Need help naming my team

Not sure if this is the best forum but wth...

Many of my heroes created in Champions are in fact characters and ideas I've been tossing around in my head for quite a while with the hope of eventually making an actually comicbook. However I'm really struggling to come up with a name for the main team (which would also be the name of the comic) and so I turn to you guys to give me feedback and suggestions. Maybe writting this stuff down and doing some brainstorming will help me settle on something! xD

But first, some basic info on the group itself:

- It's a group that's initially put in place by the american governement but which will eventually take a life of its own while remining in good terms with the authorities, so any word like 'rogue', 'renegade', 'rebel' or 'outcast' in the name wouldn't be really appropriate.

- The members of the team have a wide array of powers and origins (2 are aliens) so the name should be general enough to regroup all of them, so no nation specific names or ability focused names.

- The team operates mainly on Earth, so no space inspired name.

- The goup have the following heroes:

-- Revenant: A thousand years old undead man using shadow/nightmare powers.
-- Magma Core: A demi-god from another planet using fire/heat/magma powers.
-- Werebeast: A half-man/half beast that fights with his claws but which also can change to a more beastial form.
-- Deathwish: A kill-first-ask-question-later rogueish type character. Fights using telekinetic/energy blades and bolts.
-- Sentinel: A man from the future sent here to stop the end of the world. He is the muscles of the group; super strength, speed and healing are his powers.
-- Nova Star: An female alien exiled to Earth. She uses force/telekinesis and shielding powers.
-- "a 7th character still to be named": a brilliant scientist with an alien energy arm. Can generate lightning/energy.

Alright... As for the team name itself:

- one or 2 word names (excluding a preceding 'The')
- nothing thats already existing
- a few names at the top of my head which are good examples of the kind of name I'm looking for...

Team Resolute sounds appealing to me XD
But i vote for The Frontline. The team sounds like a powerful super team with good offence and defense that could take the heat and protect those in need.

I'm gonna recommend you DON'T name your team "Deliverance," at least until after you've watched the movie of the same name. You should know what you're getting into there. :eek:

I know your plight I've tried to think of good encompassing team names before and struggled. Best I came up with was 'The Immortals' which seems a bit arrogant and could put one in mind of 300 and 'The Meta-Men' which I quite liked, but sound a little smaller scale than the JLA.

Vigil of yours sounded pretty good, maybe 'The Vigils'? Something with Force in it perhaps :P

@genuinex015u - Well OF COURSE you would! :P Truth be told I do like the sound of the word Resolute.

@cptmillennium - Oh, I never saw that movie... Guess I'll avoid that one! xD

@diplomacyman - Yeah, finding a unique and cool name is hard... Currently I'm just going through ever single group names on Comic Vine and taking note of words that I like while also having a tab with thesaurus opened and looking for synonyms and such...

@stoopidme - Final Front I actually really like also. It may sound a bit too dire however.

With the first two heroes being a millennia old undead and a demi god, one coming from the future and one being alien I'd say Deliverance sounds nice.

When I first read the thread I was automatically associating songs... "Fire of the Universe" by Xandria and "The Great Commandment" by Carmoflage (I always understand "Commando").

Most heroes seem to have a somewhat dark, threatening name (except for The Sentinel). And they are a kind of Force by the Government. Maybe something that implies Cavalry? Though you got to be careful not to imply they're actually riding anything. Just a few unsorted ideas:

The Last Resort
Trumpets of Hell
The Dark (or Divine) Division (or Knights or Order)
The Dark Stars (playing primarily on Nova)
The Chivalrous Constellation
The Blazing (or Ember) Brothers (or Brethren or Brotherhood - one of them is not a brother, but Nova sure is blazing and so is Magma Core)
Fires (or Flames) of Vengeance (if they are avengers)

The Oblivion (or Ember) Agency (providing the government with the ability to spread oblivion)

You might also use "Knights" as prefix, kinda like the Knights Templars. But you wanna avoid any all too strong implication to any crusaders. Religious fanatics are not popular nowadays.

I just notice both songs I refer to are industrial/darkwave. Not exactly my usually preferred music. I hope an additional "of" in between instead of a "The" as prefix is alright.

Of those ideas I'd like "The Ember Agency" best...

Right now I'm leaning heavily toward Beyonders, but there's a few others that I like also (Final Front, Vigils, Legacy, Heralds, ...) so it's not set in stone yet. I'm still writing some of the characters so I'll probably decide when they'll be more defined.
