These reviews are all coming from people who have played the game for three years or more. They all have several 40s most of which leveled to 40 way before alerts or adventure packs. The content as a whole in all zones gets quite repetitive after you first few 40's add doing this content for years and yes its played out.

Veterans have no way to judge the game. Only part time players with no past experience can judge Champions Online..

How does crowd control work again? Hmm.. How does Stealth work again? How do stats work?

How do you beat Supervillain Y? Will you level me in alerts? Can I borrow Gold?

Who is Dr. Destroyer? What is Project Mind Game? How do you beat Grond?

Inexperienced Players are the best judges of the game so stop complaining and play more alerts.

So being somewhat of a newbie/CoX refugee, but having played champions at launch, I have to say I agree 110% with the initial set of review comments. Compared to other MMOs, and having been here actively since November of last year, the dearth of content from my view is an issue. I have (4) level 40s now and is mainly because once I get to 40, with these awesomely-powered, intricately costumed characters, there really is nothing to do. I've gone through the adventured packs with each of them, alerts, general mission content, etc and there just isn't much to keep your interest after awhile.

To be honest, I went Gold because I wanted to try full access again, and really only due to the ability to create FreeForm characters am I still a paid subscriber much less an active one. But in the next few months, even with that draw, i will probably move to another game. For me, even though CoX was dated in terms of graphics, gameplay style (I much prefer the more active style here in CO), it was the continual content updates that kept me around for 8+ years. To be able to explore new zones, intricacies in them, that they in general, appeared different (though tbh quite a few of the older zones seemed like clones reskinned with different colors), and the eventual inclusion of end-game content.

Another really big piece was the user generated content ability with Mission Architect. Here, I've seen this continual focus on NWO, and STO Foundry and absolutely nothing (even watched Cryptic video about UCG) for CO. So while CoX's MA allowed me to create stories and play so many by others (yes, some were farming ones similar to Alerts here but there were also so many absolutely creative and fun missions), i find no outlet nor any interest in doing so here in CO. So if there will just be minor content updates and no way for users to generate their own, the replay ability again, of this game is in question.

And its sad because this game has so much potential, its customization is unrivaled by any competitor, its ability to create free form characters is in this genre is unique, it has a passionate and devoted community, and yet it just seems to be treated as a stepchild. After awhile, even for someone looking for a new long term home with the demise of CoX, the message becomes clear and you are forced to move on; too bad for a game with so much potential.

    (sorry for the long post..)

Heck...ppl barely do content on their first character anymore because Alert XP is too much to pass up at any time.

Actually...I'm doing alerts personally because in my opinion, the other content sucks.

Four times through Westside opening arcs was quite enough for me.

Serpent Lantern is alright, but...I can only do that so many times, too.
Whiteout is broken for me, as I can never seem to beat the boss that splits into four seperate enemies.
Can't seem to beat that demonflame one, too. Boss keeps spitting out impossible to beat enemies.
The desert has potential, but the arcs I tried were EXACTLY LIKE THE WESTSIDE ARCS.
Go here. Beat so many enemies. Come back. Go there. Beat so many enemies and pick up this item from them. Go over there. Beat some more enemies and collect/defuse more items.

Small wonder most people play alerts. Quick, easy xp. If you're going to be bored to tears by content, might as well play the content that only bores you for two to five minutes, right?

Occam's Razor makes the cutting clean.

Maybe you're getting bored of MMO RPG's? thats kinda what happens in every game. Other games of course are more Grind-Grind-Grind for months for a piece of junk whereas here theres far more free-roam and choice.

This is why we're asking for more content of course...we've like you said, played what we have into the ground.

Nice, im not surprised. It just gets quicker and quicker! Only reason people dont have hundreds of characters is that even fast-leveling is an absolute brain-destroyer. Keeping mentally willing to level another toon is tough.

Its ironic in that the adventure packs and comic series are some of the best written stories and graphical representations thereof I have seen in any MMO. The plots are interesting, and some cases, like those dealing with the Qlophich (know I butchered the spelling), realm, and forcing the player into the unconscious mind/nightmares of their allies is just, extremely innovative.

But beating the bosses has been a challenge soloing, though I was able to beat the boss that split into four with some advice from my SG about adding defenses. But with Whiteout, the last scene with the spaceship and the boss that turns into a giant monster, just can't beat the last one without a team (though I'm sure others, more experienced may have).

i have to say that where there is existing content, again, especially the APs and comic series, the storylines, graphics are top notch.

In terms of the general content and redundancy, have to agree with another poster that it seems similar on other MMOs. In CoX (well, really the only other MMO I played for more than a few months) the same was true with the exception of the end game/incarnate play they added towards the end. But again here, the APs and CS, definitely superior to anything I've even attempted to play in the past.

I wonder is this your opinion on all 4 reviews or a specific one?

I didn't read beyond the first, quite honestly. The series of reviews didn't "hook" me.

I appreciate you being honest. I know at first the posts can be a bit overwhelming to some do to the amount of text. If you get some spare time on your hands or just get bored I encourage you to read through them all. It was my hope that these reviews would give perspective about CO as well as be highly informative to the newer playerbase about why things are how they are now.

Thank you. I am not intimidated by text. Part of my professional role is one of a Business Analyst. I'm used to reading similar documents.

I would agree that these posts provide a prospective on the game. As I've stated previously. I find them too biased and subjective to find them useful to me and I would not recommend them to new players. I would be more inclined to point new arrivals towards the columns by Mild-Mannered Reporter over at Massively.com.

The effort put into these reviews is obvious. I recognize and appreciate the work put into them. The dedication to Champions Online is evident.

Thanks for the read darkon, lol yes my @ tag and forum name are the same >_> thing is I never really post or use the forums cause I can normally find what I'm searching for in game.... its just yesterday I was silenced for literally no reason (saying selling key for 100g a total of three times not in a row but spaced out) due to the lackluster silencing system put in place. anyhow I just wanted to say thanks for rubbin on my nostalgia button. kind of makes you feel like we're the "old school" and things have changed so much for the worse in such a short time period that while we know its the same game, it feels like a completely different monster with a new set of rules and a new set of up and coming "rulers" But unless this game sinks, I feel that its only a matter of time till it starts reverting back into something we know and recognize. Because when I was first played this game four years ago I did it for the pvp... and I enjoyed teaching and learning in that Giant empty room of a powerhouse lol where it was more like a stock exchange for advice, tips, tutorials, and laughs. where I spent SOOoooooooooooo much money all those years ago walking out of the powerhouse by accident and buying yet another retcon lol tinkering and testing, back when spending 3 weeks in the powerhouse was actually a common practice and easy to do due to the place being packed with people trying out their new Fire sword frost cage concepts which in all practicality were horrible concepts but we all tweaked and helped each-other till it worked. and then we went out and watched our partner/ mentor/ student fight and succeed till someone found a HUGE gaping weakness and it was back to the drawing board. or we'd just team up with them and do utc and be the team that covered each others weaknesses and formed crazy memories.
