so, the facebook page, and who I gotta kill to not be banned anymore...

I was banned from the facebook page for saying one of the powersets they were advertising reminded me of this video. I have only posted twice on it, so I'm sure this is what caused it, because I was blocked just after I said so. I have 2 questions.

1: does this offend anyone?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cXDgFwE13g

2: who do I have to bribe to maybe get my access to the page back? I've requested it from the turtle, and it didn't work. I wanna share stuff with my friends, but I won't do that if I can't even comment on the freaking topics. Help?
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.

    Ah...this Skrillex video...

Well it does involve a sex offender and a would-be victim kid, just that the kid manages to defend herself with some double-U tee eff powers so there's at least a moral ending involved.

The game has a teen rating after all so I'm guessing that the dark subject matter is a little too much.

Or it could be that the song is just God-awful bad. Although my dear and good freind Taco, it did fit :)

    1) No, the video itself did not offend. The attempt at music for it did, however.

    2) I have no clue. However, if you simply -must- give someone money....I do have a paypal account. :)

Heh--the video is quite cool. I wish more children could fight off attackers using supernatural powers.

    The song . . . meh.

Pretty sure I wouldn't have banned someone for posting a Skrillex video, considering I'm a dub fan myself. If you PM me your name on Facebook, I can review it, but no promises.

I got banned from the official Star Trek facebook page after Zac Quinto came out of the closet for calling all the gay bashers to the carpet for their verbal abuse.

Trailturtle, are we allowed to openly criticize certain aspects of Champions online via the Facebook page? As in 'the vehicles are getting too much focus' or something to that affect?

I would think so, plenty of people have.

While it could be interpreted that the man in the video has some ill intent towards the girl that he appears to be following, there is no actual sexual assault depicted.

There is a man who would probably be considered unattractive by current male standards of attractiveness, holding a piece of candy, in the presence of children, wearing a trenchcoat. He then happens to walk in the same direction that one of the children is walking in. The child then freaks out and assaults the man with telekenetic powers.

I think this video is less a depiction of a girl "heroicly" fighting back against a would be rapist, and more a comment on how men frequently become wrongfully accused of intent to sexually assault. The "telekenetic powers" are meant to symbolize how the confused accusations of a child, or their family, can "turn your life upside down" when you are the male who is being targeted by those accusations. Anyone who has been accused of such a thing and has had to spend the rest of their life dealing with suspicious glances and people talking behind their back, even after being proved innocent of any wrongdoing, will tell you the power that such accusations have to screw up your life.

You will notice that they chose the actor for that part very carefully so that he would have the appearance that people expect a child molestor to have; the male pattern baldness with a combover, a non-masculine jawline, glasses, trenchcoat, holding a piece of candy etc... He's exactly the type of man that you see and think "don't let him near your kids", because that's how you've been programmed to think by a combination of social and media influences. In fact, if that is that actor's regular appearance, and they didn't "pedo him up" for the video shoot, I'm sure he has to deal with that in his daily life.

Social commentary is really no reason to ban someone from a facebook page.

This is the most likely reason. Its seems a bit harsh to ban someone over a vid that shows a kid beating up a bad guy , its what heroes do :I

I imagine that the people reporting the link didn't actually watch all the way through - probably cut out of it either when the man was going down the stairs, or when he was pouring chloroform onto the rag. Pity, they missed the good bit.

Or maybe they didn't like the fact that the little girl was summoning a demon, no matter how well-deserved such a fate was... (I particularly liked that very last shot, with the hashmarks.)

The alleged music? Eh, I've heard numbers stations, and regularly read the SCP Foundation - no big deal. (Especially when the two are combined, as in the audio file for SCP-270, the Secluded Telephone.)

The video leads you to believe that it is chloroform, but it never states that it is; there's no label. Sure, you say "well what else would he be pouring onto a cloth?"; at which point you have to stop and consider that there are in fact many reasons to pour something onto a cloth, but you didn't consider those because you're trying to play along with the assumptions that are in play.

Of note is that chloroform is a clear liquid, while the liquid in the video is green. While you spend time rationalizing why the guy colored his chloroform green, I'll be thinking up what other substances it could be that are in no way related to kidnapping children.

Smoochan, you didn't mention one important part of the video that just adds to the impression that the man is an offender: Look at the short dream sequence where he's surrounded by dolls, and he looks delighted. Just what does that imply? The man likes dolls? He likes collecting them? I think it's deeper than that concerning the context of the video involving the little girl. It was to describe the man's psychology. I was lead to believe that the man has a view on little girls that objectifies them in a very immoral way.

I guess the video could be intepreted that the man was falsely labelled as something he is not, and that the girl was setting a trap for him, but there's very little visually to suggest to me that it's the case.

That's the genius of the video. There are in fact grown adult men who collect dolls and obsess over them, but your mind doesn't go to that possibility because most people don't question the scenario, they accept it for what it is and would happily treat the individual within it as a proven child rapist, even though there's no actual evidence to prove it. By the end of the video you feel like you've been provided with overwhelming evidence that the guy in it was in fact so... when actually, every bit of evidence you've been given is only evidence of that if you interpret it that way.

You can tell that there's something off with the whole thing because of how stereotypical everything contained within it is. You can tell how well you've been programmed to think about these stereotypes by just how badly you want the guy in the video to be a child molester, and how quickly you reject any other possibiity; or, of course, if you never considered any other possibility to begin with.

    ART! :D

... I'm actually kinda fascinated with what this turned into. I hadn't thought of it from that perspective, but mostly because it's attributing skrillex with a bit more subtlety than you'd expect from a dubstep/dj, ex screamo singer.

I'll pm you my name, turtle. I'd be glad to have this fixed, since I'm usually all kinds of supportive of the game in public. I just feel dumb linking people to a page I can't actually communicate on.

Was it his dream though or the "little girls" after all the deamon was in there with him perhaps it was more a glimpse at the girls collection I mean maybe its just my thought process but my brain went down the "its a collection of her previous victims represented/turned into dolls" rather than him going to a happy place.

I guess the video could be intepreted that the man was falsely labelled as something he is not, and that the girl was setting a trap for him, but there's very little visually to suggest to me that it's the case.

To me he was what first impressions suggested but she was not clearly she created a trap a loured him in he didn't trap her in that basement she went down there willingly then waited for him its like one of those angler fish dangling something the prey wants out to draw them in and then pouncing.

Theres also the fact that there was all ready potentially 74 tally marks on the pillar that would make the guy number 75 probably all attacked/killed in the same place so thats one huge chunk of premeditation right there

Not Slendy precisely. Possibly a first cousin, though.
