Back to the new forums so I thought I'd revive my old costume thread with some old faves as well as some new ones.

Without further ado:

Vigilante
Hi Tech street fighter. Using him for munitions at the moment, but also good for might builds

Psi Borg
Based on one my favorite Star Trek episodes, this is a robot with telekinetic powers. May not be my best design, but a very fun concept

Baron
My first "reformed villain" concept -- 3rd world country strongman sees the error of his ways and fights the corporate greed that has enslaved his people, yada, yada, yada...

Bio Hazard
This is one of my favorite concepts...but pestilence builds are just so darn squishy

And for round two --- some newer designs:

    Commander K'lrrg
So I had this "thing" about making aliens and this was one of em. The idea was a little guy in a large suit or armor (kinda like Black Talon but not); it kinda sorta worked -- I'm open to suggestions on this one

    Cyber Monk
"Cyber Monk" is just another way of saying Jedi/Sith...only without the light saber. Too bad there's no quarterstaff powerset.

    Have some minimalist designs today:

    Onyx
Got a little bored with Dark Aura, so I experimented with fire flight and some power sets get that Hi Pro Glow effect. Onyx was the first such experiment -- looks really good using light-blue fire flight. I think I used force on him but concept works for any ranged powerset.

    Melt Down
You think YOU'VE had bad days at work? Lemme tell you about mine...
(and no, not a melee-er -- it's a ranged pestilence build. The "aura" is his form power -ed)

    Dr. J
While most think Julius Erving got his famous moniker for his skills on the basketball court, in reality he hold PhDs in Chemical Engineering and Particle Physics. Before embarking on a professional basketball career that would bring him fame and fortune, he traveled the world, using his unique talents to help his fellow man. These are his tales....

Here's the last batch of previous or existing characters -- I have a lot more I do just for fun (even some dreaded clones)...may or may not post those.

    Jungle Jim
Fighting Claws design I've been meaning to redo as a might build. Or maybe use Night Avenger for a guy who can phase into and out of the spirit world to sneak up on opponents and deliver a devastating strike?

    Major Karnage
I needed an excuse to use the chainsaw guantlet (not for efficacy, but because it's really cool) and this is him. Think Spaghetti Western Anti Hero a la High Plains Drifter with much better weapons.

    Raptor
This is about as close as I've ever come to a "traditional" hero. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that I mine always seem to look too campy. At any rate, Raptor was fun while he lasted but resides now in that great cyber vault in the sky.

Updated a few of the previous screens to show the f/x on some of these.

Have a bit of a departure for me today: Kongbot. Or Cyborgrilla. Or A.P.E. - Artificial Primate Enhancement Unit. Or something. It was supposed to be Kong.0, but stoopid copyright filters wont let me and now I can't decide on a name. Robokong? It's all I got.

    kongbot_31.jpg

Here are the different versions (can't decide if I like the simian foot or the abhorrant foot better):

Thanks @rey -- appreciate the compliment.

I've redone Kongbot (now called RoboKong) with darker skin -- I like it a lot better with both leg versions (abhorrant and simian). I like the simian foot better, but it exposes a metallic costume part. Not a big deal to me but I could see it being annoying to some.

    Send in the Clones!

Yeah, I know clones suck. I know they're unimaginative. I know there are copyright issues. I know you can't share or play them in the game....

...but they're so darn fun to make!

Skeletor - Wasn't a huge fan of the cartoon, but I've always liked the idea of a floating-skull-head villian with mystical/supernatural powers. Couldn't make him "just right" so I took him in a new direction that is still true to the theme (imho, of course).
    skeletor.jpg

Marvin the Martian - Here in green, as appeared in Mad as a Mars Hare. .
    marvin_green.jpg

Marvin the Martian - Here is a more modernized version of his original appearance (Haredevil Hare). Had to give him a cape -- he looked naked without it.
    marvin.jpg

And can't forget the ray gun:

Went in a new direction again with today's submissions (screens only).

First up is Vagrant. Started out as a pestilence build (i.e. Homeless Guy Body Odor -- ATTACK!!!) but I'm thinking he'll be a TK/Leach build: Vernon Alfonso Grant. Small time hood who uses his TK powers to swindle people out of their money earns a deathmark when he unknowingly swindles the nephew of a Russian mob boss. Escapes by faking his own death and living "off grid" as a street urchin. He tries to lay low but can't resist using his powers against the organized criminals who forced him into hiding.
    vagrant_new.jpg

Next we have Black Smith. John Henry Smith invents a new metal fiber that amplifies your movements -- effectively giving super strength and speed if woven into your clothing. Wields a hammer for obvious reasons. Two version below: welder's facemask with baseball cap and heavy goggles with utility belt.

    bs_hammer_cap.jpg

    bs_utility.jpg

Now I just have to find time to play these

I like a lot of the designs here! You have some good taste going.

Man just scrolling down.. your description of Vagrant.. made me actually laugh irl. And i dont laugh much. Skeletors design was excellent, i love it as a whole, everything just seems to flow together.

With your KongBot, in my personal opinion you should go with the simian foot.

Overall good costumes! :D Can't wait to see more from you! Impressive!

