Tired of being Lv 40 with a sub-100 Arms skill I started hunting skill objects. I was surprised that there were no skill object maps to be found (or that my google failed me) so I started mapping all the Arms objects I found along my travels. I started by just drawing dots on a map in photoshop but that got tedious trying to compare the two maps against each other so I figured out how to plot the points onto a map in excel
I've mostly explored Canada and the Desert, and these maps are in no way exhaustive, but they will get you to 200 skill.

If you would like to make your own map here's how:
I'm using Excel 2002, I assume the newer versions will produce the same results.
- Plot your points on an XY scatter chart
- Format Plot Area and use a CO map as the background. Maps can be found on the CO-wiki
- Set the X and Y axis scales to the extremes of the map
These are the points for Canada:
Note: The Canada map on the wiki chops off the east and west edges so you'll need to use
this map
Z elevation numbers are included; note that they are in between the X and Y co-ordinates so be careful not to plot XZ.

To add your own finds, once you find a skill object type
/loc and you'll get three numbers separated by spaces, its important to note that CO's format is X Z Y. Then you just copy and paste into excel. You will have to use the Data > text to columns... wizard (or the equivalent in that little clipboard symbol that shows up after you paste) to tell excel that the data is space delimited. But once you do it a few times Excel catches on and will paste your data in the right cells.
If you do make your own map please share your data on this thread, it would be great if we could finally have maps for all the skill objects for every map.

Useful commands:
- /Loc - Displays your current location in the chat window (XZY)
- /ShowCamPos - Shows your camera position in real time in the upper right hand corner
- /NavToPosition X Z Y - Moves your character to the co-ordinates barring any obstructions

And some Millennium city maps (no where near exhaustive) - right click view image for a larger view:
First, here is the cropped Millennium city map mentioned in the first post that matches the extremes. And since there are no skill objects in Westside anymore (or none that I've seen since on alert) here's a map that you can use if you make your west extreme 3431. Red triangles are tier 1, yellow squares are tier 2.
And an updated Canada arms map that will get you to 300 skill:
Tier 1 - Red diamonds
Tier 2 - Squares
Tier 3 - Triangles
Also, does this thread need a sticky?

Yes. They are sci objects.
So what do you think of the map format I've been using? Basically every place on the map with a character location triangle is an object location.

Zed B finally remembers to check back three months later... Can't even begin to guess what distracted me from this. I had PC problems, but that was last month not three months ago.
The concept of the triangle pointing toward the object is fine. You can always create a thread and post what you already have and ask for help with any of the objects you have not gathered. Kind of the way I asked for help when we were all looking for Foxbats during the FB Con, only, this would not be time sensitive.
Anyways, yes, it would be nice to get screenshots of any node points that haven't been charted yet. I've been using screenshots of the map zoomed in as far as it goes. Then pasting them together. Screenshots from other players would have to be taken at the same resolution to be useable in that manner, but even if they aren't, I could use them to find the point myself and chart it.
I have been using the green triangles since it's not something I place on the map. I try to edit the map data as little as possible.
How many maps are there to scour for nodes? so far I've focused primarily on Millennium City. Mainly because I started there. But I've also done some work charting nodes in Canada, the Desert, and Vibora Bay. I've not been to Monster Island but I've heard it has node points too.
Oh and here's V4 of my Millenium City Arms map: http://marhawkman.deviantart.com/art/MCarmschart4-480427751

Dun dun DUNNNHHH!!!
I stuck the latest versions of the files on the new wiki.
BTW, if you thought my previously released work looked ragged and incomplete.... hehe, check out the science chart. Nodes scattered all over the city... And if you compare it to the chart posted earlier by stearc, the two are almost totally different. For best results you should use both charts.

Here's one that may have been taken/absent any of the times you went on a Arms Hunt.

