So I notice there was a very subtle change in your look with Lightning Reflexes but it does make that "chuh-chuh" sound. And that got me thinking, what about auras that merely make sounds to make your character feel more alive and in concept? Auras that make sounds only when other players get near you.
Here's some example:
General Robot/Power Armor: Makes those "rrrr" noises and some high tech vibrating noises. Bleep bleep bloop noises.
Steampunk Machinery: Sounds of steam and turning gears coming from you.
Police Radio: Sounds of a police radio playing on you as if you have a built in police radio on you.
Living Breathing Giant: Sounds of heart beat, deep breathing coming from you. Good for those with very large bodies and giants.
Eerie, Echoing Horror Sounds: Strange echoing noises coming from you. Good for a horror, slasher type or someone that came from outer space.
Monastery Mumbling: Distinct sounds of mumbling and chanting coming from you. Good for casters and ascetic types.
Growling Monstrous Noises: Sounds of a feral like or Grond like angry beast.
Insane Noises: Distinct clown laughing noises, voices in your head noises. For the insane types.
Zombie Groaning: Sounds of a zombie or Frankenstein like monster.
Leather Squeaking: Mere subtle sounds of leather squeaking. Good for those that wear leather when you walk.
Medieval Plate Armor Clank: Subtle sounds of metal armor shifting when you walk.
Chains: Sounds of chains rattling when you walk.
Cloth Swishing: Maybe you like the sound of your robe swishing. Makes sounds of fabrics swishing as you walk.
Cape Swishing: Sounds of a cape swishing when you walk.
Floating UFO Sound: That woo woo woo sound. Could be considered magic/psychic levitation based too.
Those sound FXes would be looped, or played only at specific actions?
Because if they were looped and permanent it's an awfully bad idea. Just standing close to few characters with these on would be annoying after some time.
We can have other things in the aura slots besides visuals. I love this idea. And the sounds can be subtle. There's no way they can be more annoying than standing next to a player that uses Conviction, BCR, or the like for no reason.
I rather have visual effect Auras with sounds.
Save for buying Aura Slots....
Well a combination of sound and visuals could add in more annoyance when people pile them up. And these sounds could have more flexibility with different looks. Don't want one aura visual mixed up with a sound that you don't want.
And yeah they would be slightly subtle and you have to be close to them to hear them same way all sounds work.

Yeah nothing too annoying. Sounds that you only hear when nobody is fighting and just standing around and even then you have to listen closely.
This also got me thinking. Maybe they can expand the aura slots beyond just doing nothing and combat. You know aura that turns on when you're traveling, aura that turns on when you're low on health. That would be kind of cool.
When Auras first showed up on PTS a couple had sounds and people complained and they were removed. It would be nice to have the option to turn the sounds on and off though.
I would only agree to this if a sound slider was added to the options menu so I could turn them off or make them very quiet.
Agreed, while a neat idea it can get overwhelming if too many different sounds are present at the same time, or if even one in particular didn't sound good to you.

And yet when the auras hit Live, some of them still have sound effects which is just plain annoying to me. Try standing next to five people who each use a permanent aura with sound on it. Grey noise would be preferable over it.
It is a nice suggestion, I guess. But nothing I would personally welcome at all. But then I am someone who quiet enjoys silence.

I play wiht the sound off- no noise problems.
visual fx quality low- no fx problems.

"step away from the aura"
"you are too close, step away from the aura."
apart from that weird thought,
good idea
