Hi all,
a relativelt NEW gold member here. Luv the game so far and am a BIG fan of Thematic builds. So I wanted to ask all you experts out there for some help on an old D & D character I had back in the day and make him a Champion.
The concept is prettu easy, he is called Lightning Cleric (Trademarked :P) and his general abilites are: attacks with unarmed and/or mace/staff/big hoggin sword (like Might and/or Heavy weapon); electric/energy range attacks (one single one AoE would be great); self buffs of physical abilities (think of those abilities that increase your strength, HP, dexterity, you get the idea); self healing AND teammate healing (he is a cleric after all; this can be REGEN for self and target heals for team--Celestial has a decent attack/heal I saw at lvl 1 so that fits a LOT of the above).
Pretty much want to be DPS/support, of course being able to take a beating would be nice too. Pretty much want it all, but DPS/healing is key here.

What I propose is the following (sorry I don't know how to POST builds yet):
Super stats
1st) Either Ego or Str (leaning toward STR)
2nd) Con
3rd) Dex or the other remaining Ego/Str
LVL 1) Energy Builder--ANY really
LVL 1) Rebuke
LVL 6) Cleave
LVL 8) Aura of Primal Majesty
LVL 11) Decimate
LVL 14) Arc of Ruin
LVL 17) Enrage
LVL 20) Brimstone
LVL 23) Eldritch Shield
LVL 26) Imbue
LVL 29) Illumination
LVL 32) Conviction
LVL 35) Earth Splitter
LVL 38) Planar Fracture

Sorry I have no idea how to rank these up, but I figure you all would know what to do better than I. Don't want pets (doesn't fit the theme); not a big fan of trying to pick either MELEE vs RANGE (I like to be able to do both given a choice); as far as travel powers, I like Teleport and would prob consider acrobatics for the last one, but leave that to you again.

As for talents, again see the Super stats above and assume I am trying to maximize all of them as best I can. I assume HYBRID is a decent role to shoot for, but again, any advice would be welcome.

PEACE and happy gamin to all.
P.S. Sorry If I placed this in the wrong spot on the forums. Please advise what to do to change that. Thanks ;o)

There is a Builds and Roles section of the Powers subforum, I believe, that would get more traffic than the Public Test Server sub-forums....

    Couple things pop out:

You don't have an energy management stat like REC, INT or END and no energy unlocks... of course, with AoPM, your REC, END ~and~ INT will all be high ANYWAY so it may not be an issue (one of the reasons I love AoPM).

To each his own, but I prefer Celestial Conduit to Rebuke. The former is a maintained power that (with illumination) can chain to other allies to heal multiple people (or chain to other enemies to damage in an AoE), whereas Rebuke has to be charged up and THEN fired at one ally (or foe). The animations on each are rather... unique... and that can play a big role, too.

I don't remember if it's Arc of Ruin that applies/refreshes Enrage or if it's some other heavy weapons attack --- I HAVE Enrage on my Heavy Weapons guy with no knockback powers because one of the heavy weapon powers DOES explicitly stack Enrage but I think it's the Combo attack that does that. Earth Splitter and Brimstone (neither of which my HW guy has) MAY provide the knocks necessary to charge up Enrage.

If you're not going DEX primary for massive crits (in which case Form of the Tempest would be my preference over Enrage, unless you want the giant growth of the latter)... then I would lean toward CON as primary ---- with AoPM you are not going to have much in the way of defenses (unless you gear / specialization for Dodge) so the more CON you have the more hit points you have...

DEX secondary superstat gives you SOME crits (with AoPM, a lot, actually)... EGO and STR are pretty much there for damage-boosting and since you have a mix of ranged and melee attacks, it's a toss-up which to use. Me, I don't like constantly getting prompts to pick up things and with a high STR you will get that prompt all the TIME (from trucks, etc)... of course with AoPM even non-superstat-STR can lift trucks....

If you DO go CON superstat, I think there is a specialization that lets DEX boost your Dodge score... so you could make DEX a secondary superstat and with AoPM get a nice Dodge rating (especially with some Dodge/Avoid gear) which would help your survival nicely.

Sorry to spam my own thread, BUT I was redoing the build and was wondering since I am relying on Dexterity + Defense to be my real protection, is there a decent HoT I should invest in to help myself out?

    Thanks in advance.

STR primary, take Juggernaut. With CON secondary (boosted by AoPM) you can get some pretty good +defense. If you boost stats high it actually gets scary.

I'd go STR, CON, PRE. STR for spec tree and you are mostly melee, CON for more HPs, so you don't die so often, PRE for big heals and others get more from your Aura.

I know, DEX gives criticals, but theres also gear for that. Gear is not as good as DEX, but good enough. STR spec tree also some perks for melee crits.

Replace Eldritch Shield with Force Shield/Force Sheathe. You get energy when being hit. Need energy or nothing works.

Decent heal? Shift Conviction down. Reorganize powers in such a way that you take heal as soon as posible. Or even before that. Your not much of a Hero if you are dead.

An Active Defense would help alot with survivability.

Well, if you're getting Dodge from your Dex via specs, then a good idea would be to get BCR w/ RR. That'll proc a HoT every time you dodge and also makes a good proc for MSA if you have it.
