Cryptic game client freezing on loading

On both Champions and Never Winter (though I only checked Never Winter once so far) the game client freezes on the Cryptic screen about 1/3 into the loading bar. I checked task manager and it's always at 82,xxx k that it freezes. I've cleared out the cache, .patch and pre-patch/piggs folders, force verified, reset the modem, and tried running in admin directly off the gameclient.exe file.

My question is, what now? Nothing seems to be fixing this and I've changed nothing since playing last night. I haven't switched settings on any other programs, downloaded anything, uploaded anything, deleted anything (other than the aforementioned files while trying to fix this), moved any files or folders, or updated any programs.

Oh, also, no error reports are showing up. It just freezes there. I've let it wait for 15 minutes with no change and it's always at the same spot.

Update; complete PC restart seems to have worked. I'm leaving this here so people with similar issues have a list of possible fixes though.
