Focus-based Bestial

With some people posting recently asking for tips on Bestial builds, I thought I'd offer up my own. When I started putting her together, the concept I had was toward a supernatural beast. The hero in question is a woman who, thanks to a relic of a lost civilization, can allow a totem spirit to possess her and she becomes a half-feline beast that can draws on the spiritual realm for power. I think I originally tried incorporating more Darkness powers (like for the lunge), but settled on what you see below.

One thing that should stand out is that this is a Focus based build, not Enrage. Hopefully, the reason why should become painfully obvious, especially after I explain her gear.

How it comes together:
The bread and butter of this build is partially in the Dodging, and very much in the Crit Striking. Dodge and her high Con makes her kind of tanky (especially when using DE in a fight), while the Crits build Focus stacks super fast.

As an aside, the Martial Arts "flavor" instead of a primal beast flavor of Enrage or Aspect of Bestial actually suits the character's personality more (both the human and the totem spirit). She has a more Zen-like attitude.

I usually start fights with Venomous Breath. It's great to clear out the trash mobs, drops some debuffs on the enemy, and is a Crit machine.

On tougher foes and bosses (or if I feel like tearing up henchmen instead of being a can of Raid), I'll close in and spam Shred. Goal one of Shred is to get Bleeds going. Goal two of Shred is the advantage Debuff.

Once I have Bleeds ticking, spam Massacre. Tap or Charge.

Devour Essence also shines in combat, especially for getting steady Crits (thus Focus). It also helps you stay alive especially if you have for foe Bleeding (from Shred) or Poisoned (from VB).

Pounce is good to quickly jump in on the boss. Or hop back into a fight when you've been knocked back.

BCR is a second heal, works great when Devouring at the same time. Masterful Dodge is the "oh crap" button. All three together usually saves my bacon anytime.

The two Active Offenses are there to buff damage. And break out of holds, actually I think I use them more for that. Really though, you probably need only one. I usually use Shadow Shroud more than Intensity for thematic reasons.

Hope this all is some good food for thought. :)
