Actually, I think Reloaded DOES count as a full content release.
Which really irritates me more than anything else, if you think about it -- instead of fixing bugs or working on any of the stuff that's been requested for years, they drop in something like the vehicle system? Which obviously took some of the deep planning and design that other areas of the game desperately need (like HQs, pvp, new powersets, maybe Foundry, new missions, new zones, ...)
Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
Making a new game is no reason to abandon an existing game though. If they dont have enough staff to support a game and make a new one GET MORE STAFF.
Shooting yourself in the foot by running a game with no support will lose you hundreds of perspective customers for the new game you are favoring as well as bad word of mouth about no support and updates on the current games go round.
I wish that Cryptic would stop treating CO as the sacrifiable lamb in their schemes.
I know I've bagged on Cryptic for: lack of communication; appalling QA; infrequent and uneven updates; and, all the while, over-promising while under-delivering ...
But if CO, STO and NWN didn't share a common code base that allows changes in one game to be propagated to the others, this game would either have been shuttered or we'd have seen even fewer updates.
Or, put another way, CO gets a helping hand from its stablemates. While CO has, as far as we can tell, a skeleton crew working on it, it does benefit from developments in Cryptic's other titles.
Yeah, fine, we tend to get the low-hanging fruit (or sloppy seconds, like lockboxes), but ... it's still something. And while we're unlikely to ever see anything that would require intensive development, we're still seeing some improvements.
Even if I don't really care all that much for where CO's heading, I'd rather have it limp along than be shuttered.
A quick note: one of the take-aways from CoH's shuttering should have been that the combination of frequent updates, a robust end-game, UGC, a decent crafting and marketing system, good teaming, and a solid FTP model don't guarantee growth. At best, CoH's robust development cycle maintained its playerbase. But the long-term picture was that CoH had been slowly shedding players since release -- the major releases like CoV caused only short-lived upward spikes in the playerbase.

Are you saying vehicles haven't been requested for years?
If so, that's false. People have been requesting vehicles for a whicle, and yes it takes dev time to kick stuff like that out. In a plus for Cryptic it also generates revenue. If they just fixed bugs, which they have been doing, it would not as easily be tracked in a red/black sort of way. If it would help at all.

I'd like to remind that we are already in the middle of an update - Reloaded is still unfinished, there is still wave 2 incoming, and it will take time to complete it.
Let's wait for devs finishing this one task before doomsaying, kk?
I wouldn't call Reloaded "big." Heck, I question calling it an "update."
On Alert threw everything on its ear. It brought a lot of good to the table, but at the same time left a lot of work to be done.
Teaming below 40 outside alerts STILL sucks for a wide variety of reasons, instanced content that isn't alerts is practically pointless for leveling as well, as much as people ***** about the difficulty slider not doing enough, it doesn't even effect queued instances to begin with, the in game market is all sorts of screwed up for half a dozen combined reasons, the spec trees themselves could really use a bit more work to make them competitive with each other, bugs bugs and more bugs...
Uh what else is there...
Oh, AP rewards still suck, and it's even worse now in contrast to what you can do combining overworld missions with smashes. As well as the fact jack squat drops in Alerts, now that "Algo Blues" are no longer a thing. Which is a damn shame, since at least with the way things used to be, some of the most well made and interesting content was where the best gear was...
I could go on. While they're busy pissing around with lockboxes, there's a mountain of crap, old and new, still piling up as time goes on. I'll give them they did a decent job on Toggles, but even there we've got an odd man out and a few unfilled niches (debuffer, ranged/melee hybrid, flat non-crit damage).
It's because PW took over. All of their other games that they didn't come up with themselves they drove into the ground, starting with lockboxes.

the wave two part is correct. it may have been in the initial post for the reloaded patch but they did save the bikes atleast for wave two. Though that doesnt mean reloaded if unfinished. Just means they didnt want to give us the best part of vehicles right away.

I can't help but feel that PW will replace Brad in his position before Reloaded is complete.
Its months worth of work and its gained zero traction.

Going by the way they handle "new stuff"... I'd wager the very fact that it seems half-finished... means it's done.

Ha. Before the forums merged a while ago, I was simply Smackwell. The Biff is new to the name, so that's why people still refer to me as Smack or Smacky or idiot. Call me whatever you want. :P
It's not like the developers went over to STO for three days. Takes a while. I don't remember the exact time frame, but it was very obvious that we were missing some folk for a while.
first i want to say i respect you. and i know you can be the voice of the community.
i have a question can you ask cryptic/pwe if they are going to support this game? after neverwinter launches. i dont mean with more alerts or zstrore items. i mean story content.

Sorry, I don't work for Cryptic or Perfect World. I'm not a voice of the community (plenty of folk around here wouldn't like that! :P). The "Community" in "Community Moderator" just means that I'm part of the community. Moderating the forums is just a volunteer thing.
So, I can't get you that information any more than you or anyone else can.

Maybe put some sort of disclaimer in your sig so you don't have to worry about people going off on you for thinking you're part of Cryptic? I've heard it's happened in the past.

Our Community Mods used to have little disclaimers but the forum overhaul kinda ate them.

Sooo...for being Cryptic, then?
So much of the stuff in these threads reminds me of CoX just before Jack and Cryptic sold it and buggered off. Then NCSoft threw a bunch of money at them, they hired staff and got stuff done. It was a world of difference between the old penny-pinching ways and the new, actually doing something ways. Really, you have to put SOME money into things or why even bother? MMOs aren't finished once they're open, they've only started.

One big update and a super agressive advertising campaign, you mean.

Communication has gone low recently, especially on the future plans. No Ask Cryptic or STG's
I hope we don't get the exactly the same winter event as last year, at least some tweak to show some care.
