Exactly what does Dexterity do for stealth?

The description says it provides stealth bonuses. In what manner? The time it takes to reenter stealth after combat? The actual effectiveness of the stealth itself? What?

In the past it always went towards something called "Aggression Stealth Rating" which is what perception works against. Aggression stealth rating could also be granted by Sigils of Radiant Protection, as region effect when in range of a sigil (and it stacked).

I'm not certain if they've changed it or not now, so you're question is a very good one. It would be nice if somebody was researching it if they could publish their results.

PS: This topic should really be in the Combat & Powers sub-forum...

Dex would reduce your aggression, but since the game now rewards high crit over anything else your aggression is so high you don't feel like you are keeping aggression down.

Aggression Stealth and Perception Stealth are two different things. Perception stealth is what will make an entity disappear. Aggression Stealth is what determines what enemies do once they perceive you. Have you ever noticed that sometimes enemies will turn to you, weapons at the ready, but remain inactive until you get closer (or go back to being neutral if you back off)? That's aggression stealth.

At least, this was the explanation given to us some years ago by one of the developers.

Hmm, I've noticed that I'm fairly sure that's just a limitation of the AI and a function of threat, and not "stealth", as you don't have to be in stealth at all to reproduce that effect (just move slowly toward a group and you'll see the first turn to look at you before deciding to attack if you get any closer) Get at just the right distance between the "noticing you" and "deciding to attack you" range, and the enemy will just stare at you. This is very noticeable with certain patrolling units.

Typically I play PvE content on Elite and if they notice you they're typically on their way over to attempt to beat the hell out out you anyways, so it makes little difference. And on Elite they'll immediately notice you when teleporting or tunneling past them, so you can't really be sneaky. Sneak is working much better now since the NightHawk power additions & revisions, it used to be completely useless on PvE content.

At least, this was the explanation given to us some years ago by one of the developers.

    Remember who?

My official recommendation: You're going to just have to test it out. Carefully, methodically, & logically.

Aggression stealth prevents enemies from opening fire even after they spot you.
