Mr Friction droned some Villain in the PVP zone known as Recluse's Victory. The dude he droned was really a big wheel at the cracker factory known as NC Soft. So basically the dude was so butt hurt about being droned he shutdown the game...Pffft figures.
I think im still in shock over the loss of my first Superpower MMO, Fair Well Dark Ebon Spider and Abyssal you will be missed (Until i make you again on Champs and this time keep you )
I hope all who lost their beloved world find a new home with us here in Millenium, while it wont be your beloved Rogue Isles or Atlas Park it will be a sufficient and hopefully welcoming new place to hang your cape.
I really only hope that Elizabeth Bathory and her Court find their way to Millenium that way i can rejoin them once more.
many thanks
V
Well.. I am over too..
Bathory Erzsebet (Elizabeth Bathory) and the Court of the Blood Countess found refuge in Millenium City.
Give me a howler when you can Ebon Spider...
Yet another CoX refugee here, and I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and the genuine welcome. I joined City of Heroes back in July of 2004 on the Guardian Server as @Flafty, and stayed with it ever since. For 8 wonderful years I created and wrote my own stories for my characters, framed in the events inside Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, and Praetoria City as they happened. In doing so, I found my joy. Hearing of the game's closure was a blow, and on the last day I remained with my fellow Guardians until the very end.
Only now am I starting to look into other MMO alternatives. Of the two, I chose Champions Online over DC Universe Online. Why? I found that when I tried DCUO, clicking the mouse as many times as it required to perform basic attacks caused me immense pain in my hands and upper back. Not being into pain, I quickly abandoned it.
This is not the first time I've played Champions Online. I dabbled with it shortly after it went Free-to-Play in 2011, but never stuck with it. I returned on December 31st 2012 as a subscriber and ... uh ... the game's mechanics are rather different from what I remember. My old test character was still there, waiting for me to return after 363 days of being away.
I'm hoping to bring my characters and their stories into your world as best I'm able. Bear with me while I learn the ropes and ask very dumb questions along the way. To old friends just making their way to Millennium City: it?s a joy to see you again. To the heroes and citizens of Millennium City: hello and how are you? To the criminals and villains out there: consider yourself on notice.
Welcome Flafty, I was DeathSentry on Guardian and like you, started early on (2003 if I remember) and stayed a paid subscriber till the end. I also, especially since Issue 14, was hooked on Mission Architect, so when it all ended in November, I lost a community of friends and characters and stories that I can never access again.
So with the link in my last post, I keep trying to find out if Cryptic will ever port over its Foundry code (same as MA) from Star Trek Online/NeverWinter over to Champions to at least, as you stated, allow us to continue to tell our stories. To me, we could help express the Champions Lore (different universe ..smile). And as passionately as the Cryptic executive discussed User Generated Content (UGC) in the link I provided, he made no mention of CO at all..was very disappointing.. hopefully someone else here will chime in.
But in any event, welcome! I've started recreating my CoX Guardian and Freedom (ok, and Virtue) characters here too!
