Telepath regen tanker - help make stuff fall down

edited December 2013 in Builds and Roles
EDIT: I think I can edit this without kicking it up to the top, so here's the end build.

The goal is to make a regen tanker who is themed to do all its offense with telepathic attacks.
The issue: 20 so far, and worried that my DPS isn't going to be enough to chew through things fast enough to keep aggro. Some of those villains go down annoyingly slowly so far.

Need some input on how I can boost the hurtiness a bit without compromising on the ability to have everything in the room trying to get back at me unsuccessfully while I yell stuff like "you shall not pass!" and stand on bridges while every enemy for miles around tries to beat on me and ignores everything else. I'm sick of hearing my SGmates saying things like "gee, if only we had a tank we might be able to handle this.."

No, I am not interested in ego blades. I did an ego blader once and they were cool, but the ego blade tank doctrine is the mirror opposite of this, and plus it doesn't really fit the character. No, I don't want to telekinetically fling people everywhere. No, the idea of spamming Conviction every few seconds when my Presence is meh, I have an ocean of hp, and I already am regenerating like a fiend seems pretty silly; it seems like it would cut into my ability to beat on things and make it mad at me. No, I am not trying to obsessively lock things down - if i'm beating on it and the beating just happens to do some CC on the side, that's great. No, I do not want to heal my teammates; the same as CC applies. No, I don't care about dueling. Dueling is boring, so I don't care about leet pvp trick x.

Ok this is my Telepathy tank. LR (dodge by mind reading) instead of Regeneration.

So far, Lvl.30, tanking is good, but dps is somewhat low. Since you do not care about debuffing I suggest swapping Ego blast with Mind Break.

Oh and Powerhouse is wrong, Shadow of Doubt has CChallenge not CStrikes.

    Some notes:
You had both Concentration and Inertial Dampening Field, which cannot be used in conjucntion. If you want both for certain situations, replace Rebirth with IDF. IDF does not need to be ranked.

Ego Sprites is pretty mediocre compared to the new dots, would not use. I added in Mental Storm as its damage output is very high.

Ego blast's Mind Opener advantage is crazy for damage output. However, you need to use Telepathic Reverberation for it to function, which is decent enough.

I may have overdone the challenging strike application, but you should have control over mobs.

Wouldn't bother with Mind Break, you'll want to keep the debuffs from the telepathy dots active.

Some of your specs weren't doing anything for your build, moved them around.

Hopefully this can work out for you. Against mobs you'll want to maintain your aoes, against bosses pick and choose what debuff dots you want (Mental Storm is a must) and spam the heck out of ego blast.

    A few things to note:

    - Please be aware that Telepathic Reverberation does NOT work with Shadow of Doubt, Mental Storm or Mental Leech. (This is a long standing bug)

    - Shadow of Doubt is currently bugged as the reduction of damage strength per stack has been unintentionally reduced.

As Kaiserin has already pointed out, Mind Break is only really for purging the debuffs, something which you may not want to do with this build. (You don't use Congress of Selves either so the DoTs will serve more as debuffs than anything else)

Ego Blast will be your primary way of gaining energy via TP Reverberation.

Extra healing can be obtained by stacking Mental Leech's Dependency on targets and being in melee range of them if you need it.

Mental Storm's Stress Debuff x 4 (4 is the cap) = -24% Resistance to Ego Damage to target, this will bump up your Ego Blast MO damage.

I'd suggest starting the fight with Mental Storm full charge (for mobs and bosses) followed by regular taps of SoD and ML and further MS stacks. Proc Disorient on your target (if a boss or tougher mob) and spam Ego Blast to your hearts content.

If you wanted to make Malaise and Mental Weakness have a longer duration (no real advantage to this since they are refreshable anyway >_>") you could go for Manipulator as your form.

For Manipulator you -could- go for INT primary super statted with EGO/CON OR keep Kaiserin's set up (which I believe gives you more defense and basically power) and push INT up a little when you are modding gear as that is what Manipulator scales off.

Without Concentration your damage will drop quite a bit, just a heads up.
And Nimble Mind of Ego surge is super useful.
    Otherwise looks good.

Sure, but Concentration is secondary to what i'm supposed to be doing, ie. not dying. Which power would you take out to fit a second form to run sometimes when solo?

If you're a tank being sturdy is part of your job, maintaining threat is an equally important job. I would go with Concentration, however what you can do is leave IDF/Concentration as one of the last powers you take so you can easily respec out of it. Try both, see how you like them.

Tested at 20. Energy is a problem and there's a lot of juggling of debuffs.

You might want to hold off on a few of the debuffs until later levels, they can be difficult to maintain at the lower levels.

Forgot you were still leveling. I'd definitely drop IDF until you're higher level. IDF does not restore energy, where Concentration will act as a second energy unlock. You could also drop Int for End or Rec until you hit endgame and can solve your energy issues with purple gear.

I've been leveling a similar build (pure offensive though, Quarry is my passive) and he's been fine on energy so far. Although I am using Heirloom gear.
