ego Blades and TK Lance, cauterizing Plasma Burns from Laser Sword, and the mechanic with Mind Break from Telepathy. The more we add in like this, the more monotonous things become. Just my opinion.

I do like most of your other suggestions though.

Why would it be a good idea for them to try to make the Supernatural Bestial power set more similar to Single Blade?

Wouldn't it be better to make each power set more distinct, rather than homogenizing them?

Eh, Shred w/ Fury is already better for stacking bleeds than SB's combo as is. I'd be more inclined to agree w/ the others saying just give BSN something different to do w/ the bleeds that's not just direct damage (for SB, I'd like Scything Blade to be made a sphere aoe like EoTS, but that's a lil different). Maybe make their bleeds apply a trauma debuff on feared or poisoned targets or something, or be able to be consumed for an aoe heal and attack speed buff whose power/duration depends on the stacks consumed, etc. Something other than 'explode for massive damage!'.

Yeah, I suppose you guys are right. I was thinking of this as an argument for 'Fairness', but, come to think about it, there's only 6 Single Blade powers. And there's a bunch more BSN powers. So, yeah, let's have SB keep Rupture, since that's about all it's got!

Still, the Two-Handed anim for SB is a good idea. At least, I think so.

Sure, as 0 pt advantages maybe. They'd have to add new anims though. Even the HW power-set seems to 1-hand most of its attacks.. which I find a bit odd.

The problems with making 2-handed animations result from the variations in character skeletons that can be produced in the character creator. Getting the hands to align properly with all the weapons for all characters, etc.

As someone who dabbled in animation, that was the first thing that came to my mind. However, they were able to use two hands to make characters hold rifles and shotguns so...!

As a side note: Bloody Hell sounds like a really cool name for a 2-pt advantage.

As you know, obtaining a static pose with a ranged weapon and keeping hands, arms, and 2-handed weapons aligned through overhead and side-to-side swings are entirely different endeavors. And it is possible to get the alignment of the ranged weapons to look quite odd if you make the arms short/long enough or hands large enough.

Well, just because it's harder doesn't mean its impossible. It COULD be done, if Cryptic put more effort into the game, and had more developers working on such things.

Yeah, these issues always seem easy to solve on the forums, don't they?

Yes... well, that's the problem. Truth is, I wish we, the players, could actually have more influence on Cryptic, and by proxy Perfect World Entertainment, with regards to future development of Champions Online.

I wonder if Cryptic is hiring... I mean, in this job market, why not? In fact, to all of those unemployed Champions Online players looking for work (and, preferably, that live in or around Los Gatos, California) to see if Cryptic could have any use for you! Just by looking at their Corporate Websites' Hiring tab (http://crypticstudios.com/openings) it appears that they're hiring for Character Artists, Concept Artists, Content Designers, Animation & Physics Programmers, and Programmers of all kinds!

So, hey, if you have the skillset, and the means to work for them, why the heck not check 'em out? Hey, maybe you'll even influence some new changes for Champions Online!

That is, of course, you aren't 'forced' to work on Neverwinter, instead...
