You see guys, I reformated my computer last night and since then, Account Guard is asking me for a new One-Time Code because I'm using a ''new'' computer but nooo, it ain't newww, it's my old one but reformated and I probably will never receive that code, considering the discouraging threads on the matter
Soooo, since this is the most read section of the forum, any other veteran encountered that problem and managed to recover his/her account and characters without having to create a new one? :biggrin: I just... I've been playing Champions Online for 3 months now and I always played on my main and I ...I just cannot remake her again. Not after what happened to Jenn on City of Heroes I had been playing since 2005 and I lost years of hard work. If I end up losing 3 more months because of some ridiculous Account Guard bug AND my main AGAIN... I don't know, I'm freaking out right now, please help

I did but with the amount of tickets they must receive about the Telepathy bugs, the billing bugs, the stipend bugs, the gold subscribers being turned to silver, alll the Champions Online bugs ^^ ...it might take some time My moral is good, I'm just hoping there is somebody out there that has a little miracle in his backpocket XD :biggrin: At least, I'm hoping with all my heart...
Cancel out when it asks you for it and proceed to login.
This has worked a time or two for me.
Did you check your email for the code?
You're serious? Oh well, I tried to cancel out a couple times when it asks me for it and proceed to login but it wouldn't work. And I did ckeck on Hotmail but I didn't receive any email by Cryptic or PWE yet... aw well, thanks for all the help fellow caped crusaders :biggrin: ...I really appreciate it
I stopped using Hotmail when it started sending letters from my mother to the junk folder.

loll I checked the spam folder and am starting to wonder if that's not a problem with Hotmail specifically... anyone ever tried to change email adress from the Cryptic Champions Online website and see if they'd receive the email, now? I might try, I don't know ...I don't want to break my account even more ^^;
Make sure you have verified the email is working, have the email window open.
Open the launcher. Login.
Get bothered about one time code.
Go immediately to your email window, refresh, check junk mail and get that code.
Back to the game. Paste in the code.
Play the game.
Hotmail likes to idle out and not accept mail after a while if you aren't actively using it.
I think all Perfect World defaults into the junk folder on hotmail or outlook as its called now.
Even my own domain kind of treats PWE as junk some percent of the time.
Probably the word "Watch" in the message content makes it mad.
You made a ticket with BILLING?
They resolve issues, especially for paying customers.
If you left a bug report, you better get a billing ticket in ASAP.
BTW there must be some local file that triggers the request for the machine to get a code. I wonder what it could be.
Try this. Dig up this file.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cryptic Studios\Champions Online\Live\Localdata\Gameprefs.Pref
It may be in steam/steamapps/common/champions online/live/...something like that.
Either rename that file "oldGameprefs.Pref" or open it and find the the text computerName
Clear the value there.
Maybe the line containing cpuIdentifier should be clear to.
Save and close the file. Have your mail ready.
Restart your launcher. You should get a code request.
I dont really want a code request so I'm not going to test this.

Umm, well... I DID left a bug report ^^ so give me a minute ...all right, I closed my previous ticket, copied & pasted the whole thing and this time, filled a billing ticket Being a gold subscriber for 3 months, I guess I qualify as ''paying customers'' XD Thank you!!
Aaah, that would make perfect sense ...I'm gonna go for a cold shower (it's 106 F where I live :eek:) then I'll see if I received any email andand if nothing happened, well, I'll try to go the route of a new email adress! Thanks again nextnametaken!

I tried your two methods nextnametaken, with the file in the Champions Online folder but sadly it didn't work much more
Furthermore, I still haven't received ANY email from Cryptic OR PWE so I tried something else. I went onto the Champions Online website and tried to disable Game Guard manualy but GUESS WHAT, is it protected BY Game Guard and drags me back to the same circus of emails and blablabla ...it won't work that way either :mad: So they give you the option to disable GG but not really, they don't! And to think I'm on vacation and already wasted over 4 hours of game time because of all this... *wave head*

Yeah, I would look under your account settings, or wherever that lives, because I've never had a problem receiving the code, and I use Yahoo. Yahoo is almost worse than Hotmail, sometimes, with the random Spam filter settings changes.
Part of the problem since December, 2012.

Yup, I have 2 of these emails from donotreply@crypticstudios.com in the Hotmail address I'm using but those are the ones from when I first started playing Thanks anyway

That's fascinating that you should mention that because I DID rename my computer but even going back to the old name didn't work I really thought it would though ...but oh well, I'm waiting for an answer to my Billing ticket... PWE are quite fast, aren't they? :rolleyes: Just lost a full day of game time and I'm a Gold paying customer ...what a great customer service. Thanks anyway!

I also use hotmail, I have not yet had a problem with AG.
I followed a link from my last AG MSG to the FAQ, I am no sure if you have seen these, they probably aren't that helpful anyways, but here are some pertinent ones:

A: Account Guard sends a notification to the email address associated with your account. This email details the time the account was accessed, and the IP address from which the access was attempted.
Q: How do I authorize a computer or browser using Account Guard?
A: When Account Guard notices your account has been accessed from a new location, it will prompt you for a special one-time code. To authorize that location for your account, just submit that code at the prompt. The code will be delivered to the email address associated with your account. For this reason, we ask that you ensure the email address associated with your account is current; you can do so in the "Settings" tab of your "My Account" page on our website.
Q: I received a prompt to enter a code through Account Guard, but I never received an email. Help!
A: Make sure you're checking the email address associated with your account. Also, be sure to check your spam folder. If you still don't receive an email, contact Customer Support. You may also want to add donotreply@crypticstudios.com to your email spam whitelist or address book.
Q: Account Guard references my "computer name" and my "browser name". What are those?
A: Your computer is assigned a name when the operating system is installed - Account Guard automatically fills in this information. If you desire, you can also type a different name for that computer at the time you authorize it.
For browsers, the default is always "My Browser". We recommend typing a more distinct name at the time you authorize it.
Q: How is the "Saved Browser" different from a "Saved Client"?
A: Billing Platform logins check your specific browser; Game client logins check your whole computer.
Q: Can I rename the computer or browser associated with my account?
A: If you de-authorize your computer or browser, and log in again, you can re-name it at the Account Guard prompt.

trailturtle, Hiii :biggrin: Oh great, that guy is in vacation *sigh* ...oh well, today was the third play time day I missed so I should receive an answer soon, I hope I'm on vacation too and I SO couldn't wait for them because I knew I was gonna end up playing day and night but *shrug* ...what a dissapointment, at least I found other things to do, like finally getting the 120 stars in Super Mario Galaxy XD But my biggest concern right now is that my billing day is on the 22th?, I think and if I haven't recovered my account before then... I don't know, I love Champions so much that I wanted to become a Lifetime Subscriber soon but right now I feel I'm paying for no reason because I can't play the game and pfft, I'll wait until friday I guess, don't want to rush any decision, one thing's for sure though ...I WON'T restart a new character, hell nooo! chaelk, Yeah, I've authorized those two email adresses and still no answer from regarded parties. That's okay XD, it been 118 Fahrenheit all day in here and I feel the same XD
