Trauma

Simple idea for how to alter Trauma, along with adding in a new effect to make the landscape of effects a bit more interesting.

1) Change Trauma, so that instead of a heal debuff ( calm down, wait until you've read #2 ), it is a health debuff. What it would do is lower the maximum hp pool of the target by X%; in the case of high-ranked npcs, this would instead become a damage resistance debuff.

2) Implement a new effect called "Suppression". This effect would do what Trauma did, reducing all heals by 50%. The difference is that this effect would only be available on some maintained powers, and the effect would only remain active while the effect is maintained, plus a few seconds if the power is fully maintained. The maintained powers that this would be attached to would preferably be certain underperforming/rarely used powers. In addition, there would be a damage resistence debuff applied by the power, that is removed if the target takes any form of healing.

Currently, trauma is, for some reason, attached to powers that have very high damage potential. This creates the sort of "bundle" that is at the root of this game's problems. With Suppression, the heal debuff would no longer be a "fire and forget" effect that you toss in between your main high damage powers... or something that just happens to be a package deal with your high damage powers.

The new Trauma effect would not only remove the heal debuff from high damage powers where it doesn't really belong to begin with, and would give those powers a replacement effect that is useful for burst damage type characters; if your target has less total hit points, bursting them to death becomes easier.

Also, unlike current Trauma, Suppression would be functional even when used on a target that doesn't heal itself.

Submitted for the viewing pleasure of any developer that might actually be grazing the suggestions forum for ideas.

As far as i know, the only powers that natually comes with this effect are ebon ruin and pestalance. all other powers require you to use some of your advantage points and that reduces the damage potential of the powers: and TBH ebon ruin truama should be an advantage also
