    It's gear modding now.

I still can't figure out why they decided to reduce it to what it is now. The original crafting system was so much better and you could um... actually craft items.

I just reactivated my Gold status after a long hiatus (subscribed for six months after the original Beta), and I'm wondering "So where is the rest of it?"

Started a fresh character, got my first piece of moddable gear around ten, it was useless to me, sold it. Since then (now lvl 21), I've gotten exactly one other piece of moddable gear, which was likewise not worth using (Force Blaster with the specialization that runs KB off your Ego, so I don't need Str gear). I guess I could try to skillup Fusing Mods together, if I ever found five of anything.

At least with the old system I knew there were a few things I could craft that were worth some of the effort (bags, healing temps), and I could gain skill over time by taking apart the relevant loot drops. Now... meh. I'm not looking for something as complex and annoying as the FF XIV system, but I'd like to see something worth the attention I'm asked to provide the system.

(I also have huge piles of old-school crafting salvage sitting around on my original characters, just waiting for the promised conversion options. @Whee)

A three-week-old bug makes it nearly impossible to level up in mods, because getting the glowing suitcases/skulls no longer awards a skill point.

Ctrl+Right Click = converts everything in one shot, even things located in the character's personal bank.

Ashlocke was my original forum name but was unable to keep it during the PW forum migration. *Shakes Fist* :frown:

Keep in mind. EVERYTHING you had will convert to Rank 1 level mods. And for the most part rank 1 mods are fairly useless, and sell for next to nothing in the vendors.

For this reason alone some will simply suggest not converting and dumping your old materials on the vendors directly. This is an option.

However, If you have a considerable sum of old mats. Converting wont be totally useless. You have a random chance for each mod converted to become a safeguard catalyst. With enough old mats, you can end up with a large pile of free safeguards just by converting.

As a bonus, i'm told fusing seems to be the only current viable way to level crafting skills. Having a large assortment of rank 1 mods ready to be upgraded. Seems an option worth more then just a few G from the vendor.

Don't hate on the rank ones, I converted one character's stuff and walked out with about 30 r5 mods by the time it was all done.

What you omitted was that this process doubtless took several hours of just sitting there (mind-numbingly) fusing stuff.

Plus, it's best to do it with a character already at 400 in (the so-called) crafting skill. Since it directly relates to your CHANCE at SUCCESSFUL fusions.
