No emotes. Wow.

Not like we were blessed with an overabundance of them in the first place.

But really? SERIOUSLY? THIS breaks your game?

Not that I was really dependent on emotes for my enjoyment of the game. But it's just that last itty bitty tiny little straw on the camel's back.

My sub is up tomorrow. STILL no "hello" from our absent overlords. All the content is in lockboxes, and now this?

I was going to just let my sub lapse tomorrow. But I see no reason to wait now.

As of tonight, I've cancelled my sub.

I guess I'll check back periodically to see if they ever fix things around here. "Never say never" and all that.

But as of now I'm moving on. I'll still be playing Star Trek (free) but that's about it for Cryptic Games. You'll get no more money from me at least for now.

Nope. Not an angry "goodbye" thread and no you can't have my stuff. For one - I'm way past being angry and into the "meh" stage. For another - there's no such thing as a permanent goodbye around here. But I won't be active again for a long while.

I've enjoyed the game since it opened. It was a change of pace for me from COH. I thought of it as the best alternative for my COH Friends after the closure of that game and I tried to help people understand its quirks and get used to its systems. Heck - let's just say it - I BOOSTED this game on faith that after the folding of COH that things would get better here.

Well they haven't. And the friends I brought here have slowly drifted away and I find myself playing less and less.

So if nothing else, it's certainly time for an extended break.

Later folks. Keep fighting the good fight.

This is pretty sound. I don't blame anyone taking an extended or permanent break from Cryptic after this.

Remember how on CoH the devs would state how difficult it was to implement new things because the game code was all sorts of undocumented spaghetti? Yeah, and as we all know, CoH was originally a Cryptic game before it was ceded to NCSoft.

Well, it's clear that Cryptic never learned from its mistakes concerning CoH's undocumented spaghetti code when it started work on this game. See, that's what happens when you don't document your code (especially spaghetti code with all sorts of unnecessary commands and variables), you keep breaking things royally when you add new stuff.

yup, because i am done too

i refuse to continue to play a game where the team has NO clue what they are doing, and i don't plan on ever buying a cryptic product again either.

this info will be passed to friends of mine as well, so they don't buy or play a cryptic product anymore as well.

i just don't have words for this garbage anymore

To be honest, the whole system is flawed and they've been doing things on such a short sighted basis since the start that adding in new tech or updating the existing stuff will often cause a huge issue. Even STO is in a terrible state right now were a lot of important systems just aren't working like they're supposed too, things from the ships Defensive value to doff abilities to weapons Procs to costume pieces. It would seem like quite literally every aspect of the game is broken to some degree or another, and while there are smaller bugs being fixes, there isn't really a whole lot of mention about the bigger bugs.

Even the art assets glaring issues are being ignored there. There are only Two skins that cover the whole body, Trill and Caitian, even the Base human skins end at the neck but are just color blended too well to notice. Two of their bigger races are horrendously bad looking because of this, liberated borg and remans, while the remans and the Jem'Hadar don't even look accurate to their onscreen (canon) appearances. There are way more visual issues there than this but theyre too many to list, that they even had to disable Off duty uniforms for some, and there's no word that i've seen on what's being done to fix issues like this.

Frankly i've been saying it for some time that Cryptic needs to put more Forethought into this stuff as well as plan for more of a long run than a quick cashgrab, and i hate to say it but it looks like it's caught up to them. Granted opening a game or adding a big chunk of content will cause problems, but from what's been going on, this is well beyond just adding new things but the start of a full on break down. We've already seen this with all of the special game events failing and in some cases never working properly. The engine was old and dated at the time of Champions's launch, and it didn't really seem like they did a lot to update it for the other two games, so my question is how much more will they be able to shoe horn in there before it just breaks to bad to fix?

I honestly don't blame any on for walking out of Champions, or Cryptic as a whole really, they've honestly done nothing but earn it with all of the false advertising, lying, overcharging, pushing things live before they were ready, not listening to feedback, not updating, not completing, and frankly it seems not really caring as long as some one was paying. They did it to themselves, and i honestly hope they get their business straightened out before it goes out.

Oh - one last pithy thought.

    "Fatal Error"

Never have I seen a more ironically appropriate title for a game update. Prophetic even.

Not being able to emote is hardly "fatal."

But good luck on your travels!

We'll take over for now. The city should be okay for a little while longer.

Maybe. But in my defense, I didn't bother read the whole thing. :P

Well, good hiatus from Champions Online, I suppose... ^^ In my case, I don't really miss the presence of Emotes but each his own, I guess
