    savagedeacon really pours it on:

    Paranoid?

Even MORE so with this post.
One of the things that sealed the fate of COH was the fact DCUO went free to play at about the same time of CoH and a lot of players did choose the newer game with the prestigious IP.

Supposition on your part. Correlation does not equal causation. And you'll need to connect that to people running around praising DCUO on the CoX forums.
Do you know what they do at DCUO when they speak about another game to suggest to implement something that that game has and they don't : It would be cool to have that feature here too but< they add> I left that game because it was too slow or their combat system sucks and so on.

That doesn't show anything but that that poster prefers DCUO. People have different tastes, you know.
I assure you DCUO doesn't need that we , here , at CO advertise them in any way ,especially not now.

And it doesn't need us not to. I'm pretty sure DCUO does NOT consider CO to be credible competition.
And what do you believe that the former CoH players have married this game?

I'd guess they'd be more likely to come here than DCUO, if they were so inclined. Frankly, most of my old CoX pals were already playing STO and took their MMO jollies there (by far, most of them don't want to come here because of the graphics style). Almost uniformly they sneer at DCUO, because it's a totally different game (tough to go from "I create my own character and its path through life" to "Batman: 'I said TWO creams in my coffee!'".
Just now many of them are asking to themseves DCUO or CO? Go ahead not be paranoid tell them "DCUO of course"

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're VASTLY overrating the effectiveness of what you're afraid of. "Oh, they said DCUO had some better features over on the CO board, so that will make my decision." is an unlikely scenario. Which, yes, means paranoid.

Actually I prefer this game a great deal more as it used to be all about customization and making it your super hero. Sadly enough that hasn't been the case for quiet some time. I just don't think we should sit idly by as ew content is released and left half finished. I worry that if the other super hero mmo puts out better versions of the same features people might be willing to over look the flaws that game has, like its terrible hero creator and poorly implemented power sets.

With that new massively article posted it looks like we might even be getting two new hero mmos, and with the sad state this game is in as well as dcuo, they might be the next big thing.

From what they used to say on STO the STO foundry was a bit of a watered down version of the foundry that NW is going to have. I honestly have no clue why they wouldn't release any foundry into CO simply because player made missions would bring a huge amount of replay value back into the game.

Because we're at the very bottom of their priority list, and their concept of bringing "replay value" to the game is to put more stuff in the Z-store instead of building on playable content.

NW is getting a newer build/version of The Foundry. From there, supposedly, it will be ported down to STO as an update and, finally, to CO. Cryptic is supposed to review the possibility of CO getting this new foundry sometime in 2014. Now that doesn't mean CO is getting The "NEW" Foundry in 2014. it simply means they will do cost/manpower projections again at that point and consider it. This happened a few months ago for CO and it was determined that it was a bad idea because it would be using an older version of The Foundry as a base and would mean nothing new in CO for over 6 weeks while the devs completely focused on this(this information was told to me before the yearly Cryptic Dev Vacation to Other Projects) and would be widely considered a waste of time since most of it would have to be redone when NW went live.

This is not to say I agree/dissagree/support/believe or anything like that when it comes to this project. This is merely to share what information I have on the subject. Now, before anybody asks, no I have no links or sources to reveal on this information. So the options are to either believe my post...or ignore it. Either option is fine with me so long as people are civil about it.

Now if DCUO would also inprove the character customization (savable costumes, account wide unlocks, more colors ect.), CO would be in serious trouble.

Yes, yes they would. The reason why I'm here and not DCU is because the character customization sux. I think CO defintely need to improve hideouts. I have one hideout and it's effectively just one big room.

It is pretty unlikely they can do that, at least without putting a huge investment on development. Most animations and other characteristic of the game might be predicated on their current fixed body models. I also consider the restriction that DC itself can impose them.

I saw the last video(a bit long) about home turfs and I can say they are closer to CoH bases than CO hideouts.

A good thing about them is that you can set furniture in specific places, which is nice. CO hideouts kind of does the same but in very restrictive way since the options are tied to the type of hideout.

