One of the big complaints i keep hearing is how everything is too easy. i'm finally going to call out the elephant in the room....over inflated gear.
Don't believe me? i remember pre-alert all the lairs were for the most part challenging. Heck, ask yourself when was the last time you've seen an enrage timer in therakiel's temple. Do you wonder why?
Next time you do it look at the actual pieces of gear that drop from there. Look at the stats we used to work with and compare them what you can get now. Even unmodded quest blue gear is slightly better than it. I wouldn't say that's an issue but that's the low end of the spectrum. They have different tiers higher than that from mercenary to heroic to legion to the upcoming justice. Traditionally with each tier of gear there should be a form of permanent content to go with it to actually make full use of the gear but the only way you can do that is to pvp.
But nope its just more gear, more gear, more gear but the same content. Of course there is the rotating events which i fully support. But all its been doing is barely maintaining the population but its not going to boost those numbers. At least give us something big and permanent like a lair, adventure pack, comic series or something new to actually use this gear on(some marketing would be nice too, haven't seen an ad in forever).
TL:DR....stop making gear till you have the content to justify it

Judging from some of the PTS notes, they're gearing up (no pun intended) to make Lairs more challenging.
Yet not make any of them rewarding.
They removed all the rare rewards from regular content because they don't want us to play it. There has been nothing added since On Alert to say to the contrary.

Actually the plan was to add new rewards but they weren't going to update the loot tables until the lairs and cosmic content actually provided a proper challenge.
I'd like it if they would try to include one lair into each neighborhood, or about every 10 character levels. And try to time them so each would take about 45 minute to finish. As it is you've already played for days before you get a chance to try one and by then the idea of team play is kind of counter intuitive to the player. And use the On Alert tec to help match up teams.
I know WOW gets a lot of hate around here, but they've done some things right. Give us 3 boss fights each lair with some challenging mobs in between. A box of Q from each boss with a chance of nifty costume unlocks as well.
