Okay so I just realized I have a reason to be excited. Here I've been waiting for them to implement challenging content... but it turns out, it's already in the game! Obviously this must be true because there are people claiming that there is stuff you would get murdered in if you don't have that all important dodge/avoid we all have right now.

But for some reason they're keeping it from us! Greedy jerks.

So come on guys, cut the bull. You have plenty of other threads to make all sorts of claims and comparisons about the dodge changes in. This thread is for you to tell us where that challenging content is that you're so worried is going to be impossible to run on anything but a min/max'd freeform tank after the changes.

If you try to talk instead about the dodge changes here, or you try to talk about why they should or shouldn't implement challenging content, I'll take it to mean that all this challenging content doesn't actually exist and you're just making it up to pretend your claims have something to back them up.

Crossing my fingers that I'm wrong about that! :D

It doesn't take long nor is it hard to figure out and make toons with good build synergy.

If anything, the introduction of the specialization system and modded gear when On Alert hit made it easier to do just that, and could even improve existing builds as compared to pre-On Alert.

Oh, and it was already easy before On Alert.

There is that whole 'fire and ice' rampage down the road. In its current state, it's like nigh unbeatable.

Other than that... Uh, run missions on Elite but only after they make higher difficulties worth playing

I started playing CO this year in may I think. At first I tried a grimoire than a radiant. After that I deleted the grimoire and tried a glacier. None of these chars got higher than lvl 15. Actually none of them really convinced me but I had little trouble in the open world with quests. It was not really a steamroll and I died a few times but not really challenging.
When I started reading the forum and saw the cool builds that are possible I went gold. I read about a few basics (like get a dmg stat, con and an energy stat, take a heal, take active offense/defense, take a form). Since it was a bit overwhelming at first I took a build from the forums as basis and modified it to fit my style.

With the FF everything was a cakewalk.

Also I did not find out that dodge is the way to go until I reached lvl 40. By now I have 7 max lvl chars and I think about 5 low ones. I use 11k q gear and nemesis to level, so no dodge (but I admit I like the def set as secondaries and keep them at max lvl, that probably helps) .
I can't comment much on the archtype experience but they seemed fine in the low levels. A few battles in the comic series might provide problems for an archtype. But I find it hard to imagine that one needs dodge gear for the open world missions. Also a new player will most likely have no idea that he should get dodge in the first place anyway.

So, nothing specific yet... just a "everything all over" response that doesn't tell me anything.

I'm looking for specifics here... something I can go do that will be challenging in some way.

If I asked you to recommend a good place to eat, would you just say "Good food is all over".

Of course, I can see the thread is already derailing as people try to avoid the question... so maybe it was all made up after all.

I've been helping a friend level up a Glacier the last few weeks. Only thing special are the Armadillo secondaries. He's up to lvl 35 now with no appreciable difficulties in general PVE or lower level lairs. Going to try him in Gravitar and some of the higher level lairs soon. Maybe he'll have more trouble there.

I just though about the Hardcore Mode in Diablo2. Played that a long time, and maybe thats why i never can understand that so many MMO Players seem to be happy only if they die at least 10-20 times a day .. else its all "not challenging".

For me the challenge is still not to die at all .. never .. so i simply hate the normal answer MMO devs have for more challenge .. that is something like one-hit-kill mechanism.

Sometimes it seems like people forget that there's games that fall inbetween "cake walk" and "die constantly".

Sometimes it seems like peopel forget that there's a place between "I don't even have to use my heals while pulling the whole map" and "one-hit-kill".

I like how, three pages in, no one vocal against the upcoming dodge changes has chimed in with an example yet. I'm actually curious about this myself, both to see what they're using as a metric (I have suspicions, but confirmation would be nice) and to try some of this supposedly challenging content myself.

It's what everyone does these days... They just play tanks in PvP. The reason I a full glass cannon SR build is so PvP doens't end up with no one able to kill each other.

PvE doesn't really interest me to this point, I have done everything a few times over and I don't really see a point in grinding it as grinding in PvE aint fun, especially when there is no rhyme nor reason to why you are grinding the PvE. This is why I went so deep into PvP.

The funny thing with PvP in CO is that I actually see so many level 40's who I have never seen before and yet when you do PvP or do some duels it's always the same people. Basically the community that ever PvP's is made up of probably just over 30 people.

I do wonder if the PvE community is any bigger though as I never see many of them around.

At any given time that I've playing for the last month or so there have been 4-5 instances of MC showing alone. Total count anywhere from 250-400 people. Even with zero overlap, not accounting for people in other zones or instances and assuming 30 of the PvPers you noted are on at the same time it yields at minimum 220 non-PvPers to 30 PvPers. I'd say you don't need to wonder if the PvE community is any bigger given that wide a spread unless we want to assume that at minimum 190 of those people are only RPing along with 100% of the people in the other zones/instances.

There you go again, forgetting that we already pointed out that we use "those builds" and that we don't find the exact same content to be difficult. You should think about putting more of your time into asking for hints. Not hints on how to build better of course... since the rest of us use "weak" builds and do just fine... but just hints on how not to face plant constantly.

Here's tip #1: If a group of enemies kills you when you rush into the middle of them and spam aoe... stop doing that.

I really don't know what to say. That character you posted and have made a few more changes to since that thread is nigh identical in the earlier levels to the Cynapse build I sent you two days prior to you posting Prodigy's build and I leveled Cynapse through the game without issue.

One possible problem I see with your power order, from the changes you made from Cynpase, is that you chose manipulator to buff holds and then you have only ego sleep up to that point with ego sprites...but also mental leech that you can't use on sleeping targets or they'll wake up unless I'm mistaken. So you're in a situation where until level 26 you can't actually hold anything and hit it with anything significant if you solo and if you're on a team you can forget sleeping anything as most people tend to wake them right up. It'll also take you forever to stack Manipulator with just Ego Sleep so your damage is guaranteed to be in the gutter for a while when running content until you can build it up one sleep at a time.

Also, you're AD Oh **** button is way late in the build for someone having problems. You should generally know from play if a build is going to have "growing pains" as you level it and try to pick up your emergency button MUCH sooner than level 35.

Care to give us specific mission content? Especially since you're more or less the face (heel?) of the anti-dodge change camp. We're still waiting for deliciously difficult dessert.

Personally, I think the difficulty comes from running both AoAC (outside of theme or certain niches, AoPM outclasses it) and CC. Both require a more careful playstyle. But I've got a bunch of lowbies (11-21; one of them is also using AoAC!) and Heirloom gear that I can copy over to PTS and play using your posted build.

Also, a Gradii build without BCR? o.0

back on topic, I'm struggling, really struggling, just to complete some of the mission content with Prodigy. Nemesis heirloom primaries blue secondaries.

this game doesn't need to be harder. if it gets harder we can say goodbye to those builds.

Question : if you have so much trouble with that build, why don't you try something else ?
That build is nothing i would personally go through the trouble of leveling for 25+ hours.
Maybe fine if you ar Kenpo and know tricks to do that in 3,5 hours but do it the normal way
would maybe just only be painfull.

And if you really want such a build for some special reason as level 40, level with an easy build and retcon when you're 40.