The cap is probably not the size you need, but at least you will know where to look.
I think what I need most is data on the non-arms points. Arms is Tsin'xing's current specialty so she can find those much easier than Mysticism or science.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
My characters
There are some behind low walls. This is actually a cap of you own map, hence the MS Paint arrows I added and the absences of the Arms boxes.
Also, as a Flier, I sometimes spot Skill Objects on ledges or roof tops. I'll need to pay more attention and get grabs for you.
As far as the Mysticism or Science, I know what you mean. I have one of each, but there are currently unavailable to me until the next time I Go Gold. Might be a while.
One realization I've come to about this is that SOME skill objects are actually visible on the map if you zoom in close enough. The arms crates in MC are sometimes distinguishable. The green skeletons in the Desert as well. But they're the exception.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
My characters
I actually managed to find a mysticism and a science point in what I call the "still zone" a deserted section of map in the north east that has no NPCs at all and no sound effects associated with it. One of the points found is literally only a few feet from the invisiwall at the edge of the map. They're probably tier 2. But I'm not sure.
Actually I just realized Zed's map is a great example of what I said about how some skill objects are visible on the map. You can see grey specks on the side walk at the locations his arrows point to. The trick is distinguishing them from background clutter....
QUESTION: while looking around the northern part of Downtown, I noticed several red crates with a cross on them. Are those quest objects or science nodes?
Data from all maps with skill objects will be useful eventually. So feel free to give me bits of data from anywhere and everywhere.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
My characters
Oh and if you want to collect tier 2 science nodes just go to the Lemurian invasion zone in MC.... I think I found a dozen in that area. Most are on ledges, but there's a LOT of them. It has several arms and Mystic nodes too.
And I just realized that all the mapping I did today was in a different resolution than my previous work. *grumble mutter* I stretched the map window to try to catch more data with each screen shot, but.... it seems there's some sort of code that adjusts the resolution of the map to the size of the window. I can probably work with it but it's annoying.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
My characters
1: to use the maps I made with the size set wrong I have to shrink them to ~63.5% of their size. It makes it look off, especially since the mop icons get shrunk too, but I can paste it together with what I already had.
2: for future mapping I need to set the map size more precisely than my current approach of zooming in as close as I can. I haven't tried it yet, but it should work. I have to get it just right, but it's workable.

It's an odd duck, that one. I swear I only find it once every fifth time I pass through the park. It's one of the square box one, but it's the green one and not the silver ones.

You might want some good pics of these object for your own area on the new wiki. I'll try and grab some as I go around the different maps. Either way this should aid you in your search for non-Arms objects. And Mystic objects needs some filling out. There can't be just two objects. I remember these rune covered, gray obelisks in Canada, for one, And a small pile with a skull and a book as part of one type mystic object scattered about the city. I wish I had access to my mystic and science heroes.
Once the Anni is over, I try to remember to go to MI and get you caps of the upper level objects scatter on the eastern side of the island.
btw - You're doing a great job. You found objects I either never knew about and some I just plain forgot about.
But I'm not sure why.
Want to hear a secret? I know you do... I already archived those. :P Some day I should make a gallery for them.
another example of a mysticism object is a warded crate. It looks like some of the arms crates, but with weird runes on it... actually... weird runes are the signature aspect of mystic objects. I can't think of a single one without them. The Skull on book points? look closely at the skull... RUNES! The irradiated skeletons? Looks closely at the skull... more runes! Obelisks? (both kinds) RUNES! The cow-skull object on that archived page? MOAR RUNES!
Science... tends to look like bits of junk. Box of robot parts? lol wut? I didn't realize what they were the first time. <_< >_> Box of beakers? looks like garbage... Backpacks? barely noticeable.... It didn't occur to me that backpacks were a skill object until I saw one with a Viper logo. Even then I wasn't sure if it was a skill object or a mission object.
Arms are relatively easy to spot. Weapon crates stick out on most maps.... most. Some indoor maps have random boxes that look like them.
I'm actually thinking about switching classes. Tsin'xing studied mysticism at one time, and for her to advance further in arms she needs to get to level 35.... but she's 29. I've gotten a LOT of xp from the bonus weekend, but I'm going to hit 200 arms long before then. Soo... I'm possibly going to try science. I need to fill in gaps on the science map anyways, so why not? With this map I have I should be able to hit 200 in science relatively soon.

Yes its really ridiculous, level 11 missions have level 100 skill objects.
I am almost certain 1 is also a yes, but it's been a while.
2 and 3 are definitely yes and yes. Your description of - It looks like 3 sticks with a glowy white/purple gem on top. (sometimes blue) - threw me because i only remember seeing them as white. { shrug } Could be my PC.
Have you been able to find the Arms crate that's is entirely hidden in the snow? It is very near the road south-east of the Stroessen Peak. If not, I'll have Zed go stand on it and post a cap showing the land marks near by.
Oh and it's not a Qularr ship but Gadroon... >_>' I was tired...
I think the gems ARE white, but get shaded by the environmental lighting. I usually see them as purple, but not always.
