They may be waiting until the patch with the instant veteran rewards goes live.

Quick, put on a sale before some big expense in my life comes up preventing me from affording the short-term cash required to go LTS!

Actually it's only the possibility of a sale coming soon that's stopping me going LTS right now, so if there won't be a sale in the next several months please at least let me know.

the one for STO is on till about dec 5th and going on their thread, they get sales every few months.
is that game so bad that they have to keep giving cheap LTS to try and attract people?

    we get 1:frown:

Great, now we need a time machine. And it has to be cheap enough that one still saves money with the discount.

But yes I think a LTS sale would be a good idea. Especially now with the vet rewards.

This is like the 10th STO sale since the last Champsions LTS sale .....

We never get any LTS sale and I think that stinks .... You want a great influx of cash, put a LTS sale out for
    Champions.....

I think they are afraid everyone would buy the LTS and they would have no monthly subscribers left .....

Please throw us a bone and have a LTS sale for Champions......

Maybe they just don't care and want people to pay full price for everything, or if not full price, double triple or quadruple price instead.

It would be unwise for them to make any LTS sale for a game which is kept afloat, at a minimum effort, to make money.
People will buy LTS anyway, just as they're buying cosmic keys.

considering they just updated vet reards for LTS, they know a sale would be getting them less money as someone will definitely pay full price.

Check out what's free in STO, and what subbing gets you.

No wonder they have to keep having sales to get LTS in there! One extra character slot. Slightly more storage space. More EC - but the EC limit on Silvers is at some ludicrously high level that I've never even approached, and if you ever do you can buy a bigger "wallet" a la carte. No extra free ships. There's a retcon token of sorts every ten levels there, but there's really no need for it.

Here, you get sixteen slots, free costume packs, massively greater amounts of storage, access to all the ATs and the Freeform system, a free Hideout... it's just an amazing difference. It's up to the individual whether you think it's worth three hundred bucks US, but it's definitely a better bargain than Trekkies get!

LOL! Yeah, that game is "so bad" that they get actual expansions, VOs from actual celebrities, and are about to start a beta for an official mac client. Wow, they are really doing bad arent they?

By that logic, why would any business ever have a sale? The answer is, even if some people would pay full price, far more will buy something on sale, which results in more total revenue. Personally, I am currently spending ZERO money on this game and will NEVER pay the $300 for a LT sub. However, I might actually spend the $200, if Champs had the same sale as STO. So that means Cryptic/PW can get absolutely nothing from me, or they can get $200. Its up to them :)

The STO LTS wishes it could be as cool as the CO LTS.

Applying the STO box code and riding out the month from it gives you a lot of what the LTS gives you. I don't really care to retrain every time a new FotM weapon type comes out so the built up retrains don't really have that much to offer me.

CO's, on the other hand, permanent access to all ATs and FFs, always getting a new character slot at 40, getting at least 8 more slots (16 if you hadn't gone gold at all) offered everything I wanted, and now getting all the vet rewards (the one thing STO's LTS had going for it) is just gravy.

Playing STO a la carte is too cheap to make much of its lackluster LTS. Most of the character services are half the cost of COs. I kinda get guilted into throwing money at it.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I would agree that CO offers more benefits for a subscription. The FF system alone is huge.

But STO has quite decent veteran rewards. You get about 3 ship and 2 char slots, a few respecs, some costume unlocks, a passive 5% xp boost for you and your team, an android bride officer, a free max lvl ship token for a zen ship (but the selection is pretty limited), a unique max lvl ship,...
What does not offer that much is the normal STO subscription. Although it gives you some inventory slots, respecs while lvling, credit cap increase, account bank, 1 char slot,... But in STO you can buy stuff like the credit cap separately (and the free limit of 10mio is not really that much). And you do not miss out on freeforms. So in STO I would say you subscribe probably for max a month. Makes more sense to go either LTS or stay a silver player.

Did i ever say anything at all to suggest they never should? No.

I simply said i don't see it happening when they already made changes to make it an incentive, and could likely get suckers to pay full price.

By your logic. All DLC should instantly be on sale upon release to capitalise on more customers over more money from less. because why create an incentive without also putting it on sale?

Do I sense a reference to The Pixies in that name? :3

Actually, no, it's just that the Obelisk Carrier is freaking huge, and its shape reminds me vaguely of the Everest-class dreadnaughts in Mass Effect, so I named it after one of the biggest mountains in the solar system. Most of that character's ships are named for famous Terran scientists - he also owns the Risian Corvette Mach, the prototype Odyssey-class star cruiser Hans Asperger, and the Nebula-refit advanced science vessel Messier.

I don't think they should put LTS on sale. I think they should reduce the price of LTS to $199.00 permanently. The game is 5 ****ing years old and getting older every day. LTS's for new games are coming in at $199, get your pricing model in line with respect to the game's age, and respect to the market and you might sell one or two of them.

BTW ... Just subbing for 1 month in STO opens almost everything up to LTS standard with the exception of veteran rewards .....
This is written somewhere, in STO if you go gold for a month, you keep a lot of gold privileges when you go back to silver .... This does not happen in Champs.....

    This^

I would jump at a chance to buy an LTS for $199 now that the vet rewards are all included. (STO can seem to sell it at this price point, why not Champs?)

For $300 - - I'll just keep playing for free, thank you!