The bad things is that all home turfs are a reskin from a basic structure with the wall's textures changed. The cave didn't really impress me at least compared to the CO's version.

I agree, in that world it doesn't make very much sense. In our world it would fit perfectly. and yet.... they get it and we don't.

Our tier 4 ability should be to the ability to call 3, 4 or 5 (based on rank) lackeys to help us in a fight. And we need the ability to completely customize their look and abilities. and while we are at it we also need to be able to customize the henchmen of our Nemesis.

Considering the ridiculousness of pet classes as they currently stand, not sure what calling backup and sidekicks would do other than making an incredibly imbalanced system even more so.

I would love for things to be improved but first the out of control systems need to be brought into balance before we just start tacking on more problematic things on top of it.

I can agree with needing things balanced before doing something like this. I just thought it would be a straight forward way for CO to do something similar and replace the relatively worthless current tier 4 powers with something compelling and perhaps even fun.

But I agree, it would take some thinking though.

To be honest CO did dabble with sidekicks, but they were timed devices that were too expensive for how little you got. Although one had a few costume unlocks which seemed like a great idea that they never used again. DCUO will be having henchmen based on your base's theme, so presumably the side kick will be the same so no customization there.

I did however like that you could have either a few less powerful henchmen come in or one more powerful side kick, that was kind of a neat idea. Personally i think that they should up the level cap and add a few new "ultimate" powers since most of them were anything but. This would allow maybe a customizable side kick, a mech suit become power, or some crazy oversized Spirit bomb looking blast, nothing too over powered mind you but dool looking and on a 5-7 minute cooldown to keep it from being used too often.

This game's done nothing but stray away from the one thing that made it so great to begin with: Customization. Heroes, powers, being able to pick which zones you level in (for the most part), there's a lot of great stuff there that SHOULD be customizable but isn't.

I'm actually giving DCUO a try for a while, since there's nothing interesting going on here.

They are already complaining about the new update and telling the devs not to push it live.

I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

    2. Please give us an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition so that PVP has access to all "On Alert" PVE rewards.

If greener pastures that is DCUO involve its laughably clunky combat system and horribly limited customization options, I'm perfectly fine staying in the withered fields.

True on both counts. Hence the posting about how they're doing it and how we should be doing it better. DCUO isn't bad by me but i get frustrated that a lot of what makes that game good is stuff people have been asking from CO for years. It's like the devs there are on the forums here... raiding the suggestion box.....

Either way here's a little bit of super hero goodness that EVERYONE can enjoy.

Its really frustrating. I enjoy this game so much more than DCUO but it get so little love. The DEVs do agreat job with what they do but they're pretty understaff and funded.

When my economics get a little better I was hoping to go lifetime but if the game is going to die of neglect seems kind of pointless.

While i understand the concept that "cryptic is a business and needs to make money" it really surprises me that they're not making more of it by listening to the forums. Granted the forums are the "vocal minority" at the same time it's a great place to build a community for free and some times great ideas on what the players want. It's in some cases quite literally a "here's how to take my money" forum, most of which(not all) has gone ignored by the Cryptic team. Sadly most of that was picked up on by the DCUO team, though they completely missed out on what made this game great in the first place.

It kills me that so many game companies are getting away with half assing everything and then getting mad when people complain, granted people will do that any way, but even the legitimate feedback or requests end up ignored. As far as i see it they should be held more accountable for fulfilling the claims they make to sell a product, not just take the money, and call it a day.

Hideouts are one of the many things i would love to see improved in these games but sadly i think this game will be shut down long before they make good on anything.

Currently the hide out's themselves are way better, but they still have their downsides like monthly charges of ingame currencies(rent and power i believe) which as stated earlier people are already complaining about. The Funny thing is the thing that makes their bases great is something that should and CAN already be in our game for our bases if not for the fact Cryptic gave up on this game so long ago.

All the stuff they can do in terms of decorations is all fully in the foundry system, both in terms of moving and adding furniture to even placing entry points on the map. They just haven't for what ever reason.
