Going to make CO videos!

Hey there, fellow Champions! I have been around awhile and I did a few videos voicing things with @LivingDeadJedi and assorted others (if you were with us on the videos, please identify yourselves because I forgot a few of your @names). Honestly, @LivingDeadJedi did 95% of the hard work, editing, making demos, timing the voice overs and so on, but I digress.

Now is the time for new beginnings, and the anniversary is the perfect time! I am going to start making videos of the life of an archetype! I have the choice of 6 ATs to do this with, since I want to use ones I don't have already or couldn't come up with a good concept for till now.

This is where you, the forumites come in! I need help deciding between these 6 ATs and concepts/costumes. I am going to use a male character, so costume ideas/files would be appreciated. I have 20+ costume slots to play with, and none of them have to be related, or even make sense. I have a LOT of costume pieces unlocked too, so unless it's like Voodoo stuff or therakiel's boss pieces or stuff from the lotto boxes, odds are, I have it.

So, without further adieu, here are the ATs available for making this video:

Squall

Disciple

Blade

Void

Grimoire

and Mind

The key this is I will be SOLOING THEIR WHOLE EXISTENCE and not doing any alerts or major dungeons. I will however, do all the Comic Series and Adventure Packs... and hopefully, they won't be bugged (Freaking Demon Key making a beeline for a corner after the fight with Jack Fool...). Another rule I will be following is I will only equip items they pick up via missions or enemy drops. I will be DROPPING anything I can't/won't use and I will not be selling anything either. I will only have the initial bag and the veteran bag to work with.

This will hopefully be as fun to make as coming up with the challenge has been... Also, I'm not sure if this was the right place to put this, but it DOES have to do with Champions since it will literally be a series about playing it. So, discuss

Didn't you do some of the challenge of the podcasts? Some of those were fun. Anyways sounds like a pretty cool endeavor you are undertaking. Hopefully Cryptic will use some of your work as a promotional vehicle.

I think Vizzone did a run through of all the missions to update the wiki, he might have some ideas, or you could just use the wiki yourself if you are gonna do every mission. If memory serves (this was ages ago so again if I have the wrong person in mind I apologize) during one of the podcasts, the topic of Serpent Lantern came up and I learned a ton of Viper lore I had been unaware of and I *think you were the expert doing the commentary.

Last thought, this sonds cool, but daunting. Maybe enlist some help from people also make videos?

You might be referring to Challenge Of The Podcast, I was only on the first 3. I recall it was rather short lived too. The expert on the lore's name eludes me at the moment, but I remember him. He was more or less an encyclopedia of Hero Games lore having played it since it hit shelves back in '84.

I don't intend to do EVERY mission in existence, mainly because I'll be vastly outleveling everything and I don't want it to be too easy. I'll be doing a basic levelling path till I get to 11 or so, then I will run one of the adventure packs, possibly Serpent Lantern first... This is going to be a long serial once I get it started...

Anyhow, I am still in planning phase and haven't picked the AT from the list (hoping people will suggest one) and I want their costume to be costume files people want to toss my way on this thread. I have 20+ slots and most likely more to come, and I want to fill those with people's donated costumes, so all of the people who wish to take mention can have me say their name in the video when I put on their costume.

Feel free to drop what AT you suggest and possibly a costume file.

Thundrax definitely knows the lore -- this sounds like a cool plan, hope it goes well.

My answer's always: whatever you would most find fun. Do you have a favorite archetype in comics or favorite character? Play the one that's most like him. Have you seen someone play with a cool powerset? Ask them what they played and try it? Are you just looking for success? Probably Void, Blade, and Disciple are the most capable ATs on your list, but I'm a Gold player whose opinion on that is largely uninformed.

Anyhow, good luck with this project!

I ended up with a tie between Squall, Disciple and Grimoire.

Ooh, and we get to help pick costumes? Were you thinking male or female? I'll totally whip something up, that's a neat idea.

I will be male, not that I have anything against female, but I figure deciding on one thing will make it easier to come up with ideas...

However, if a female character would be easier for most costume makers to put together, then it's all groovy.

Anyone who would like to give a costume, please do. I don't care how much they vary in size, color or concept. First costume someone places here of whatever gender decides the gender and my initial costume.

Also, I will be doing a trivia question in each episode and first person to get it right and post in the comments of the video will get whatever items/resources I get, other than what I equip, in that video. Obviously, I won't be able to give the bound items, but meh...

Yeah, and I believe the Mind one would be just as painful since at least the Blade can kill faster.

I WILL be running as a Disciple for this since it won the vote. Anyone have any costumes they want me to use? Once I have one, I will be making the video within 24 hours of seeing my first costume.

I believe you also forgot to mention where we can find these videos, either that or I didn't see it mentioned. Will they be on youtube, or is this going to be streamed on a site like twitch ? Also a channel name would help as well.

It's going to be on YouTube, but I have only done a prototype of how my tech works so I could make sure it works before I really record.

Well, I'll update now since your post was the first I saw when I logged onto the forums:

I enjoyed the first video. I'm anxiously looking forward to the next. I always thought that Clayton Griswald was a homage to Clark Griswald from the vacation movies.

I've been playing Champions Online for awhile now (ever since City of Heroes turned off the lights) but still have a lot to learn. Figured your videos might be a good source of info. Showing me some of the locations of those elusive perks.

At any rate, keep up the good work and remember to always have fun.

I've now done 5 episodes and a character creation mini-guide as per request from a couple non-CO players. I'll eventually also do some mini-guides to explain Archetypes for those that either haven't played them or played CO.

I'll still show places for perks and explain how to get them, though it'll mainly be if I am in the area since I am fairly certain that unless I have something to talk about during my travelling, that it will get boring fast. Thank you all for the support and if you've been keeping up with my videos, I am going to release a minimum of one today.

It's funny, I want to limit the length of my videos to about 10-15 minutes, but this game is still so fun for me after 4 years that I got carried away in the last 2 videos and was playing for 20 minutes... lol

In the time since I made this thread, I got the first character through 25 episodes and have done 26 with a different character. The second series is now put on indefinite hiatus since I have to wait for a patch to fix the game so it doesn't cause my entire PC to crash if I play for more than 15 minutes.

I still have all the costumes made by you folks, if you'd like to see me use them in the new series, but before I can do anything else in it, I'm going to have to wait... Why'd it have to be my favorite bloody game!!!???
