Seen so many Hulk clones

It is funny how there are a lot of hulk clones in CO, he is pretty easy to create with no creativity involved. the creators can get away with it but using a different name like HALK or something

i created a T1000 before which looked exactly like it though i was stupid by calling it T1000, then next day i logged in and the costume was changed to an ugly white clothed man and with a different name

    Actually, no, the cloners can't "get away with it" by using a slightly variant name - not if the toon is clearly Hulk, especially if the bio references Hulk, Bruce Banner, gamma radiation, or any of Hulk's catch-phrases. The toon will be genericed as soon as someone brings it to the GM's attention (there are quite a lot of toons out there, and even if we did have a full GM staff, there's no way they could possibly monitor the entire game).

    If you'd like to reduce the incidence of cloning, please report all the Hulkks, Halks, Hullks, and whatnot to the GM. Same for Supermann, SpiderManX, and all the other clumsily-renamed clones you run across. You'll be doing us all a favor by reducing the chance of some litigious type trying to hit Cryptic with a trademark-infringment suit - again.

    Got Halk yesterday. Had the confirmation response today.

    Stupid is the 2 in PH both cloned the same character.
    "hey, you're XXXX too"
    "I made an exact duplicate but someone went into my acct and wiped it, so I recreated it in red"

    Now THAT is stupid.
    or the Btaman clone, which copied looks, name and background, then when they grt reported and told to chan ge it. They started on zone chat about, I have to change my character, I hope you're happy.

    Strangely enough, they got no sympathy and got told to get on with it then. It's their own fault.

    If you feel like making a copy I suggest you read through section 11 of the TOS.

    MY pair of idiots weren't hulks they were a game character.I just can't remember its name.

    http://www.perfectworld.com/about/terms

    Redhulk I got a few days ago.

    I didn't do the Black cat (not their name), becasue they had actually made a fusion of 2 characters, same with their nemesis.

    Nor Kinetik because he was always playing in character and that was in alerts.
    If they've made an effort to make it different, I leave them alone. Like the hulk type with a long hilariously descriptive name.
    If they are just straight copied,they get reported.

    Hulk clones are an odd beast in CO. Most of them tend to be made by children because its the most easy hero to make. What I found works with dealing with Hulk clones is to nicely PM them and explain the ToS and the sh*t Marvel tried a few years back.
    Most of them are called Halk or Hullk XD so I just say change your guys skin color to purple or blue and something and that will keep you good.
    Most of them happily take the advice.

    Now Deadpools I report on sight :I

    The human torch and Hawkeye/Green Arrow are even easier to do than the Hulk (after all the behemoth is more about to being able to take the damage that smashing thing and its strenght doesn't grow when he is enraged) but most of the infernos and marksmans that I have met in game showed some unique concept of their own and they weren't just clones of the heroes quoted above

    Yes the concept is easier in CO but the costume isnt as easy as Hulk's to make and children love Hulk thats why you see a look more Hulks than Hawkeyes , most 11 year olds are not to sure who the likes of Green Arrow is.

    My advice is still try to explain to them why it isnt allowed. A simple color change is all thats needed to fix Hulk clones. Raging at 12 year olds will not solve this issue.

    I see more Hawkeye clones these days than hulk clones. The names are things like

    * Hawk
    * Hawkeyes
    * Hawk's Eye
    * Hawking
    * Sharp Eye
    * Arrow Hawk
    * Bow Hawk
    * Hawk Arrow

    They usually use the costume from The Avengers movie, but sometimes the purple-blue traditional costume shows up, too.

    I use to always duel every Hulk clone I saw.

    I figured that sending them flying 500+ feet with one punch would make them not want to play the Hulk clone again.

    Seemed more efficient than reporting them.

    A Red Hulk like creature is most likely a no-no as General Ross uses a gizmo to turn into a villain called Red Hulk these days .

    Some time I think Marvel doesnt even try :I

    Make him blue.
    Give him a facial hair and a slightly different costume - like tights pants instead of ripped shorts.
    Give him a different name and background.
    As close as you can get to the original but now it's a homage.

    I have seen:

    Hulk
    Deadpool
    Captain America
    Hawkeye
    Storm
    Colossus
    Wolverine
    Jean Grey/Phoenix
    Emma Frost
    Ghost Rider
    The Thing/Ben Grim
    Spiderman

    Superman
    Batman
    Green Arrow
    Booster Gold
    Captain Atom
    Atom Smasher
    The Shadow
    Flash
    Green Lantern

    Maul (From Wild Cats)

    Sometimes I even recognize the same global behind some of the clones.

