Is there a way to limit flying speed?

Flying, like most travel powers, has three tiers of acceleration (not to be confused with ranks) that you must go through unless you fully charge flight when turning it on.

The first is little faster than floating. Is there a way to maintain just this near-floating, first tier speed? I wanna do that for RP reasons (like how people walk, and I tried that, it doesn't apply to fly.)

Vesperine Cloak has an effect like that, very limited speed almost the same as walking, although you can't leave really leave the ground.

Being in combat drops you to the lowest speed for your travel power. Find a power that you can activate repeatedly that puts you into combat mode, even if there's no enemy nearby, and you can slow yourself down whenever you want. You will speed up 4 seconds later, and hit max speed 6 seconds after that, but you can slow yourself as often as you want.

I just checked, and tapping a non-targeted maintain (like Sparkstorm) will floor your speed, even if there's nothing nearby to hit. With just a tap, there are no Visual FX, and there's a minor arm-wave animation. Any other power I tried either has a very obtrusive animation, has VFX instantly, or both. I didn't try every possible power; you may find one better suited to your needs.

Self heals, Active Offenses and Active Defenses do NOT put you in combat mode.

Only way I can think of to deliberately do it is to use an Xbox gamepad and tilt the analog stick ever so slightly. Though, this might only make you move slowly and not change the flying stance over (i.e. you'll still use the full-tilt flying pose.)

    Hold your Walk key?
Want to get to know me a bit better, Click me and take a read of My Dragon Profile Page, it's a bit dated but still relevant.

I take this quote from a review that I agree with.

"customisation is so linear; everyone is after the optimal dps:survivability ratio with 0 reliance on other players = autonomous gameplay... Players don't need each other anymore... which in my opinion is a bad thing."

I use a game pad and can confirm that you will just be flying really slowly in the full-tilt flying pose.

Yep I use a controller too and movement speed is dependent on how far forward or back you move the left stick.

Which sucks, because upright hovering at low speed would be really nice.

Ya I've wanted that for a while too... the "superman" flying pose doesn't fit all flying characters. It'd be cool if they added a "hoverflight" travel power where you just use the hovering pose, even while travelling at full speed.

Closest you'll be able to get atm is that flying disk thing.

We could get a few extra stances that float instead of walk. All power animations that use the legs would look the same - only walking and running would change animations to a badass hover. Could even have crossed arms, Magneto-style.

/signed the current flight as stance would be really awesome, and the Magneto style too!