Thanks @liste -- I'm going with simian foot after all....looks better even with the clipping. I also gave Vagrant more of a backstory.

And speaking of backstories; well, not really, I just said that because I have no real segue, but that's not important right now...

Today we have Belraan, your typical pulp era alien scientist (petmaster/gadgeteer) who came to conquer Earth, but lost the launch codes for the cloaked weapons platform orbiting the planet. I'm trying to get over my issues with color mixes, but am currently playing the grey version at the moment (bottom). Didn't like the red version but blue and green are below. I'm open to suggestions on color scheme. The costume file is attached if anybody wants to take a crack at it.

Back after a little break of actually playing the game for once with some more Sith-like builds.

Tarsis is an attempt at armored robes -- I suppose that's a contradiction, but, whatever. Samurai belt and leg armor is ideal for this build, but not very compatible with the chest/arm pieces I'm using....too bad. :frown:

    tarsis.jpg

Qurok started as a sorcery build but ended up as a fighting claws/rager; threw in some force powers to give him that Sith/Jedi feel.

    Revenge of the Clones!

Thundarr, The Barbarian was, like the COOLEST cartoon out when I was a kid. Then I realized how bad it really is/was while watching on Boomerang.

Still, it will always have a place in my heart. Without further ado, I present: Ariel, Thundarr and Ookla....together again!

    Chill
Didn't have any elemental heroes....do now. Standard cold powerset theme build.

    I-borg
Don't know why I like robots/cyborgs so much, but I just do. Here's the latest incarnation; slated for laser/sword particle damage if I ever get the time to play him.
    iborg.jpg

    Lynk

And Chill V2 -- urban jersey isn't the best because you can still kinda sorta see the numbers on it, but it's the only decent oversized top (not feeling the polo shirt). Oh well....

Yeah...that's just the standard head model (with "mohawk wild"). It would be better if the hair was metallic too; fairly seamless with fire flight/fire passive, but pretty obvious otherwise.

You can see the bone/leather version here is a much smoother transition (I just like the shiny head!):

Tarsis - this is the arcane version of the sith/jedi I posted earlier. No back story yet, but going for a science n sorcery thing.

Wrecking Ball is just that....a short round bruiser. One build has him as a glass cannon, the other has him as a damage sponge that never goes down (can't decide which is more fun to play...glass cannon keeps you on your toes!). He was supposed to be "Hammer Head" a la Version A but stoopid name filter wouldn't let me. Version B is below.

Back again with some Pseudo Originals.

I call them "Pseudo Originals" because they're both my interpretations of some classic archetypes.

And so, without any further ado.......

M.I.A. -- This is your standard revenant/avenging angel concept, only I'm using a solder/munitions theme. Kinda like the ghosts the bomber pilot sees in the original "Heavy Metal", only not as evil.
    MIA.jpg

Harold Angel -- This started as the ghosts from The Matrix, but ended up as an errandboy for He Who Broughteth Light From Darkness. Kinda bummed about saturation in some of the color choices -- makes their boots look jaundiced (and the light grey is too dark for this theme....oh well). Two versions below: Classic and Modern.

Playing around in the costume creator for today's submissions.

First we have Conduit. Uses laser sword for melee and elec for ranged damage (with elec offensive passive for added effectiveness). I tried to make the base suit look rubbery, but it's hard to tell in the dark colors . Oh well, still a fun concept.

Last submission for a while -- figure I should actually play the game and not just create characters

Besides, this design took me down the Golden Age road, and now I'm intrigued with creating Golden Age looks....will be doing some research before really going deep.

But, I digress. Here we have Titan. Started off as a black Hercules and just sorta ran with it. Basic might build....nothing too fancy here.

    Classic deign is first:
    titan_classic.jpg

Next we have a modernized version of the classic look:
    titan_modern.jpg

And, finally, the Golden Agers that instigated my opening ramble:

And about those Golden Agers.....I always thought they looked hokey, but there's a certain retro coolness about them. More to follow.....

OK, so, "for awhile" only turned out to be a few days. Started messing around with the Golden Age and ended up with a sci fi hero: Zap Neptune -- Defender of Mars. He's half Flash Gordon, half Buck Rogers, half Space Cadet, half Rocketeer and half a few pulp era comics I looked at for ideas.

    Here's the Jet Pack/Rocketeer version:
    zap_jetpack.jpg

Next up, we have Space Patrol version 1:
    zap_patrol1.jpg

    And Space Patrol version 2:
    zap_patrol3.jpg

Finally, Space Patrol version 2, which kinda looks like a cop.....whatever:

Colors are the toughest part -- I want to make them dark but that's not very Golden-Agey....suggestions are welcome.

Well, it's been a while, but I'm back with another submission: Deviant.

He started as a pulse rifle/laser sword cyborg, then he turned into a laser sword/particle burn cyborg, then he turned into a nemesis, and now he's just.....Deviant. It's a "lab experiment gone awry misunderstood hero" kinda thing. Three versions:

    Hulking Brute:

I'd use brown instead of grey. The current version, even with the vein-like texture for skin, looks more like mossy rock than tree.

Everything else looks really solid, though. Both on that outfit and in general here - I think the Jackson outfits might be the best civilian-style outfits I've seen in quite a while.
