The "Legacy" costume pieces, AF's and devices.
In a Drifter Store.
In a Grab Bag.

That said, the Legacy Devices are now actual device slot items (instead of equipment slots) AND they have unlimited charges.
Ice Grenade (30 second recharge, does ice damage and holds targets)? Awesome.
The Elder Worm Humidity Dome (at 80% of max End, you turn see-through and get damage resistance)? Awesome.
The Vespene Cloak (Takofangs drop, lets you hover like the Gamestop preorder boots)? Awesome.
Some of the others? Not so much (but there are some good items in there I didn't list). I also heard that Crush adjusted the average Drifter Salvage amount upwards again for this.

But this is from PTS. And we all know what happens in PTS...Everyone let's say it together in 3...2...1... 'What happens in PTS doesn't happen in Live!'

So the devices are unlimited uses or even passively active? Still doesn't justify the randomness and the high cost combined. I could understand a random chance at a tenth of the price or a high cost for whichever you wanted. But not both.
okay i had 160 salvage so i copied her over to PTS
device bags are nice you get 2 per bag and they are unlimited versions
completely random but i even got some pet devices
i bought a costume bag but it wouldn't let me open it
this could be because i have all legacy costumes already or because it isnt finished yet.
too bad i cant bring my psionic echoes device back to live, makes two ego clones of yourself
devices do not come in bound
This is a a very unfortunate turn of events for me, to say the least. I cannot pay by direct debit anymore and barely have access to time cards. Zen cards are impossible to get in my parts even. In other words: I can't buy grab bags, even if I wanted to. -.-;
Oh well. Looks like I'll have to buy all the pieces I didn't get from the AH - for 10.000 G and more.
Btw: Are the crafted travel power devices in the device bag?
Btw: Are the crafted travel power devices in the device bag?
After a good bit of "farming" I can tell you no.
There are a lot of devices that are 'useful' and even those that break the game entirely.
On a side note Buying grab bags for grab bags is a GOOD idea. It will generate much more zen and we will have a 'better' market going for questionite. Finally SOMETHING to waste questionite on...for awhile....until everyone gets what they want and then they patch out the obvious exploits and people complain about losing the usefulness of certain items when bought in bulk and binding all of them to one character.
I just hope that they don't give any slack to anyone who abuses obvious exploits. Because I know that I WILL abuse them to the fullest if the packs hit live in the shape that they are in now.
Well, this is disappointing. I'd have loved to just see the devices available in the Q-Store rather than stuck in the Drifter Store, because I have the worst luck with salvage.
Adjusted to what? Chance to get 100 Drifter Salvages from the bag?
I wish good luck to people spending money for the Drifter Slag Bag so you can buy a another Grab Bag.
It sounds like they are revampong the grab bags llike they did for STO's Lock boxes. So look for Grab Bag having a minimum of 4 Salvage which changes for up to 20 Salvage per bag. And there won't be any cruft in them either. So no more 1 Savage and 1 Catalyst in a Grab Bag. STO has a Duty Officer Requisition. I don't know what would be the equivalent for CO would or could be. Safeguard Catalyst pack, maybe?
You know how a few of his dailies have had junk drops?
How about giving the junk drops a 3:1 conversion ratio on Drifter Salvage, because Drifter Salvage = junk, and the junk drops = junk. Gives the junk drops a purpose.
I don't get why the action figures weren't just in the questionite store from the very beginning, like the UNITY and adventure pack ones.
I can see why they're doing this whole grab bag thing, because it basically makes a permanent Drifter Salvage sink. It'll provide a possible buy for "the guy who has everything" - a player like me who has a Zen stipend and bought everything he wanted from the questionite store already.
BUT
It's still rather insulting. My worst fear in the weeks leading up to the On Alert update was that all the gear and devices and upgrades I had been used to and was working for was going to just disappear, and that's what happened. No more VIPER vibroblasters, electricity rifles, Ratso's Icy Attachments, draysha gas pistols, flavor text, action figures, etc. And then that's exactly what happened.
Then they decided to capitalize on our wish to have the legacy items back, by doing this "grab bag gate" thing where you have to buy grab bags for the currency to buy a second grab bag which I assume probably has an obsolete grab bag as one of its drops (the first grab bags WERE devices after all).
It's kind of like when the crafting discipline buildings came back. They took out nine of them, then halfway brought three back, and the return of them was touted as a huge step forward.
It's a "careful what you wish for" thing I suppose. If you don't say you want something back, it'll just stay gone. But if you do, it'll come back behind three locks and some of the keys don't fit.

