Why not take the opportunity to add a costume set with...
1. A trident weapon skin for heavy weapons.
2. A few shield bracer pieces, (round, kite, and tower).
*** Now this is very important - these bracers should be lined up so they are in the right orientation when you raise your hand as part of the default block and retaliation.
3. A spear weapon skin for heavy weapon.
4. A jevelin skin for single & dual blades.
5. A Lorica Segmentata chest piece.
6. A trident hand.
7. A version of bolas that uses the ninja net animation instead.
8. A new travel power - let's call it 'Lion's Speed', which is basically between acrobatics and super speed, in terms of performance - faster than acro but with less vertical movement.
9. A single-shoulder cape.
10. A selection of wooden "training" weapons.

By simply removing the blade from the Heavy Gladiator Sword, a conveniently Single/Dual Blade sized mace would be created. The character would just need to hold it closer by the end of the shaft.
For a new Heavy Weapon, simply replace the blade (which came originally from the blade hand costume piece, after all) with the spiked ball from the mace hand.
The head of that mace as it is looks a bit too small to be a proper mace in ratio to the handle (I'm not sure if there's rules that define it being a mace, but generally aren't they wider than the handle?)... But from that image, if we smoothed the end so the spikes weren't there, you have a surprisingly decent magic scepter design going on, especially if runic engravings can be on the blobby golden bit.
Other tan that, I agree with all on this thread, but what's Lorica Segmentata?
Also, a Roman Attic or the Galea type helmet to go with the segmentata, because helmet from the Spartan set doesn't cut it for Roman looking characters.

Also, here's another idea I posted recently:
