One of the biggest problems I've found with nemesis system is that you can't share your nemesis with others. The only real way to share a nemesis is to have your friends/super group members party with you in order to fight a particular nemesis. I got to thinking what if members of a super group I belonged to, or my friends wanted to fight a nemesis I created, but I'm not online to activate said nemesis or fight them myself. Then I got a sort of brainstorm once I saw the foundry that star trek online uses, and is currently being adapted to never winter nights. Granted this idea weighs heavily on whether, or not CO gets its own version of the foundry.
The idea can basically be summed up as the nemesis foundry. With this you can make missions based around your nemesis. You're like okay whats so special about that ? To put it simple, the nemesis foundry would allow you to share a nemesis with the community with out you(re character) having to physically be there. Considering you can have up to 18 nemesis this gives them something to do, plus its not uncommon that your nemesis might be foiled by other heroes in your characters absence.
Speaking of those 18 nemesis', don't fell like keeping a nemesis around ? Want to create a new Nemesis, but don't want to delete any of your old ones ? Then publish them. Yes, you read correct I used the word publish. Part of the nemesis foundry would be the option to publish a nemesis that you've created. What happens to your nemesis when there published. Simply put, your nemesis becomes a template character for others to use in the nemesis foundry. Well that's the basic idea of mine to improve the nemesis system.
I have absolutely no motivation whatsoever to fight my nemesis. I do so out of boredom.
The Nemesis system offers absolutely nothing. I've pushed time and time again for ways to make this better. Is the OP's idea sharing/publishing a Nemesis a cool idea? Yeah, sure. I in no way wish to invalidate it.
But the entire Nemesis story is worthless after the first. It becomes stupid after that, a waste of time with no reward at all. I suggested before that the Nemesis system needs to be more tailored to what KIND of Nemesis story you have.
Things like a 'revenge' Nemesis who wants to take you out, and the story revolves around him doing things to get back at you. Or an 'invasion' nemesis that wants to bring a force of [MINIONS] and take over the world.
Coupled with that needs to be what TYPE of Nemesis it is. Paranormal, alien, criminal, lunatic, rogue military, etc. Pair that with the story, it's a done deal.
For extra awesome, have the Nemesis make an alliance with a particular group within the game.
It would also help if we had some decent choices in the minions. I've no qualms at all about saying Cryptic's minions suck a dirty foot.
I definitely agree that the nemesis program has a lot of issues right now and personally i would love it if they became SuperGroup villains rather than just your personal nemesis. It really does seem like it's one of the systems that's been hyped up only to be forgotten in the long run, and could use some well deserved love in the upcoming months.
Things i would love to see
1) more variety between the personalities. As it stands there isn't really any difference that ive seen between fighting a Mastermind, Maniac, and Savage. Less so since the dialog never seems to work any more. Although i wouldn't mind seeing a few more personality types as well thrown in the mix.
2) Super group villains. Maybe put it on a ratio of 90% your own 10% random group member? This would also give way to a nice Nemcon "legion of doom" like mission for active groups.
3) Better rewards. Sure the heirloom gear is nice, but over all what do you need nem tokens for once you have those? I'm not big on action figures, so i'd love to see some better gear for rewards, or at least an exchange system so i can buy better gear from places like the silver champion vendors.
4) the foundry. I know it's just okay in STO and the neverwinter one is supposed to be way more awesome and fun, but the Nemesis system would really benefit from using this to let us create our own nemesis' as well as write our own dialog to better fit them as well as make our champions feel like they're a bigger part of the world they inhabit.
