Dont understand the timer on ALERT "dailies"

Like the title says, I dont understand how the timer works for the ALERT "dailies", like APB for instance. If I take this mission today, dont play the game for a couple of days, then play it 2 days from now and complete that mission, shouldnt I be able to take it again right away? But it doesnt seem to work that way. Can anyone explain this to me?

    The mission rotates to a new mission at 5pm Server Time each day. In addition to this, completing it puts it on a 12 hour cooldown. This is in real-time; it continues to count down while you are logged out. You can't take the mission again until the cooldown expires. You can see the cooldown by looking up the mission under the Completed tab on your mission journal (press J to bring it up).

    Every day at 5 pm server time, the server cycles to the next 'day' of missions. New Unity missions go through, and a few dailies reset.

    Concerning the Questionite dailies, if you already have the certain mission beforehand when the server cycles, you won't be able to get a mission that day since you 'already have it'.
