he's a Dev not CS, short of pointing it out to them(again) he can't do much
I'm not sure what customer service has to do with this, since I'm guessing compensation to those of us who were affected by the subscription errors would have to come from someplace a bit higher up on the food chain.
That being said a dev could do plenty, for starters they could actually acknowledge this thread, and they could acknowledge that we were told compensation was coming.
I think it's rather obvious by now that this is likely never going to happen.
True, but hey... now we found a thread which has no rules since they steer clear of this. and if athey do do anything about it, they can't deny seeing it then.
So, last week i finally got my Black Chest edition of Assassin's Creed 4, one of the codes was wrong and i contacted their Support team, and guess what? It didn't take a few months for the issue to be still pending, not even half a day and everything was resolved.
Moral of this story? there's isn't one, i'm just saying it's a mystery why this promised compensation was never honoured, someone would say cryptic, even.
Example of what we are to see in account to determine compensation happened? Thanks. I don't play all the time anymore but have life time account from beginning.

Can you rephrase that? I can't understand what you tried to say.
The actual compensation itself was never specified, just that we'd be receiving something. From what we can figure, though, is that we haven't received it yet.

I'm sure if we did, then they'd be quick to respond to this. Clearly they just don't give a damn though
I honestly don't think anything will come of this, I'm sorry to say.
I'm not saying that you should drop it; if you feel strongly about it, by all means, continue.
I don't feel that Cryptic/PWE owes anyone anything for the outage, even though companies traditionally will offer compensation. I do feel that, since they said they were going to offer compensation, they should follow through. I also think that, if they've already done something that they consider compensation, they should have said so at that time.
However, at this point, it looks like they've already moved on and forgotten about that incident.

I know, and i'm mainly here because of the principle of it. To me, they lied, made a promise to ensure people might stay and then sweep it under the rug. I was possibly about to just leave and move on to something else, i thought the promise of compensation was going to be their genuine attempt to try and make things right. After all, that's the meaning of the word. To make right if you or whoever you are affiliated with in this context to offer some means to make up for the inconvenience caused to you.
I simply believe whenever someone makes a promise to provide compensation, the honour it. lest we allow everyone to use such a tacky manoeuvre whenever something goes wrong in any aspect. promise to compensate for anything caused from the event.. and then never bother.
When a company you hire to provide a service fails to deliver upon expectation provided by them, then they should be held accountable.
This is basic business.
Now of course, the best way to show a business the consequences of failing to follow through on an expectation is for you to take your business elsewhere.
If you're reluctant to do that, well...then they have you by the balls.
Why is everyone crying for compensation anyway? If I read correctly the promised compensation would occur after the subscription drop error stopped happening.
Guess what.. it's still happening as of this month.
So.. since they still haven't fixed a massive bug of that nature, then why do you really think the after-fix compensation will be applied yet? xD

Quite simple, as they try to make out it's been fixed.. they then inadvertently shift themselves other to the next expected phase. next phase being the compensation they promised.
I was not aware personally that the first issue was still happening, you do have a very valid point.. however if that issue is STILL occurring then clearly that's just sad that after this long it still has not been able to be completely fixed, and this sort of problem should be higher in the priority list.. i guess they regard nickel and diming you with mock-boxes of a higher priority then simply selling a subscription to gold.
And it is situations like this as to why they must not get away with it because months later it's still causing grief for customers who should not have to be going through this kinda crap.
I just came back and totally missed this event. What happened? I gather from the context that there was some sort of either a) server outage or b) accounts being dropped from subscription status?
I was about to put in a time card I've had laying around, is it safe to do so, or is there still some kind of glitch?