    I also report on sight... but will try to follow Nepht's strategy of patiently explaining the issue... if that fails, then I'll report...

    That always gets to me as well.

    Their character name in no way affects me...but I just will never understand naming your character like that in a game where you can basically have any name you want.

    Though the name of my character is a big deal for me.

    In CoH...I had to create my first and only alt on a different server just because I needed the name to be spelled correctly.

    heres list found on another thread, restricted names

    http://championsonline.wikia.com/wiki/Character_Name_Restricted_List

    Its not the clones, its the ones who think they are being original. Like when you see spidermannwith 3 different handles on one day.

    I've seen most of the new mutants, xmen in original costumes plus the newer costumes.
    yes I collected xmen comics from 140 onwards. When Kitty Pryde fell through the wall of the hellfire club.
    also xfactor,xforce, new mutants(I still have that set), excalibur, mystech wars- good if slightly weird miniseries.a whole pile of the what ifs

    Black cat is quite popular and easy to make the costume.
    Pheonix (jean Grey)in the various blue/yellow,yellow/red, red costumes.Haven't seen young pjeonix(Rachel summers ) yet
    Emma frost -the white queen -in various name versions.
    Tessa Holland- the black queen
    havent seen sebastian shaw yet, or mastermind but considering what he looked like, thats not really surprising.
    Some of xfactor, a few of the Kn ights of pendragon.
    I've lost count of how many Betsy braddock(Psylocke) when she is merged with Kwannon.

    Then we have Kurt Wagner, Nightcrawler, kurt crawler, curt wagner(wonder if that guy knows what curt means)etc. 4 in the PH at the same time... sheesh

    Then we get the other clones- Kevin Poe, Psimon, Defender,Wichcraft, Talisman.
    At least the guy with Kinetik always plays his in character. I count his as a homage.

    No, you're not being a douche, you're protecting this game. There's some question in my mind, if another trademark lawsuit were brought against CO, whether Cryptic World would defend, or just shut the game down to appease the plaintiff (who, given the most common clones, would probably be Disney/Marvel - talk about deep pockets!).

    It's under the menu where you report a problem to the GMs. You're basically filing a ticket to notify them of a trademark violation. They make the final judgment, so don't sweat it if the name is merely "close" - especially if appearance and bio match. (That's sometimes called the "Rule of Three" - appearance, bio, and name; two out of three being unacceptably close constitutes cloning.)

    I did a Japanese Hulk named Hulku, who says Hulk-like sentences in haiku.

    I've also done Super-Batman, a WW1-era batman (ie. a British officer's aid) who was projected forward in time and received super powers.

    Man, now I want to make a guy with sn open trenchcoat over skin colored tights, and call him "The Flash". Is it possible to get the COPAT camo on briefs, but leave the legs solid colored...?

    Seen one already. Walked right up to the group I was RPing with and opened his trench coat saying "Anyone want to buy a Twizzler?!?" I never seen so many people run off that fast in my life.

    Handle: @drgmstr

    Miss Behavin started as an homage to Ms. Fortune from Skullgirls... I just kinda took the misfortune angle and ran with it a bit until I got what I have now. Now she's more like a catgirl version of Akuma from Street Fighter.

    My latest toon is Professor Pummel, an homage to the adult version of Dexter (from Dexter's Laboratory) in the movie, Ego Trip.

    I had a Captain America clone once, who eventually evolved into his own character and costume, amusingly taking more inspiration from the webcomic Hero By Night.
    I ought to remake him: my alt-itis deleted him once.

    Personally, I have a handwave for the clones in RP terms. Crossovers. They're common enough in comics that we can imagine the Champions Online universe to be some kind of hub world, with many connections to comic book universes that inspired powers in the tabletop game, and thus the MMO, in our world.
    So, occasionally, a hero from a variant of a non-Champions comic book universe will sometimes leak into the Champions Universe, lost and disoriented. The Hulk's the most common because of his nigh-limitless power: get him sufficiently angry and cross dimensional transfer can occur.
    By reporting them as a clone, we are actually tracing their dimension of origin via an agency that can do that and making contact with their reality, asking for them to clean up their mess.

    Also, the crossovers have lead to some new meta humans native to the Champions universe modelling themselves after the extra dimensional visitors. In these cases, our agency that deals with clones will send an experienced superhero out there to explain situations where taking on another's identity can cause problems, such as mis-assumed powers in a crisis scenario leading law enforcement to be unable to accurately control an area, like assuming a hero has super strength and can fly when in reality they're a Superman cosplayer in the wrong place at the wrong time.
