Just finished to put my first character on the Primus Database and am now craving appreciation... erm, I mean kindly asking you for distinguished opinion, of course. I have rewritten the background from earlier versions and had not yet time to re-read it and fix errors, gonna do that first thing tomorrow.

See here for the current version of the character:
http://primusdatabase.com/index.php?title=Marksmaid

A similar page for the original CoH character may be found here, note that I changed some things:
http://union.virtueverse.net/wiki/Marksmaid

If anything that is not particularly interesting and may be cut, or anything that is on the CoH page that you think should be on the CO page as well, let me know. And the same if there is any detail of the description you find horribly lacking.

The next projected changes are spell checking and the remaining costumes.

Characters on Primus DB (and their Nemeses):
Marksmaid | Tenebris (Xalara) | Virtue | Dawnblaze (Sister Nightfall) | Rhinegold: Julie & Magdalena

    I have a problem.

I tried to adjust the page to use not templates, as it is custom on mediawikis, but a CSS sheet. I had no previous experience with CSS3 so it took me a couple of about 20 hours of work to create it, but now it's there. Looks acceptable, though it has some flaws yet. The problem is - getting the CSS into it.

For now I've made screenshots, pasted them together in the GIMP and uploaded all the stuff as image. If I had wanted an image file I'd have created one to start with - that would have been easier than working into CSS3. Now I loose one the key benefits, that it scales automatically to the user's font size, including the image in it. There is also the disadvantage that it can't contain links anymore. Plus, you can't copy and paste from it, let alone the file size (though I think 274kB are acceptable).

    So the question is:
    • Are there sophisticated CSS parsers, which take a file and a sheet, remove the CSS classes and put in style tags instead?
    • If I was to use image files instead, can you copy and paste from SVG files or include links? Can you use fragments of SVG files without style sheet support and make them not just scale, but scale different portions of the image slightly different?

The problem I have with templates is that they are pretty static regarding the content. A dynamic amount of content, contents which are block elements itself, automatic alternation of background colors and treating first and last elements automatically differently seems difficult.

    The files I used:
    http://primusdatabase.com/index.php?title=User:Rabenschwinge/test.css
http://primusdatabase.com/index.php?title=User:Rabenschwinge/test.html (XHTML I used for testing)

Have to say I really like the costume, clean and simple but original enough to stand out thanks to the yellow/white colour scheme.

Thanks. I had a particular woman in mind when I created her and I think the very first fragment of a concept I had was the impression of someone outwardly calm and cultivated but with an impression of fury just beneath the surface, which is about to burst out at any moment. And I think that works quite well, though I am obviously biased and can hardly judge myself. I believe it's in a good part the face and eyes that add a certain sharpness.
