I curious about this. People are ranting about eruptions BUT they take a lot of grind to get. If someone puts the effort into getting G to pay the insane prices in havent they put in the hours to legitly use them in PvP.
I mean whats the difference between some random using eruption and some random using aopm and two gun.
I have an eruption too feared to use it

They are all part of the game?

Don't use Masterful Dodge because it's a much better defensive click than Field Surge! Don't use Pheromones! The dinos they spawn hit way harder than any actual pet power. Don't use a Backup! It hits harder than any player power ever could. Don't slot those three pieces of legion gear and all those high ranked mods; the other players might only have heroic gear with rank fives! It wouldn't be fair! Trying to tell a player they are wrong for daring to use the devices they worked to earn is laughable.

There's a lot that's wrong with devices like Eruption, as well as a few others. Primary thing that's wrong with them as that you have to either farm PvE to get them, or spend cash money. Spending money is fine, the real problem is that you can't PvP to get these items, and you'll never be able to since the devs at one point clearly stated that PvP should not be worth farming. This presents pvpers with two choices: (1) pay 2 win, or (2) farm pve. PvPers who just pvp will end up at a disadvantage...that's a problem.
A secondary issue is that the device in question might be powerful but not fit a specific theme, and so it forces players to choose between making a them or making a build; this doesn't bother everyone quite as much.
So far as players actually using these devices, you can't really blame players for doing what they have to to achieve their version of winning. The thing I would worry about is that eventually everyone is going to have a full cycle of Eruptions and then what will pvp be reduced to?
Players who use eruptions can go ahead and keep doing it, but they should be grateful to the players who don't use them because once they're all gone pvp is going to be even more boring than it is now.
Just imagine you're watching a basketball game and one team has a remote control that causes a toilet bowl lid to cover their net for 4 seconds; each member of the team has one and they're all on seperate cooldowns. The other team doesn't have these devices.... still a good game you're watching?

Same stance I took on the crybaby nades back in the day. They get to be too frustrating, I just stop for a bit. PVP community's small enough now that me taking the like 4-5 people I tend to bring in queue with me slows the process down quite a bit, and if dude wants to kill his own fun for the sake of some pretend power that has nothing to do with his build or skill? More power to him. I'm sure someone queued and fought him.

Great thread!
All I can go on is my own perspective after being gone for a year and then coming back to this new environment. From this I've learned that there are basically two group of people in CO PVP now. Players that do not have devices and players that have every device and multiples of the same device, or pay to players. During a fight I try to determine what type of player I am dealing with and then match their level of device use but no more.
Eruptions however is the exception. Constant use of Eruptions will get you ganked in bash, so it's a catch 22.
There is a great video now posted by Mal in these forums that kind of of illustrates a great debate table for this topic and what happens when a community gets fed up with certain players, when defeated or near defeat use eruptions to avoid dying and or come back with their friends to farm you, using them. Aphrodite being one of the biggest abusers of this next to Messiah.
I agree with everything Jewel said in her reply. God mode needs to stay out of pvp, on every level.

If someone decides to be immune to damage forever then Vixy will too. Though that's incredibly boring and no one wants to watch or participate in that kind of a fight.
Overall, damage immunity is a game breaking mechanic. In PVE and in PVP. Its use is not the player's fault, but that of the devs. I can understand from a min/maxer's point of view that some players want to be the best that they can be...and it is the devs fault for providing so few ways to make that happen.

It's important to distinguish the player from their build or the devices they use. There are certain players that Vixy would farm into the ground regardless of what they used or didn't use.
Even if they walked around with no passive while spamming their energy builders Vixy would happily tear them apart.
Then there are players who use every trick in the book to be the absolute best, but are super nice overall and are generally helpful to new people starting out - I aspire to be one of these.
For Vixy it's less about who uses what and more about who they are as people.

The thing that got me into pvp the first time around was partly the challenge, but partly because it was in pvp's hay day, so the community was really chill and inviting. Still are, really, but for a few bad apples. It seems like some of the people who got me involved the first time around are on the case, though.
