So I decided to do some numbers testing comparing the passives that people use to give some dodge/avoidance. Testing was done in Hybrid role (changing roles did not change any of the numbers). When I picked my specs, I was primary DEX and chose my normal 1 Evasion, 1 Quick Reflexes, and 3 crit severity. My piece of gear was UNITY Avoidance with a R4 dodge mod.
Base d/a:
No gear: 10/20
With gear: 37.7/58.7
Night Warrior: 57% all damage bonus, +10% armor ignore, +9.5% charge time redux
No gear: 18.8/32.1
With gear: 41.9/62.7
With gear and spec: 44/63.9
Bonus from gear/spec: +25.2 dodge, +31.8 avoid
Total bonus: 57
Quarry: 76% phys damage, +38% non-phys damage
No gear: 28/20
With gear: 55.7/58.7
With gear and spec: 58.2/60.1
Bonus from gear/spec: +30.2 dodge, +40.1 avoid
Total bonus: 70.3
*keep in mind that Audacity stacks 3 times and grants 9% Avoidance per stack
Way of the Warrior: 111% phys melee damage and bleed, +90% other melee damage
No gear: 31.3/47.9
With gear: 48.4/68.8
With gear and spec: 50/69.6
Bonus from gear/spec: +28.7 dodge, +21.7 avoid
Total bonus: 50.4
Lightning Reflexes
No gear: 58.2/79.1
With gear: 64.7/84.6
With gear and spec: 65.2/84.8
Bonus from gear/spec: +7 dodge, +5.7 avoid
Total bonus: 12.7
My thoughts:
LR gets hit so hard by diminishing returns that it isn't worth the gear/spec efforts unless you plan on not gearing for d/a or spec'ing for it. In other words, spec completely for offense. This would be more of a levelling tactic than group play.
Quarry gets much more of a bonus from gear/specs so if you want to use the d/a utilities, Quarry will make it more worth the points.
WotW gets such an amazing damage boost (35% more than Quarry), along with boosting the other melee types (90% with tested stats) that, for pure melee, there really isn't much opposition when you stack d/a on top of the damage boosts
The average numbers of NW compared to average numbers on damage, although it is ALL damage, will still fall short of Quarry for ranged or WotW for melee, but it does have some nice tricks, like stealth to give it a "fun" factor. I never hit anything with these tests, just ran some numbers, so I would be interested to see how much of a role that 10% armor ignore and 9.5% charge redux plays in overall effectiveness.

That's true, which is why, no matter what build I run, if DEX is my primary, I would ALWAYS pick 3/3 crit severity over the dodge/avoidance and use leftover points in those.

Even without LR, dex specs will net you just a few more percentage points.