at some point, cryptic put up a deal, everyone can pick up a 3month sub at the price of $30 every 3 months, and as long as they maintain this sub they can keep that price..
about a year later, an issue occurs where lots of people were getting errors with renewing their subscriptions.. and everytime they re-try.. it appears to work for a few days.. then reverts back to silver again etc.. those people who happened to have that special deal, lost it as a result of this error, and it was so frustrating how long it took to do anything about it. they finally decided to offer that deal to everyone again, aswell as new people to take that deal too.. and promised compensation for our frustrations too.
They've never delivered on the promise of compensation, just as there are still reports from people that this issue is still going on, so anyone who had taken that deal again, and lost it directly after is still screwed.
If you have a time card, that should be safe. the underlying problem seems to be transactional, on PW/Cryptic's end, despite how much they like to tell people "it is your bank, take it up with them"
This happened over the summer, there was a player in my supergroup who was locked out of using his gold characters during this, and at one point people were also reporting being charged multiple times when they tried to resubscribe during this issue as well.

Exactly... and for people like me, who use pre paid credit cards.. and especially since i'm in Australia.. so i also get hit for a conversion fee every time.. even if i get the base 30 back.. i'm still missing out on the additional conversion difference plus the conversion fee, and initial transaction fee etc.. and it's weird.. i could pay a certain amount, plus the conversion difference and fee and get refunded exactly the base number amount.
There was another guy complaining about the issue on STO, getting charged $1 multiple times because of the errors.
For me the most frustrating part is the amount of time it took them to acknowledge that there was a problem, and then after that it was silence as normal.
I got to play for a couple months free last summer because of this issue. I'd put my cc number in, the system would accept it for awhile, then the problem would happen and I'd be locked out, put in the cc # again and play for another period of time.

Just don't ever word it like that to them... they might ban you for getting a free ride.. even if your intent was to pay for it legitimately.
skcark: Thanks for the explanation. Seems like time cards are the way to go for multiple reasons.
For anyone who may not know: Amazon typically has 60 day cards for less than ten bucks a month, so better than the deal mentioned in this thread. They've been hovering around $13 for a while now. They're fulfilled by Amazon (the seller is not Amazon, but warehouses them with Amazon, so Amazon's policies apply, including return policy and Prime shipping), so you're also going to get your sales tax on them, but even at my high 9.5% rate, that's still only $14.22, so $7.11 a month.

How would you dispute with them if the card has been used already though? Cause i was always led to believe a number of people have these cards and sell em online.. sure i guess game stores would also do it.. but i always figure they'd use a more official name unlike "blart32094" who is selling them etc.

Report the vendor to Amazon, and get Amazon to refund your money. The cards listed have been sold by the same vendor for as long as I've been ordering them, and I haven't had any issues. They come sealed in DVD style cases. Looks like retail packaging. Amazon also has a feedback system for their sellers similar to eBay's.

What's in a name? Most of these guys are either smaller physical stores offloading stuff online, or people working out of a home-based business. The name could sound awesome and still be someone's home business.
If it's Fulfilled by Amazon, you're protected by Amazon's customer service, not the seller's. That's the main advantage of the FBA program. They make the sellers go through some hoops to be listed, provide the buyers with full Amazon support, and have zero compunctions about canceling someone's seller account for misconduct.
It's still buying online, so you roll your dice and you take your chances. Don't order ten cards at a time the first time out. Get one, and only get it if you can afford to lose fourteen or so bucks.* If it goes well, get another from the same seller. (Make note of the name, b/c although I've been buying from the same guys for a while, anyone can list time cards for sale.)
Also, don't buy from anyone that's not listed as Fulfilled by Amazon. If you do, you're stuck dealing with the seller directly.
edit: *Yes, I know I said you could get Amazon to refund your money, but due to the nature of the product they may not do so. Generally, they're easy to deal with, though.

Well. I kinda think you've gotten their response...
For those of you needing more illustration, it's basically this:
"Champions-Online and Star Trek Online contained hundreds of hours of mediocre content!"
and "nothing was polished".

C'mon Trailturtle, surely you could at least post "we'll look into this" and pretend something's being done.
