Looking for help with mage-themed support build

Hi folks. As the title suggests, I'm a returning player to Champions. I've played off-and-on since launch, but it's been about a year since I last logged on. Obviously there's been huge changes since then, and I really don't know where to start or even what's the best character builder now. A quick forum search seems to indicate it's the PowerHouse Character Planner - is that right? Is there something else I should be using?

Anyway, I'm trying to get a new up-to-date build for my Freeform main character. I figured I'd explain a little what I'm looking for, and what I've done in the past. I'm open to suggestions, be they in the form of stuff I need to read up on the wiki, or suggested builds.

The Concept: My main's a mage, a wizard, a magic user, whatever you want to call it. Think Dr. Strange, Zatanna, that whole concept space. The fact I'm a generic super-mage means I'm pretty wide open when it comes to power selections, since it's easy to justify a whole bunch of things - in the past, I've used Celestial, Darkness, Fire, Infernal, Telekinesis, and so on.

Build Priorities: While I've gone through many different Freeform builds, generally I've been most happy as a support, healing-oriented character - but one with enough survivability and damage to solo content when I'm not on a team.

Let me be clear here, survivability and damage are pretty important to me. They're not the number one priorities, but I've always been willing to take a hit to my pure healing capacity in favour of better protecting myself, or giving myself slightly better damage than tissue paper.

In the past, the passives I've been most happy with were Seraphim and Aura of Radiant Protection, running in Sentinel, of course. I don't know if those are the best choices now - I really liked Seraphim, but it was a bit squishy and prone to draw aggro on me in group content. AoRP was nice, but then I hear the other auras are also pretty good nowadays?

Attack and power-wise, I usually used attacks like Skarn's Bane, but I also used a Darkness build for a while with that set's synergies and energy unlock. For heals, I largely relied on the Arcane stuff and Protection Field, but I don't know how things stack up these days.

I assume I should be taking Compassion, the new toggle (well, it's new to me, at least).

Stats: Previously I used either Con/Pre or Pre/Int - and of course I still have the gear for that, so my initial thought was to go Pre as a primary, using Int and Con as secondaries in the current system. Granted, since there are now fewer gear slots to fill, it can't be too hard for me to hunt down new gear to use different stats, but I'd rather work with what I have, unless they're terrible choices.

Thing is, I know primary stat choice is tied to specializations now. And I have absolutely no idea what to make of these, since they're new to me. It doesn't seem like the Int and Con specializations are terribly useful to me, while Pre still seems best-suited for support stuff and occasional damage. But as I said, I don't know.

Any advice or comments would be welcome. Really welcome. You'd get the gratitude of...some random poster on the forums. Um. That sounded better in my head than when I typed it...

    So how does this look?

One thing I'm noticing is that a lot of the specialization stuff seems crit-based. Is it important to pack a Dex superstat into Freeform builds these days? It certainly looks very tempting to go that route.

I'm sort of bothered by the lack of an energy unlock in this build, but then I dunno how necessary that is nowadays, especially running in Sentinel. Also, I don't know if any energy unlock really fits in here.

I think if you're planning on staying put instead of moving around a lot to do your attacks and heals.. you can try to make room for Circle of Arcane Power, as long as youre inside it, you will have unlimited energy.

only takes 1.5 seconds to summon.
