Really huge laser beams?

So, I've got a concept I want to make, but I'm not sure which powers fit it best. I'm trying to create a magical girl type character who uses those massive, iconic beam type attacks like you might see in something like Nanoha. Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBunw-BxydQ

Basically the biggest and flashiest attacks there are. I imagine it might be something in Force, but I haven't really gotten to see most of the powers in game in action yet. I'm not too worried about it being the most damaging, but if it can be made to be above average that's always a plus.

Unfortunately there's nothing *quite* like that, which is a shame because it would fit my character perfectly! :( But you could try Force Cascade or Concussor/Chest/Plasma Beam from the Power Armor set. There's also Orbital Cannon which is a huge laser but it comes from the sky, not your character. I'm currently using Celestial Conduit and Plasma Beam as lasers on my light-powered toon, if that helps.

While its not a huge bolt.

Rank 3 Eldritch Blast should come really close. It has a lot of the "super charge up attack runes" similar to the video.

Flashy, unique and a light show...that sounds like Celestial Conduit. Not quite a beam, it's swirling waves of energy flowing towards the target. You also have a special animation where you lift off the ground as you channel the energy and you are covered in a light aura as well. It's a single target maintain, Not the most damage, but it can also heal if you target a friendly.

But Force Cascade would also fit that criterial. It's a 100 ft range, 5 ft cylinder attack that does massive amounts of damage. It also throw outs damaged graphics on any surface nearby the Cascade itself. It's big, flash and also an Energy Monster. It takes 300+ Energy for a full charge.

So I found a video of Force Cascade and it looks pretty awesome. I imagine it must take some kind of dedicated build to be able to afford to cast it.

Sort of. If you use Ranged Damage (Offensive) role, it actually cuts the energy cost in 1/2, but it kills any energy form for 8 seconds. You'll need SS End or Int to be able to get ful charge out of. But even w/o a full charge, it packs a hefty punch. normally a 1/2 charge is more than enough to wipe a group of henchman (even on Elite, if they don't get a dodge it). The *mad* mini-max builds are getting to be able to tap Force Cascade 10+ times in a row.

Would it be possible to run in support role alongside some heals?

Orbital Cannon is huge. The Anvil of Dawn advantage makes it stick around and chase targets for a while.
    Chest Beam is pretty big.

Support form will really help in the Energy department. It should be doable. If you get Energy Cost Reduction gear, you can probably get it down to 100 Energy or so for a full charge with the Energy Form consumption. That means any Energy Form proc will be consumed, and you damage boosting passive will cutout for 8 seconds. Then your FC energy cost will shoot up to over 200 for that duration.

So you should be able to get off a big boom every 8-10 seconds depending on your Energy level, and then tossing out heals in between.

Try Electric Arc Rank 3 in the Chest Slot. Especially if you have Electric Form it creates a beam so large that it is actually difficult to see your character, with the added bonus that it is actually one of the better DPS powers in the game.

Also, there is a slider controlling the Bloom effects. You want to crank that baby UP. It makes the "lazery" powers bigger, brighter, and badder. Most people consider it an eyesore, but it is your best bet for that over the top Anime type of effect.

The beam becomes much more solid and dense when you hit Rank 3 and when you change the colour it can pass for other types of beam weapon. Can't find a video for it, unfortunately, and I do not know how to make one myself. You may want to head to the Public Test Server and give it a shot, though, and see the effect for yourself.

If you want the sorcerykind of sigils in that blast like the video had, Rank 3 Eldritch Blast is awesome for it, from Mystic Power Sets.

I've just picked up Typhoon and it looks pretty convincing, I don't know if you could pass it off as a laser but it has a cool charge-up animation.