It's possible they were looking at the amount of effort and time needed to unlock all of these items and decided that salvage was the equivalent. Which would make sense if I didn't get most of them with minimal effort leveling my crafting skills back then.
The uber travel powers they used to have? Okay. Those took a lot of effort. The guns and hats? No way. Those should be in the Z-store. (Well, they all should be, but what would they have to keep the completists playing then?)
It sounds like they are revampong the grab bags llike they did for STO's Lock boxes.
Every second drop will be a grab bag with odds on the Planck Level of winning anything but vendor trash. The forums filled with endless complaining about how it's getting shoved down everyone's throats. The showy hand-wringing over those poor people wasting all of their money on impulse buying keys to the lockboxes who definitely aren't me getting angry for not winning...
But on the bright side, if PWE wants to monetize the game like this it means they think it has a future and isn't just "Came with the Cryptic sale that we'll keep around as long as it isn't losing money."
would have been better to just lower the price in the drifter store, that way the change would affect previously bought bags as well
The new change is a broader chance of getting little to none making you have to buy multiples.
Just like a casino.
I would rather buy the Legacy bags directly from the Z store than having to purchase (1 to 20 Drifter Salvage bags) for just one. And that's just for the cheapest AF Legacy bag.
But on the bright side, if PWE wants to monetize the game like this it means they think it has a future and isn't just "Came with the Cryptic sale that we'll keep around as long as it isn't losing money."
That's a good point actually. However, it can backfire if the prices are made too steep.
They weren't put in the store because the itemization was half finished when it was pushed to live.
For the people who are getting the items from the grab bags, how are these items binding?
It is disappointing that the choice was made to tie these action figures and devices to a grab bag when the daily mission doesn't give you enough or isn't around nearly long enough to build up any amount of salvage. Granted you had to work for these items in the first place, but under no circumstances is it even remotely shocking that they are being made available in this way.
Via Questionite would have been the respectful way to go, Drifter Salvage is just the money way to go. Some of us already have some of these items and want to finish, now we will likely have to get more than we need to finish.

Unbound is good. Hope it stays that way. Account wide would be good, or storeable among characters or hell, just make them buyable for resources, it's not like we've got anything else to spend them on.
Or just do the smart thing and make them not quite as expensive.
Want to make these things fly off the shelf, make money at the same time, more money than you will this way PW?
Make the pricing per bag 10/20/30z, 1 legacy item, 1 Drifter salvage per bag. Then, put the individual items up for 20/40/60 drifter salvage.
At 100z, you won't get any of my money or Z, none of it. At the pricing scheme above, you'd get at least my stipend along with a couple other z purchases, engage remorse that I shoulda saved for that travel power/costume pack and then I'd pony up for more Z.
You need items that generate a steady flow of 'nickels and dimes'. Spending that hurts WAY less than 100 a pop.
I'm not angry... just sad that Cryptic/PWE no longer wants my money... I feel like the proverbial jilted lover: I have all this stuff I want to give to the company, but no one there is listening or willing to take the z from my wallet (by ponying up anything even remotely worth me spending money on. How others feel is, of course, their own lookout).
The problem is not all legacy stuff made it into these bags. Specifically open mission purple devices that have been confirmed to be removed with On Alert. On a smaller scale Action Figures 2 and 3.

I'm sure they will get to the devices, they just did upgrades. they also have to get to the costume unlocks from the PRIs.
*siiiiiiiiiiiigh* another effin' waste of my dang time in this game.
Little by little they are making want to stop being a dedicated player. It's to the point I only play this game to RP. Because they clearly stopped being for the player the moment grab bags and the history-less Drifter showed up in more than just a Who the heck are you in the first nem mission.

Yay grab bags... /sarcasm
Drifter's actually got a history, but it isn't explained in the game. I don't actually have the sourcebooks from the PnP, but I'm told he was a lawyer that was murdered in the early 20th century and came back as a ghost with supernatural powers.

yeah she knows that, we have had talks about that. Which is why him having no history is annoying.
I think the Cyborg peices take his ghost body and turn him into a physical body.
