Is there any reason to take assault rifle over two gun mojo?

Is there any reason? I would much prefer assault rifle over two gun mojo because the assault rifle sticks to my theme much more (mobster), but assault rifle's damage doesn't reach two gun mojo's damage until the end of the maintain. Two gun mojo, on the other hand, deals more damage right off the bat and deals damage faster plus it adds concentration. Basically the only thing assault rifle has going for it is the theme. Is there a reason to take it over two gun mojo?

Concentration only procs on a full maintain and doesn't add any stacks above one. If you already have Concentration form, then it's meh.

They both tick every .5 seconds, speed of damage is the same. However, TGM has the base defense penetration, combined with a higher base damage output.

Both are useful. But for pure min/max? TGM beats it.

The range of AR makes it a superior boss-killer, IMHO. Works great in Gravitar where you can take up position in the empty fountain, out of range of most of her AoE attacks (not cascades) and immune to her vortex attack where she pulls everyone to her. Against Mega Destroids, you can stay just out of range of their devastating AoE bubbles.

You have to have your energy return set up not to need to use your energy builder for this stategy to work, however. Overdrive with REC or Killer Instinct with EGO both work well in that regard.

This is accurate. I have an Assault Rifle user, and a Two-Gun user. Two-Gun does more damage.

However, unless you are building to squeeze every last point of damage possible out of the build, Assault Rifle is still quite good. If AR matches your theme better, you won't suffer for its use.

Theme and range, as it stands right now tgm will outperform otherwise.

With assault rifle you can smokenade warlord and attack from long range immune to retaliation, not so much with tgm.

    Both would stack concentration.

Step 1: Stop trying to play purely for the best numbers.

Step 2: Realize that this game doesn't require you to optimize.

You can actually do those steps in any order you like, the end result will still be that you'll realize that the reason you use Assault Rifle is because you want your character to use an Assault Rifle.

Prior to TGM being buffed, it was easily the best single-target attack in Munitions. It's still not bad at all, considering.

Best way to use it is either Rank 3 and tap repeatedly, or R2 + Adv and maintain. The latter works better for Concentration, while the former will work if you got decent energy and/or keep far distance from your target.

Its long range means that it mixes very well with other long-range munitions attacks. Namely Sniper Rifle, Smoke Grenade, and Gatling Gun.

These are all great responses! I was thinking that a good strategy might be to incorporate both into my build. Assault rifle for long range and two gun mojo for short range. Anyways, I will probably just replace two gun mojo with assault rifle, considering the feedback.
