When a Maintain power has Accelerated Metabolism, is the chance for energy checked once on power activation, on each tick, or some other amount?

Last I recall it was on power activation, so the first tick of the power. Don't quote me though, I'm probably wrong.

Hrmm...I could go check PTS wise with Plasma Beam and Accelerated Metabolism.

Well, with conflicting answers, I guess that means I'll have to visit the Powerhouse.

AM is a terrible terrible (terrible) pick as it is on any power.

    Why?

It has an internal 15 (10? I think it's 15.) second cooldown between when it can fire off.

Doesn't matter if you have it on 1 power or 5, you still have to wait 15 seconds between its tiny little boosts.

Seriously? I have never seen that mentioned on the tooltip anywhere. You'd think that would be something worth mentioning.

Cryptic doesn't ever consider clarifying such things.

Caveat: If you're using it on a maintain, it has a chance to tick on each tick of the maintain, and the cooldown timer starts at the end of the maintain. That can sometimes stack up to be a pretty substantial energy boost.

Basically how it works is after you proc AM, you go into energy return mode, which gives you that 20% chance for an energy kickback for 15 seconds. So if you're using a tap, for those 15 seconds, every tap can kick you back energy. For a maintain, it'll proc and then start kicking back energy. At the end of the maintain, the 15 seconds of energy return starts, and every tick of the maintain thereafter will give the chance to kick back. Then there's the 15 second cooldown before you can proc it again.

I will add, though, that I last tested this a few months back. So, grain of salt. The maintain timer starting thing mighta been a bug and fixed.

It's situational, but AM isn't actually as bad as people give it credit for. Put it on 3 power armor toggles and fire em all at once, and you have a chance of proccing it twice or even 3 times at once. Nearly infinite energy, that.

That's how it actually works? That sounds reasonably useful then. But I still wouldn't take it short of maybe on a PA character.
